Deuce McAllister Returns to Saints!
Ummmm.....
Holy %&#%$ crap!!!!!!
Per the Times-Pic...
League sources have confirmed that the New Orleans Saints have signed Deuce McAllister, one of the most popular players in team history.
Welcome back, my friend.
I have no idea how much playing time he'll see, how effective he'll be or even whether he'll dress tomorrow but just from a morale standpoint, I love this move. Have the Saints re-signed the most popular player in Saints history and everyone's favorite running back just to get the crowd even more pumped for the big game tomorrow? If so...nice job because I think it's working! Bring your earplugs, because the Dome will be rocking when fans get a glimpse of D-Mac tomorrow. Man, I hope they introduce him as a starter.
The bad news, if there is any here, is that questions could probably now be raised as to the health status of Pierre Thomas or more likely, Mike Bell.

And yes…what a PR move if he never plays a down this week! Can you imagine what the crowd is going to sound like when he is announced and or runs out on the field? It’s going to be insane! Going to the SB without him would have just seemed wrong after all he had done for the team and the city….WHO DAT….DEUCE DAT….TRUE DAT!

Is Chase ready? I find that hard to believe. I don’t see why Brunnell with all of his experience would be released now. Sure, he looked like crap at Carolina, but so did most of the team.

If
he’s in shape, I say throw him in at full back from time to time. Don’t forget Payton was in contact with Mike McKenzie throughout the season telling him to stay in shape. He may have been doing the same thing with 26. I read that he has been working out at Dr. Andrews spot during the season.

Oh wow, my favorite all time player is a Saint again. I love this, I agree that this will pump fans up because just look how we all feel about this move. I am so happy for the guy. Just to be given another opportunity to be a Saint again. Kudos to the organization. Even if he doesn’t play a down Saturday, it’s still a classy move. But if he does, I can hear it now, “DUEEEEEEEEECE”!!!!!! Man it’s been to long since I heard the dome chant that.
We could get "Boo" Williams back for TE depth,
then an outside observer couldn’t tell the difference between a good day for the Saints and a bad one, judging by crowd reactions. It’d just be a constant, mantra-like,“OOOOOOOOOOO” sound.

Superbowl Ring
Do you think this might just be to give a great player and fan favorite a superbowl ring incase the saints should win it all? Although I"m a panthers fan, I find this to be a very classy move.
Also I"m pulling for you guys. The saints where my team until the Panthers came to down (I was born and raised in western NC) so I finally had a home team.

SB ring
He can get a ring anyway. Saints are allotted 100+ rings and they can buy extra for a cost to give them out to whomever they choose. This is not about a ring in so many ways. Yes it is for a ring but it is for the crowd, fans, city of N.O. This will put us over the top with emotion and the 12th man will be unreal tomorrow.
pt23
has a rib injury (either broken or bruised i’m not quite sure) but he said he’s wearing a vest and he’s ready to play
He can patrol Drew's back side on passes and then pound it in from the 2 or 3!!!!! BRILLIANT!

Yeah
I agree. It’s cool and all, but I can’t help but wonder if somethings wrong?
As much as I love him, he wasn’t very effective last year. But who knows? He’s had more time to get his knees healed, and has the freshest legs of anyone on the roster. Maybe they’re hoping for a Mike McKenzie vs. the Pats type thing.
I think it if something is
wrong with one of our backs its probably Bell. PT might have something to do with it because of these ribs but he said in interviews and on his twitter that the bye week helped him and that he’s breathing and running pain free.
Bring Duece back is probably more of a precaution. Plus the guy is a short yardage monster. And Bell has been having trouble on 3rd and 1 and 4th and short situations as of late. Maybe SP wants a back who has been in these type of games before and is has good blocking. Because even if we win this game, and I have even more faith now with this move that we will, Drew is gonna need extra protection if we have to face Jared Allen or DeMarcus Ware/Anthony Spencer.
This is a smart move footbal wise and a GREAT move morale wise.

He was actually
AS effective last year(his consensus worst year) as Bell has been this year. At least in YPA. If he’s coming in to be our “closer”, I have absolutely no problem with this. If he’s coming in to provide depth because PT can’t make it, I’m not feeling so good. If he’s just here for the fans, and because he deserves to be a part of this, kinda weird decision, but awesome. As long as PT can still go, it’s completely awesome.

Saints press release
Here’s what they had to say in the release:
Per the Times-Pic
“I’m speechless,” McAllister said. “I don’t know that there are words to describe this feeling. I do know that we have some unfinished business that we started a few years ago and we want to finish the deal.”
“Deuce is a huge part of the history of our club and of what has gotten this team to where we are today and we absolutely wanted him with us as we head into the playoffs,” Loomis said.
“Deuce McAllister has always embodied the spirit of the New Orleans Saints and the city of New Orleans,” Payton said. “We’re excited to have him back with the team and to have him lead us out on to the field tomorrow.”
"I said this early on that this was a good football team, they just maybe had to have a stick put in certain parts of their body to play a little harder in certain places to where we’re able to take interceptions and score touchdowns."--Gregg Williams

"LEAD US OUT ON THE FIELD TOMORROW"
He’s gonna lead them out onto the field tomorrow? It’s definitely a team and crowd boostering maneuver. I doubt very much that Bell or Thomas are so injured that they won’t contribute. It’s a morale booster and I love it!

Stunned.
If Deuce makes a big play somewhere in this game, the roof might blow off.
Why do I get the feeling that PT is much more hurt than we’re being led to believe though?
Still, I am PUMPED now. I’m counting down the hours until I see #26 on the Dome floor. He still remains my ALL TIME favorite Saint player. What heart on that guy. I don’t care how he plays tomorrow. This is like Christmas morning to me. If they can’t get motivated and confident now, then forget this team. I want Deuce to hold that damn Lombardi trophy. If he does, I’ll cry like a baby and I’m not ashamed to admit it.
People with high-blood pressure should consult their doctor and ask if they're healthy enough for Saints activity before rooting for this team.
I teared up just hearing it.
So I’m with you. I think all Saints fans that have stuck with these guys through and through will be spraying tears all over the place if we saw Duece or any Saint raise the Lombardi! The true ones will anyway. He’s my all time favorite too. That’s where the 26 in my screen name comes from.

He'll probably wear no. 26
No other player has been assigned that number and, even if Deuce isn’t wearing pads, they’ll surely have him wearing his jersey so everyone can see no. 26 run onto the field. I’ll bet you anything he’ll be wearing his jersey. That is, unless it violates a league rule to have an inactive player wearing a jersey on the sideline. I’m not sure if it does. Cold pizza or M-E, what say you guys? Do you know if he is allowed to wear a jersey and be inactive?

I can’t see why it would. They aren’t allowed to wear pads or otherwise “suit up” but a jersey is something completely different. Heck he could wear his own jersey in the stands if he wanted to. Why not on the sideline?
I hope you're right
It would be totally awesome to see him run out wearing his black and gold #26.

I don't care if D-Train plays a single down.
When I saw the headline I almost broke out in tears. Since a kid I’ve been a fan of Saints football.
I became a hardcore fan in grade school, the year before the Saints beat the Rams in the playoffs. I watched Ditka come and go. I watched Ricky Williams come and go. I watched Aaron Brooks and a host of other players and staff meander through the lineup over the years. Ghosts and wraiths really, never commanding my respect or heart.
They didn’t believe in the Saints, but Joe Horn and Deuce did. I tuned in every Sunday, hoping to watch those two light up the scoreboard with amazing catches and punishing runs. I sat in awe as Horn’s craftiness and Deuce’s fearlessness commanded the respect of those around them. I believed in the Saints because of them.
Losing Deuce was hard for me as a fan, because my love for the Saints coincided with the best years of his career – when he was healthy, in peak shape and throwing down one of the nastiest stiff arms I’ve ever witnessed.
Since his departure, other players have stepped up to replace him in terms of leadership, as well as their real belief in the Saints. Drew Brees is most certainly a man worthy enough to take up the torch as Deuce retires (hopefully as a Saint, as it should be) when he’s ready to go.
Deuce’s story never ended like it should have, though. It was instantaneous. Surreal. Callous, even, how I felt he was treated.
Damnit, his story isn’t over with yet. He’s yet to pen the end, and I’m going to revel in watching the greatest (in my opinion at least) Saint don his uniform at least one last time.
This is as much our story as fans as it is Deuce’s, though.
He’s earned this moment.
We as fans have earned this moment.
So, to reiterate what I stated in the subject line – I honestly don’t care if Deuce plays a single down. I really don’t.
To have him lead our team onto the field tomorrow is the perfect climax if that is how his career is to end.
Saturday, Deuce has the chance to finish his story on his own terms. And if all goes well, he can add an epilogue aptly titled “Retiring as a Champion.”
Even if Deuce and the Saints fail to win the Superbowl, I’ll still have faith.
As long as #26 trots out onto the field, and in his wake #9, I’ll always believe, because I know the Saints are in good hands.
Finish Strong, Deuce. We love you man.

I DON'T MIND MAKING HISTORY
Wondering if Stujo knows about this fantastic news? He is on his way to NOLA
LOVE MY SHOCKMEISTER AND THE COOL BREES!

Heard it on the weird all girl NBC local tv station and went WHAAAAAT? Crazy. Love the Deuce.

Divorcee!
So cool
I honestly believe they did this just because it was the right thing to do. That Deuce missed out on something that he had a big part in. That he has a big heart and he is in the city with a big heart. I know it is unusual for someone to do something nowadays for anything but a buck or a cold calculation. But, that’s my take on it and, you know what? NOLA is the right place to do it and the Saints are the right team to do it.
WHODAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
