Who do the Saints want to play?

New Orleans No. 1 seed in NFC (never thought i would say that), will host Philadelphia, Green Bay or Arizona

So who scares you?

Who will have the most momentum?

Who has a passing game that cannot be stopped?

Our QB is better than the rest in the NFC...

We have the most depth at WR...

BUTT, defense and a running game wins championships, right?

Can Brees's arm prove that age old adage false?

PHILLY

CONS: has speed and solid DEF

PRO: McNabb always chokes at some point in the playoffs

GREEN BAY

CONS: great WRs, solid running game, solid DEF, great QB

PRO: O-line is swiss cheese

ARIZONA

CONS: great WRs, solid running game, solid DEF, experienced QB

PRO: might have injury concerns

No one scares me bring em all

I believe any team that faces our healthy Saints is going to go down
We will be well rested and healthy
Sean Peyton and Drew Brees will have our players focused
And Greg Wlliams will come up with a plan to stop any offense like at the begining of the year
This will be like starting the season all over again everyone starts the playoffs on an even slate
I also believe the reports of our damise is premature

ariz by a hair

none of these teams scare me, i think we will beat all three. but ariz seems to have the highest upside. when they are hot, they are really good. but i also think they have the biggest potential to choke out of the three.

Although a severe beatdown of the Cowgirls in the Superdome would be absolute bliss

I would love to see them go one and done thereby giving me more time to go to their blog and “offer my condolences,” if ya’ know what I mean.

Green Bay’s OL was swiss cheese. It hasn’t been of late. If we can make it be so again, great, but until somebody else proves it can be done I’m most worried about them.

best case scenario

im hoping for
eagles, cardinals, patriots

it would be cool to see them beat
packers, vikings, colts/chargers

hoping for the easiest, but would be cool to see them beat the “best”

I'm gonna say Arizona

I don’t think it will happen though. I think GB wins and so does Dallas. Then we get Dallas again. The playoffs are nuts. four teams are going to be done after this weekend.

I don’t wanna see Philly.

I think if Dallas wins, they play the Vikes and you get GB.

by Salty on Jan 7, 2010 5:21 PM CST up reply actions

we wont

play dallas unless its in the nfc championship game. being the #1 seed, we get the lowest winning seed, which would be philly if they win(#6), or if dallas wins they go to minnesota and we get winner of GB-AZ

My order of fear:

Arizona scares me the most. Their offense is very capable of matching and maybe outscoring the Saints. Their defense is well underrated and if their D plays to potential, they can hold any team down. Our defense cannot match-up to Arizona’s offense, unless we play 100% perfect AND we are 100% healthy.

Minnesota – Argueably the best all around team in the NFC (if not the NFL, SD also). If they are on point, we simply cannot contend.

Dallas – They are playing lights out. I still think that their defense can be exploited. Add in that they completely controlled that Saturday night game. I just have a hunch that if we see them again, we will remember how embarrassing we were and redeem ourselves.

With Philly – we have had success against them and history tells me that we would continue to do so.

Green Bay’s defense is too inconsistent and their offensive line is suspect to say the minimum.

by Fleur De Leap on Jan 8, 2010 7:00 AM CST reply actions

New Orleans is also arguably the best all-around team in the NFL (when they’re healthy, as in the first half of the season). When we were on point, nobody did contend.

If there’s any team to be afraid of, it’s the Saints. The rest of the league has been warned.

Exactly!

I have been having a debate all day with a Cowboy fan who thinks the Saints are slumping and have no hope. He does not seem to understand that with a lot of our struggles were due to a decimated D who will now be healthy and focused, we will have all the tools available to us that made us so dominant early on (save for CG). I honestly think we can beat any team out there quite handily. I fully expect a smile to never crease the lips of Drew this post season until he is hoisting the trophy. Pure intensity.

I think Sean Payton swallowed

The Playbook! After the Patriots victory we had 11 wins. I think Sean swallowed the playbook so that teams would watch the last few games on film and say “We can beat those guys!” and then be completely shell-shocked when Sean showed him waht he really had instore.
Playing for a perfect season is something you do AFTER you have BEEN to the Superbowl AND won it. When we win the next 3, the past 3 will be sooooo forgotten about.

by Comp on Jan 8, 2010 12:42 PM CST reply actions

What a good

thought process you have. I’m guessing it is possible, since the Saints figured they would get home field, they said to themselves, “selves, let’s do this…play like ca-ca, make the other teams going to the playoffs over-confident concerning their abilities and chances of beating us, then IN the playoffs, show them who we really are.”
I’m hoping, and what I would do if I were coach, that the Saints come up with something, both offensively and defensively, that hasn’t been seen yet, or something totally new and baffling to the other team. I would totally switch to a 3-4 defense! (Don’t we play a 4-3 now??) OR!!!!!! play a 3-3 defense, with a 4th player that can cover a back on screens, a tight end on short dumps over the middle and blitz when needed. Kinda like a rover…put him shadowing a specific player when the trend shows that team will try and go to that player.

by Scott2417 on Jan 8, 2010 10:42 PM CST up reply actions

3 L's....?

What 3 L’s…I forgot already but I do remember 13 wins and Sean is a thinker, he’s got a plan, oh yeah and our guys will be ready to play it out!

Peter King makes a good point. Really.
…they wouldn’t mind seeing Green Bay come to New Orleans next week. Why? Travel. The Packers played last Sunday in Arizona, traveled nearly 2,000 miles home; they get back on a plane Saturday to return to Arizona, travel back home again, arriving presumably at 2 or 3 in the morning Monday … then would have to travel to New Orleans on Friday for their third straight substantial road trip in 14 days.

I lost ten points just for being in the right place at exactly the wrong time.

by stujo4 on Jan 8, 2010 4:14 PM CST reply actions

Well If GB B****es about traveling half as much as Peter King does

Maybe it will be to our advantage. What a loser.

Gosh, ain't Petey clever?

Green Bay, two round trips to Phonix plus one way to New Orleans: 6,766 miles.

Philadelphia, two round trips to Dallas plus one way to New Orleans: 6,289 miles.

I count that as a wash. So why forget to mention the Eagles? Too much caffeine?

The cards are in for

a wing clipping in the dome next weekend. They have no defense and they aren’t going to be ready for our healthy focused defense. Kurt Warner and the birdies are going down baby. Drew and our offense will rule. Yeeehaa!!!

by dubluvr on Jan 10, 2010 9:05 PM CST reply actions

Arizona starts 4 corners

They have no true safety. They start 4 true cornerbacks in their secondary and have a good defensive line. I know their defense has stumbled at times this year, but at other times they have shut passing teams down. You have to be able to run against them Thomas’s injury worries me.
