oldie, but goodie on Brees

from our friends at "The Onion"

this breaks down drew's pros & cons

but seriously folks...i'm scared of 2 things with the vikings

1 - their running game, although not sharp lately, could beat us up

2 - their pass rush on drew's blind side...gonna need lots of TE help (will this change our gameplan?)

PS  im not really scared, just excited.  CANNOT WAIT ANOTHER WEEK!!!!!  maybe Deuce can get just one snap?

I'd Love to See Deuce in the Game, too.....

you think his knees are good enough to help with pass blocking?
After seeing Tony Romo on the floor of the Mall of America stadium, the Saints might need him against the Vikings defense.

If Kyle Eckle is hurt

Start Deuce at FB and use him to stop the pass rush of Jarrod Allen. If we can keep Brees standing upright, we will be in the Sunshine state in February. Pull out al the stops, this is our chance at the Super Bowl. Who Dat for life!!!

This is OUR year!! Yea, I said it. Who Dat!!!

Didn't you watch the game?

The running backs were assigned to clip the left end before they would go into their pattern out of the backfield. They will probably do that again this week.

I don't think Payton will overlook that pass rush

remember, there is more than one way to negate it. You have the RB chip like was mentioned, you have screen passes, you have draw plays and reverses. Since Drew is so good, you also have a multitude of quick hitting short passes. We do a lot of that and it is never mentioned, but so many pass rushes without getting to the QB tires out the DL. I don’t think they have a lot of depth at pass rusher and one DE (I think it is Barber) may not even play or may play with a bad knee so that is a potentially big factor. As far as the running game, Peterson is amazingly good but hasn’t put up big numbers lately and actually he very frequently starts with, for example, 5 carries for 52 yards and then ends up with 14 carries for 69 yards for the day. It’s weird, but I don’t think the offensive line is that great at run blocking or maybe their scheme is too simplistic. I think a big advantage we have is they have only been 1 year with Favre and I think the offense is not real complex due to that. Also, they lost their MLB mid-late season and they are exploitable ther. We usually do well vs. teams with problems at LB.

+1

Agreed!

SP is a MUCH better game-planner than tubby in Big D. (And he’s willing to make adjustments. The Girls think they are gonna make a plan on Tuesday and wanna stick with it through the entire game.)

Plus, what I hear is that the Girls don’t like to keep their TE’s in to help block, not even when they KNOW Allen Williams Williams & Edwards + various LB’s are coming EVERY PLAY.

SP KNOWS BETTER!

Saints fan in DFW. Saints go all the way... I BELIEVE!

not Barber- Edwards

if he doesn’t play, the only person who is a real sack threat is Jared Allen (and he is very good) but it will be much different without Edwards. Also, their defense doesn’t get many interceptions and Antoine Winfield could be vulnerable- he is banged up, in his 11th year, and only 5-9 vs our tall receivers.

Winfield has come back from injury but played so badly he’s now their nickel corner. So whether he’s healthy or not won’t make much of a difference in the game.

Edwards finished out the game, so I figure he’s playing. I wouldn’t mind at all if he’s not, of course, but I expect him to play.

If I recall, he went back in after reinjuring his knee and then came out and didn't finish

I could easily see him either not playing or having problems being effective because of the knee.

IMO we should go right at him and right at their MLB. I also think if Winfield is not healthy it could make a big difference. One of our weapons (Meachem) vs. their 4th corner? How awesome could their 4th corner be??
