Wake up and smell the defence

I had to laugh while watching sportscenter today. I am watching grown men, supposedly knowledgeable of the game, talk about the our defense beating up opposing QB's. How Greg Williams should have called off the dogs or that our D is out there TRYING to hurt QB's. Then they show a clip of Warner on his back, staring into space, and it dawned on me.... This is the Saints D they are talking about!! Are the Saints playing a little too physical for you? NO?ME EITHER!!

I don't know about you but every coach I've ever played under, teaches you to get to the QB... Knock him down... take him out of the game. Hell, if you accomplish that goal your odds of winning the game go up substantially.

I think we are hearing the FEAR!! The Saints have beat up some elite QB's this year....Especially in the post season. QB's who were supposed to shred our D and expose every weakness. Well, we all know the outcome. Our D is playing at a different level. You cannot make adjustments on someone trying to smash you and steal every ball in the vicinity. I love the aggressive mentality and do not see them playing any different in the SB.

PS- Who else thought that Tracy Porter doing the "Jared Allen" after his int. was just a smart a$$, sophomoric, and totally called for celebration? I mean the feared Mr. Allen, who was going to single handedly rip our O-line apart was basically a non factor

It was certainly called for. And it was a nice bit of rubbing some salt in the wound too.

Like over on DN they were upset the ref's weren't protecting Brett

I let them know it wasn’t the refs job to protect him it was their Olines job so if they’re mad they should take it up with their Oline

If the opposition wants to protect their QB they should follow Belichik's lead ~ throw in the towel and take him out!

If not, fit him with a gigantic face mask that covers his entire body!!!

Fat, dumb, and happy. Hell, two out of three ain't bad!

I don't have a link, but the guys on PTI were even worse, and yet better...

They took the BS article and twisted the already twisted words of GW, even more.

But, then one of them (the guy on the right; not Tony) agreed that that (the over-overaxagerated quote) is how a defensive coach should be.

I was SOOOOO confused.

He made the quote even worse, then defended that position.

Crazy!

Here's a link where you can play the PTI, I think...

http://espn.go.com/espnradio/show?showId=pti

Down the left side there are a list of episodes… it says, “ony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon spend Five Good Minutes with Myron Rolle. Plus, more on Gregg Williams’ comments, Kurt Warner’s likely retirement and Gilbert Arenas’ future.”

Because of this crying I am almost certain if anyone comes close to Manning the yellow will be flying all over the field……….the NFL’s golden child will fall to the ground anyway, but even if our D lands on him who ever is calling the game will prolly throw the flag……Let em Play Refs’ its the SUPER BOWL!!!

Media Hype effects games.

Maybe we should have a pre-game understanding to protect him.

If we come within three feet of Manning, he falls down. WITH the ball.

Yeah, I’d take that.

That’s what he did every time the Ravens got close. I more than half expect him to do the exact same thing if we get close.

Apparently

It’s “dirty” to hit the QB unless you’re the Steelers or the Ravens. Pfffft.

As for Porter mocking Allen, I do think it was a little childish, but I also believe it was payback for Sydney Rice mocking Sharper’s celebration when he scored. Reap what you sow, I suppose.

I fully expect Peyton to hit the deck if he knows his line is beat and there’s no play. I also expect Williams to try to devise a way to blindside him to make the most out of any sack opportunities. After the public beating the refs took following the Vikings game, I’m sure they’ll have itchy trigger fingers with those flags. Defense should be agressive, but not stupid. Late hits sometimes can’t be helped, but let’s not hand them any yards they haven’t earned.

I think Peyton is so friggin' smart, it's amazing.

QBs have been standing there taking it for way too long. If somebody gets too near the QB, it’s a busted play. What’s better than curling around the ball? Throwing an interception? Fumbling? Getting hammered so that later you make a mistake? Seeing your wife cringe in the stands? He also seems to try to throw the ball to the receiver in such a way as to minimize their chances of getting hurt. Is that dumb, also? I haven’t watched that much Colts but I would guess this style of play keeps the Colts from having to put an extra man in the blocking scheme. So, now, he also has more weapons available.

It's very satisfying to hear what everyone is saying the "day after".....

the initial “shock”, so to speak, of Williams publicly saying what every defensive coordinator in the NFL says on the practice field and the locker room. The support of most sports analysts has been overwhelming. Particularly those who are former football players, even quarterbacks. The general consensus has been that anyone who is offended by this is simply naive regarding the game of football..

Fear Dat!!

When the defense is on the field we should all yell FEAR DAT!!! FEAR DAT SAY WHO GONNA SCORE ON DAT DEFENSE!!!

Speaking of defense, I was watching CSI (Crime Scene Investigation) Vegas the other day, and noticed Steve Grissom. When I look at Gregg Williams, especially when he wears sunglasses, he resembles Steve Grissom.

Do ya’ll see a resemblance too?
