Absolutely Fed Up with the Lack of Respect
I remember year's past when the top 3 or 4 defenses were applauded as pieces of defensive mastery, a Picasso on the football field. I hear about the Rex Ryan's great Jets defense or the incredible Polomalu led Steelers defense and the ageless wonder Ray Lewis's mighty ravens defense week after week. Every week I hear this crap and watch my Saints climb the rankings with defensive brilliance. Even when we were pounded by Cleveland and heartbroken by the Cards, the defensive numbers were awe inspiring. So I ask "why no press"? Sedrick Ellis should be a lock for the pro-bowl, but he won't be there. I'd take Jonathan Vilma over any MLB in the league, but he probably watches the game from home. The secondary has so many bandages that they're starting to look like the mummy, but yet they're ranked 1st in the league. Where is the press? Just had to get that out! I feel better now. NOT! This is ridiculous that the we here about all the accolades of all the other team defenses but never get a hint of respect. Just like the guy who always said "I get no respect" I guess sometimes you gotta call attention to yourself to show how good you are. So go beat your respect out of 'em boys!

Learned a log time ago......
WHY CARE what others say or don’t say??? Maybe too many years of sorry teams has made me feel that way. OUR SAINTS will take care of business and to me, that’s all that matters.
DON'T STOP 'TIL WE REACH THE TOP!!!!!!!!

I’ve said it many times: Besides not caring what the media says…. am I the only one who thinks we play BETTER when we’re not “respected?” Um, we do.

Screw the MSM
I like being under the radar. It makes it that much more sweet when my favorite team thrashes a media darling.
"In fact, Sterger claims that, in one of the photos Favre allegedly sent her, he's masturbating — while wearing a pair of Crocs"
It's best to just get used to it
What they think doesn’t matter because they’re proven wrong most of the time. It’s all about $. They draw in more readers and viewers more consistently when they spend their airtime and article space on the higher market East and North conference teams. Screw em!
"As soon as Tony (Dungy) said we had no chance, I knew we had 'em right where we wanted 'em"--Coach Sean Payton right after Super Bowl XLIV with the Lombardi Trophy firmly in hand. WHO DAT!!

Vilma will be watching the pro bowl with a second Lombardi to keep him company.
Snap, place, kick! And it's good! It's good! It's goo-hoo-hood! Pigs have flown! Hell Has frozen over! The Saints are going to the Superbowl!

This past week at least, the media has been too enamored with crowning Michael Vick the MVP of the year in mid-season to have noticed anything else.
Another thing that has dropped off the radar is the Favre “investigation”. Initially everyone was saying this would be resolved in a “couple of weeks”…. that was two months ago. I think the Favre Fix is in.
I agree.
They’ve been dicking around for far too long regarding the query.

I don't get the Vick thing
He plays one lights out game and has played half of the games the Eagles have played so far and he is somehow MVP worthy? And they are saying he is in the Brady/Manning conversation for best QB. Ummmm…what about DREW BREES? The MSM is crazy and I want to see what they’re sayign when Brees goes on a tear to close out the year. I am thinking we win out and Brees puts the offense on his shoulders from here on out (a la Peyton Manning when he stole the MVP from Brees).

Vick has zero turnovers in 6 games. Rotoworld.com:
Michael Vick’s 49 standard-scoring fantasy points in Week 10 are the most all-time by a quarterback. There isn’t a hotter player heading into Week 11.
I wanna watch the ocean bend the edges of the sun, then
I wanna get swallowed up in an ocean of love.
And he's thrown half as many passes as Brees
or Manning or Brady.
They’d all be turnover free if they could run like the wind every Tme there’s nobody there or the pressure is in their face.

So if they had the physical skills of Michael Vick, they’d be just as good as him?

It's fair to compare like skills
if you’re going to cite no turnovers. Not that you hold it against Vick, but rushing and passing yards should be what gets him the MVP.

But what you essentially said was that if Brees, Manning or Brady could run as fast as Vick, they’d have as few turnovers. So, if they had Michael Vick’s physical skill set, then they’d be the same as him. Thanks for the information. I’ll let you know next time I can’t use common sense to solve a problem.

I give Vick his credit man, the dude is doing it!

Well I personally LOVE your sarcasm. Rec'd
"In fact, Sterger claims that, in one of the photos Favre allegedly sent her, he's masturbating — while wearing a pair of Crocs"
What about Drew Brees? 1 words…Interceptions. If he wants MVP considerations he’ll have to go the rest of the year throwing no more than 3 INTs while leading the Saints to at least a 12-4 record and another division title. Else Ryan will get more consideration from the voters due to his non-existent INTs and leading the Falcons to the division title. If you look really hard at the QB play in the first half across both NFC and AFC…you have an incredible hard time putting Brees in the top 5.

I understand where your coming from but
Vick has always been dangerous with his feet but mediocre passing. His arm was as good as anyone throwing a football last game. I agree it’s a little premature to crown him the greatest, but damn sure scary.

I guess we just have to deal with it but hopefully a few more wins and they can’t ignore it.

We don't have the star power
Not a bad thing. The Steelers have Polamalu, the Ravens have Ray Lewis. Who really stands out on our defense? I mean nationally. We don’t have guys doing Head and Shoulders or Old Spice commercials. We play TEAM defense. We have a football TEAM that plays as a TEAM. I’ll take that over having 1 outstanding player on defense.
Peyton, I can eat Oreos faster than you!!!!
Think it more has to do with who we played.
We played incredibly weak offenses in ARizona, Carolina twice, and the Browns, and SF etc. It’s also why nobody is giving TB any real credit yet, as despite their record they haven’t beaten a team above 500 yet.

You'd take Vilma over Willis?
I’m not sure about that, I’d take Patrick Willis in a flash! But then again, I’m being literal and I know what you meant. You’re right, we are not getting the press. Shoot even when i talk fantasy with people the Saints don’t come up…but I have them and for the most part I’m hitting double digits every week.

Van Pelt
Did any of y’all hear Scott Van Pelt this afternoon. Talk about dis-respect: here is his comment: ( I understand that Reggie Bush is coming back this week, well as far as I am concerned this is a (NON EVENT). It’s like oh well he’s back. Even though he’s playing his old coach it just doesn’t mean a lot. ) espn sucks, and by the way, van pelt didn’t say that, I did.

This BS again? Seriously? GTF over it. We have a good defense that is currently (over)performing at a top level, to the credit of the DC and defensive personnel. We also have a talented but stumbling, underperforming offense, a 6-3 record with two atrocious losses and two consecutive good performances, one of which was against the worst team in the NFL.
If people were complaining about a lack of media respect last season at 9-0, with an all-cylinders-firing blowout offense, what on earth are their expectations now? I didn’t know ESPN was even aware that defense is a part of the NFL. I can barely remember the last time they even showed a player get tackled. Are you expecting a Jon Gruden video analysis of Will Smith? Jim Rome to spend his whole show soliloquizing over Gregg Williams?

If I am good I could add years to my life / I would rather add some life to my years.
who gives a F if they appreciate/acknowlege us for the accomplishments?
Why do we need their approval? Would you really want those flip-floppers fawning over our every move? I sure as hell don’t b/c I can’t stand when they do it to other teams & players. At some point during this game, they were talking about Brees & his concentration. They paused the replay, then circled his eyes w/their little yellow marker & said “look. just look at that concentration.” Really? C’mon man!!

There are a lot of teams that are in the same place we are
So it’s understandable that we aren’t getting any real coverage. I am hoping as teams start to fall off and we pull ahead we will see more Saints news. I think when we get back to the playoffs and (hopefully) do well there will be a lot of commenting on the Superbowl Champions making it a lot further than expected.
