"If I get another shot (in the future), then so be it. But even befor all this occurred, I was leaning toward retiring anyway," McAllister said. "I was hoping to play again, but I may need another surgery on my knee if I go that direction, and I don't want to do that."

Deuuuuuuce!!!!
Glad to see Deuce retire a Saint. How bad is Meach’s ankle? We will miss him and Shockey, if both are out Sunday…
Deuce, you ARE a New Orleans Saint!
Fat, dumb, and happy. Hell, two out of three ain't bad!

That has to be the guy
It would make sense. There’s no way anyone off the street can come in and contribute at this late date. This is all precautionary anyway. Meachem’s injury hasn’t been reported as serious. I think he even came back into the game after it happened.

treatment
They had him in the facility most likely to get as much treatment as possible to help his ankle heal.

I'll always have a man crush for Deuce
Even though I’ve never met him, I truly love this guy. I wish him the best. I’m glad he’ll still be with the team in whatever capacity that turns out to be. If we shock the world (Rocky Balboa style) and win it all this year, I’m glad he’ll also get a ring.

You're the man, Deuce.
I’m so glad you’ll be around in some capacity. I wish you all the best. It would have been sweet to see you suited up and carrying 10 guys into the end zone.
Forget the nickel and dime, you'd better bring a half- dollar to deal with this team.--Tony Moss, NFL editor

Other news from that article... I just posted as a FanShot, but thought I'd add it here...
Apparently the Saints needed his roster spot to sign a receiver because of the uncertainty of Robert Meachem’s ankle injury. So McAllister decided that last week’s cameo with the Saints would be a good note to end his career on.
NOLA transplant in DFW. I bleed Black & Gold. Saints go all the way... I BELIEVE!
Hrm.
Why the hell not just hire him as a ‘’running back consultant’’ and let him to the bat-waving and team introducing he wants. That way you kill both problems of roster spot and respect.

but then he might hit Carney in the head while they're standing in the "consultant zone" of the sideline...
Why not us? Why not Deuce?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO......we need him to protect Drews backside!!!!!!
Well, okay….over the rant. THANKS DEUCE!!!!!!!!!!!!
DON'T STOP 'TIL WE REACH THE TOP!!!!!!!!
Another SAINTS fan in Panther country!
GEAUX SAINTS!!!!!!!!!!!
He might yet do so.
A player can retire and unretire anytime he wants. Just ask Brett about that.
We needed the roster spot and Deuce isn’t playing this weekend, so he retires. And if we don’t need him, he stays that way. Which almost certainly will be what happens. But if we truly need him after all, he’s still under contract on our reserve/retired list, and we can activate him as easy as falling off a log.
Thank you Deuce
for all you’ve done for our beloved Saints. You’ll always be one of my favorite players.

We love you Deuce!!!!
I sure hope he looks at this site and reads our post. I hope that he knows that New Orleans and all of us fans in the Saints Nation appreciate all he’s done as a Saint both on and off the field. He will always hold a special place in our hearts and will always be remembered as such a great player and true human being. One of the best Saints of all time!!!!
