CSC's Drink of the Week: Black and Gold
We've got a new sponsor on board and I think this is one a lot of you guys might really enjoy. Every Friday for the next five weeks, I will be hooking you up with a drink recipe inspired by that weeks Saints game. Feel free to try them out yourself or offer your own Saints-inspired cocktail recipe in the comment section below.
Since the Saints are taking on the Steelers this week and there is much debate as to which teams colors are truly Black & Gold, I used that as my inspiration for our beverage this week. Plus, I found the perfect concoction right here at About.com.
Make the jump to learn how to make it.
It's called a Black & Gold and it's easy to make, requiring only two ingredients, but neither of them are probably liquors you've already got stocked so a trip to the store will most likely be necessary for this one. Blavod is a designer vodka that's black in color and Goldschlager is the cinnamon liquer with those famous gold flakes. Together they take on the cinnamon flavor of the Goldschlager while the drink remains black in color, decorated simply with the gold flakes.
The Players
- 2 oz Blavod vodka
- 1 oz Goldschlager
The Gameplan
- Pour the Blavod into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
- Shake well.
- Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
- Top with Goldschlager.
- Garnish with cinnamon stick.
Sip and enjoy!

goldschlager tastes like an atomic fireball
I don’t like my drinks to taste like candy, but I can imagine people will like this. I’d make it just because it’s a Black & Gold.
However, I’ll be sticking with my usual bloody mary—>abita amber during the game, followed by post-game scotch rocks.
I let a guy taste it at work last night
He said it tastes like Christmas hahaha
Breesus Is My Homeboy
That's funny
because I almost wrote how it ALWAYS reminds me of christmas.

You know
I heard the gripe about black and gold from a Pittsburgh fan this week for the first time, and the first thing I thought was “you freaking morons, that’s yellow, not gold”.
by theprogrammerman on Oct 29, 2010 4:12 PM CDT reply actions
In response to that
The info below is a direct quote from the History of the Pittsburgh Steelers website. Below is in regards to the colors of the stars on the helmet and the color info itself. Black and yellow, nuff said. If they want to claim it’s gold, maybe the next time the select a color palette they shouldn’t pick the canary yellow as their “gold” option.
The colors were chosen to promote the attributes for steel: yellow lightens your work; orange brightens your leisure; and blue widens your world. The logo’s meaning was later amended to represent the three materials used to produce steel: yellow for coal; orange for iron ore; and blue for steel scrap.

Um, the same could be said of LSU
I say it’s GOLD. “I bleed purple and yellow” just doesn’t have the same ring. And I’m not a moron. I’m a couyon.

My job has me working some really wierd hours.
Haven’t been able to give CSC the attention it deserves so I just do some lurking and a few drive-by snippits.
I miss the “old days” when everybody seemed to be on-line 24/7 and drunk.
Ah, yes. Good times. Good times.

I just saw Marisa Miller on stage.....
…… In Trafalger Sq – London. Apparently she`s a big fan of the 9ers
who are in town to play the Broncos tomorrow. She looked ok but in
need of a good meal if I were to criticise.
Moreton Anderson was up there too , he was either drunk or his Danish accent
was kicking in , he told a few well worn stories from back in the old days , though
the main focus was how he kicked the Falcons to the SB.
Mad Mike and Jerry Rice had some time as did a motley collection of SF linemen
and some chubby guys called the Cuban brothers.
Going to the game at Wembley which@promises to be a humdinger@ but will be home
to see the late Steelers game .
Getting back to the topic I couldn`t get black vodka so substituted Sambuca nero
which did the trick.

you didn't leave a space after the word "which" in your first comment so it nullified the sarcasm font

My avatar may give you a clue
though the “chew” derives from a wizened Irish hag who frequented
a bar I work in part-time. My name is Matt (Matthew) in the real world
and the said woman used to address me as Mattchew which in turn became
Mr Chew. I must stress here that I am not the same Mr Chew who has an
internet site relating to Asian Beavers. Can you imagine the shock I had
when entering that particular site when there were no references at all to
aquatic , dam building mammals.
