The New Orleans Saints moved to bolster their injury-depleted secondary Tuesday by re-signing cornerback Leigh Torrence and bringing in two safeties for tryouts. The Saints worked out safeties Macho Harris and Pat Watkins on Tuesday, but did not immediately make a roster move.

Eagles waived DB Macho Harris.
The Eagles did all they could to make it work with Macho, but it wasn’t happening. He failed as a safety last year and then couldn’t make the cut as a nickel corner this year.
he’s best used as a third safety or nickel corner.

What’s the excuse for getting rid of him so early in his career? There are only two possibilities that I can see here. Macho’s play could have declined significantly to the point where the Eagles couldn’t ever envision him being worth a roster spot. This seems far fetched. Instead, what if Macho was never really any good to begin with. Maybe the fact that he started so many games last year isn’t an indication of his skill, but rather an indictment of the players he beat out.

Pat Watkins-DB – Cowboys Aug. 30 – 10:17 am et Cowboys waived S Pat Watkins. This is a case of Watkins not being able to stay healthy. He missed all four preseason games with a knee injury and simply ran out of time. The special teams demon and serviceable backup safety can surely help a team when he’s on the field.

Saw a lot of Macho Harris at VA Tech
The kid has a strong motor. I don’t know what didn’t work out for him in Philly, but he plays all out every play. From what I remember, he seems to be a bit undersized, but the guy hits like a truck.
