Fleur-de-Links - Oct. 10th: Saints Look to Regroup After Disappointing Loss
There was considerable roster adjustment today. Most notable is the curious signing of RB Julius Jones and the release of RB DeShawn Wynn. In addition, the Saints also signed S Matt Giordano and CB Reggie Jones while releasing K John Carney and LB Harry Coleman. I guess that 29 yard missed FG ended Carney's usefulness in the eyes of Payton. Let's hope Garrett Hartley has cleared whatever cobwebs were in his head and gremlins in his feet and is now reliable once again.

- How to score touchdowns in the red zone where they were just 1 of 4 Sunday? For the time being there is no Reggie Bush to run around and away from tacklers on his way to a touchdown dive inside the pylon. There is no Pierre Thomas to run through tacklers on his way to pay-dirt with a hand-off or a screen pass.

did anyone catch this in Duncan's film study?
Marques Colston had a large wrap on his right elbow after the game and it might have come from a big hit he took at the end of his first catch. Colston’s right arm was caught under his body awkwardly as Michael Adams and Rashad Johnson sandwiched him on the tackle.
oh my
It's gonna be a great year.
Disturbing, to say the least.

I wanted Payton to shake things up a little, but
I meant within the roster. I think Wynn deserved moree of a chance. Julius Jones has done nothing (lately) to illustrate he’s any kind of answer. Wynn may not be either but at least he’s had a few weeks to learn the playbook and to be a contributor on special teams. I wouldn’t think Jones ios going to play special teams but I could be wrong. Now we have all these new guys who have to learn things and it hurts our continuity. Why the defensive guys when we have Sharper and Ingram who can come back?
I like Reggis Jones. But at this point I think Carney is still more dependable on short fgs. This seems like desperation.

"It's about time something good like this happened." Drew Brees
Yes.
I think, too. In times past, the organization would have done absolutely nothing. At least we are trying to make changes to improve. Time will tell if it pans out or not. But while our team struggles, I look around the NFC and don’t see anyone that we would not be favored against.
