There are still some _ints fans hiding amongst you!
I can only wonder what kind of fans some people were when they hate on THIS team, when we have for the most part of 40+ years been…bad? I seem to remember days when as long as Steve Stonebreaker hit somebody harrrrd and started a fight, I was good! When little Al Dodd from West Jeff was catching passes as WR. The Saints were a team that could consistently jerk defeat out of the jaws of victory. Remember when we really did SUCK? WE DO NOT NOW…not by any stretch of the imagination. What kind of loyalty is it saying the reigning Super Bowl Champions, our paper bag headed Saints who are going to win 12 games this year suck? How many years have we had what we have right now? If you can’t love these Saints for better or for worse and especially NOW….I am all knowing but I am confused!
We have a good team, we could repeat, we might not but we have a great team and an organization trying to be what they have up in Foxsboro…Payton and the next gen of Benson’s want that! They are on the right track to giving us that. There will be ups and downs but we will never be _INTS again. Well, who knows huh…lol but we aint _INTS now!
Ya see this is how the GGM sees it. I don't expect them to win the Super Bowl every year from now on! I said it...so shoot me I'm dead already... Don't you guys think we have great attitude and support from our ownership now, great front office, great coaching staff and a whole lot of really good ball players. Our games are all sold out, the Dome looks great, we won the NFC Championship last year, WE WON THE SUPER BOWL FINALLY! HELL WE WENT TO ONE FINALLY! I just mean guys, we have built an org that will keep us with a real chance to win any game all the way to the biggest one...we gonna be good for awhile even if we don't go to the SB every year...let's enjoy a team that can jerk victory out of the jaws of defeat! I'm done....all I'm saying if we can't enjoy it now, when you gonna enjoy being the Champs? But that's just me...love me or hate me it don't affect da spells!

First off we missed you dont know where u been but glad ur back!! Second couldnt agree with you more…we are now spoiled over last year! AND IM FINE WITH THAT…why? because we have a history of loosing but we all drank the COOL-Aid and now we love us some winning! My faith level is high and hasnt waivered but there have been some suprises this year…I know all my family members were all dolled up for the Super Bowl but they dont watch the Saints and they are all from New Orleans!!!
Couldnt of said it better bro man!!
Holy Cow! This gave me chills! Good chills that is.
This article has helped me get half of my head outta my rear end. There are times I’ve been very angry at Payton and the team. And I need to lay off, sit back and put trust in this organization. We are still a damn good team even though we’re not in full throttle right now.
And we’re 3-1 tied for 1st in the NFC. So I should be grateful for that. We’re not going to blow teams away or score 40 plus points every week. We’re human. We’re going to have our ups and downs But the Saints will get back in full throttle again. Have faith in Payton.
Great teams get in slumps all the time. It’s how you deal with and respond.
I remember in the 70’s we were God Awful, except 78 and 79. 80 and 81 were awful. Then Bum Phillips came along. Mediocre with broken promises. The Rams game when we lost 26-24 in 1983 knocked us out of the playoffs when Dave Wilson threw 2 Int’s returned for TD’s. 1982 and 83 we missed the playoffs needing just one win.
Then the great Jim Mora came along who built one hell of a defense but knew zilch on how to run a successful offense. Brought the team to the playoffs 4 outta 6 years but failed to go any further than that .
Then Mike Ditka, no need to say anymore. What a joke.
Jim Haslett. Mr one year wonder. 4 straight years missing the playoffs by needing 1 win to make it in each of those years.
Sean Payton. The best coach in the league. He’s not perfect. He will make mistakes. He built one hell of a “Winning” team along with the best QB.
Yes there are a ton of haters out there. We win the Superbowl. And it seems like we are more hated than ever. You know with the Katrina bullshit and all. And saying that we were gifted a Superbowl from the NFL. Well those people are just flat out ignorant and shouldn’t be sportsfans.
But we’re loved by many as well.

I heard something from Trent Dilfer on The Herd
He said that the Saints may be the best team in the league, because they are 3 – 1 and should be 4 – 0, but because of injuries are playing their C game. He said wait after week 9, when all their players are back and they can play their A game again. They will be a force at the right time. That they need be no more than 5 – 3 at that time and be in great shape for a run at the right time. Dilfer took issue with Cowherd now putting the Saints in his elite team list and putting Atlanta in. He said he is not sure about Atlanta yet. He said they are lucky not to be 1 – 3. The Saints missed field goal and the White strip kept them from being 1 – 3. Dilfer said he is more sold on a team that is finding ways to win, when they don’t have all their weapons than a team that is getting breaks to win with all their players.

I remember seeing Dilfer this morning on Espn.
He calls it like he sees it. He’s the best analyst in my book.
I really like him… He’s insightful too. And, for the most part, knows what he’s talking about.
Want to go to the Saints vs. Cowboys game? I've got an extra ticket.
I think
what makes him a good analyst is what made him a good qb. He didn’t have all the skills in the world, but he used what he had to the utmost of his ability. He wasn’t going to be Marino or Montana, so he decided to be Trent Dilfer and study hard and do his best. I think he would make a good coach. All the best coaches were not the best players, but players who had to learn all about the game in order to play at all, because they were not the most skilled. I think the same thing is true of the analyst. I know that the stars rule, but I don’t think they make the best analyst. One other thing Dilfer said, the team with the most stars is not always the team that wins, it’s the best TEAM that wins.

He thinks when he speaks
He has knowledge of the NFL instead of just blowing smoke like those other clowns.
Good post GGM
You said it exactly the way I feel it.
"Never interrupt your enemy when he's making a mistake." -- Napoleon Bonaparte
YES! We don't need no Janet Jackson "What have you done for me lately" fans
I still have the smile on my face from earlier this year. No one can ever take that away from me. We are not the healthiest, but we keep finding ways to win.
Pre SB Champs:
In previous years it was like the team psyche was “Oh man! We are behind. Let’s hope we can find a way to win.”
Post SB champs:
Now it seems the team has the attitude “Let’s go out there and do this.”
Big change.
So I will take the nail biters knowing that we have the real possibility of winning them, instead of (what my wife used to call pathetic hope) hoping and praying that they could find a way (Hail Mary, fumble, int, etc).
If they lose the rest of the year I will still be a fan. When the bandwagon seats are empty I will still be there.

I am fully on board with this team no matter what.
And while my heart rate has been spiking in a lot of these games, isn’t that excitement and nail biting agony what makes football awesome?
As much as i liked watching some of the blowouts last year, the close games to me are so much more memorable and exciting to watch. Truth be told, I’d rather be sitting on the edge of my seat, nerves going crazy, then sitting back with a smug look on my face.

The Saints are always my team no matter what.
That doesn’t mean I am willing to spend extra money to go watch the games at a bar. If they are losing to teams they should beat, or just failing to blow out sucky teams, or are even flat out sucking, I’ll refuse to waste my money on the live game.
But they’re still my team and I still follow them. It’s just a matter of when or if I spend my money on them.
I remember when we find ways to lose the close games.
While sitting there Sunday, I knew the defense would find a way to stop them from scoring. In the olds days, I would know they would give up some big play to lose the game. That to me is the difference in this team. My only regret is that we don’t have Morten Andersen any more.

Doesn't feel like the past.....
Really, I doesn’t. In close games of the past, I just knew we would lose. Lately, last few years, in those same close games, I JUST KNEW WE WOULD WIN!!!!!! WHO DAT!

Nice read...
However, I think fans tend to say things like, “my team sucks” but they’re fans, so it’s in a different spirit than say when I say, UCLA sucks! I mean it differently and I have the branding of being a fan that allows me the objectivity or ability to criticize my squad. It’s kinda how you might insult a sibling or other family member but when someone outside that circle does it—it’s on! My two cents!
2010 is cuzzin's breakout year...run with that chip bruh!
Good Call
I have been a Cubs fan for as long as I have been a Saints fan. So I have gotten real used to losing in two different sports. Winning is new to me and it will take a while to get the feel of being a fan of a team that actual wins games, no matter how close they are.
