Favre's not getting much help...

Fools are dropping passes, half his picks are from dropped passes, and the D has been non-existent…they aren’t playing like they were last year. I understand his reasoning for coming back but…this team is sad. I don’t think Tavaris would do any better.

Or, maybe, just maybe, we realize our OL is playing like crap — especially Stinchcomb — and upgrade it over this coming offseason. Draft, trade, FA, whatever we gotta do, they’ll figure something out. And then when they’re back to being the dominating unit they were last year, suddenly the running game is better and the Drew we know and love is back with a vengeance.

Guaranteed? Of course not. But likely? Yeah, I think so.

He’s definitely forcing throws that aren’t there. INT in the red zone and also on at least two other occasions yesterday, going to guys that were completely blanketed. He’s lucky to have only thrown two picks.

I just don’t get this. If you keep babbling about decline long enough one day you will be right. Who do you want under center? Name one QB who never has up days and down. As for putzes? Putzes don’t put up 34 points while holding opponents to 19. Good football teams do. GEEEEEZZZZZ. Who Dat !

by saints-fan-in-miss on Nov 22, 2010 4:07 PM CST up reply actions

Good football teams shouldn’t leave so many points on the field. Two red zone interceptions, a missed field goal and an aborted extra point. That’s enough points to lose half a dozen games by.

It was worth the wait.

by MtnExile on Nov 22, 2010 4:12 PM CST up reply actions

There are no perfect teams or games played. It's football, chit happens.

That’s what football is. The team who can play past and over come the short comings and errors that occur in every game, wins. Hell every play. I’m sure there is a game somewhere that a team scores a TD on every possession and never a dropped ball. On D, said team never makes a mistake resulting in as much as a field goal by the other. Of course said perfect team has to do this every week through the Super Bowl.

I understand how ME may have gotten the impression he did if he was just watching the NFL.com game simulator. But the truth is the game was a complete blowout that was never in doubt. I think the scrimmage-like atmosphere and an erratic longsnapper is what led to most of the sloppiness. I think we’ll play a much more focused game this week.

Size advantage, for the most part. Williams is 6’5". There were a couple of times that Greer had perfect position and Williams just went up and got it. Not many DBs in the league are going to be able to break up those types of passes, though there was no excuse on the two where he didn’t wrap up after the catch.

greer asleep, graham crazy good

this was one of the first/only times Ive felt pretty good about this win – given who was out w/injuries. I think this is where we should be going into the Turkey Day throw-down. Granted Id like to be hanging 40s on our opponents goose-egg, but I can dream. Brees let it fly more than in recent weeks & Ivory is just a beast. I think Greer looked sleepy but he’ll snap out of it come Thursday.

Dallas struggled to win against Detroit Rock City & Jason Garrett is Gods gift to football, so D should win… right? Hell no. Im not over confident. I think they’ll put up a fight, but we’ll get the W.

I really enjoyed this game. Graham & Ivory are stupid crazy good. Love them.

is it safe to say that the Saints are back to the 2009 form? Offence putting up big numbers, Defence giving up big numbers, and Special Teams are iffy.

Am I the only one that enjoyed the game?

With the exception of Greer, I thought the defense played pretty well. The offense seemed to be clicking right along. Tusk was a beast running the ball. Drew looked good for most of the game. Yes, some stupid throws for interceptions, but overall much better than early in the season. Colston caught all his passes. Little Jimmy is great! I’m looking forward to the Turkey Day game and seeing a total beat down of the Cowgirls!

No, I really enjoyed the game as well.

I told my friends in preseason, Tusk is gonna be a beast, and he is. The guy never stops running. Brees is still a little off throwing passes that aren’t there. Defence did give up more yards than I’d like to see, but only allowed 1 td, which is nice.

by saints_r_us#9 on Nov 22, 2010 1:58 PM CST up reply actions

I agree!

I think a lot of people above are being WAY too harsh on the Saints. It never seemed any doubt, after the first few series, as to who was going to win. Anyone who says Hasselbeck moved the team at will should consider that the defense gave up 1 TD. Again. That’s a bunch of games this season. We got beat for 2 long passes totaling 110 yds, and that appeared to be Greer- but I attribute that to not having Sharper, and Jenkins on the field and Young was out there and I believe I saw Torrence in early on. P Rob was missing too. So, with our defense secondary missing 2 main guys ( really 3 if you count P Rob) , we still only gave up one TD.

Offense looked good. Ivory was a beast, Colston was phenomenal, Little jimmy was great. Our O- line gave up no sacks. We had over 100yds rushing and Brees really only had one int- the last one was irrelevant.
I enjoyed it immenesly- it’s a shame some fans didn’t enjoy it as much- I think they are looking for perfection in a game where it is not possible to be perfect.

If Evans hadn’t been called on a questionable holding call, Jones scores from 32 yards out and we finish at 41-19 and I think everone would have a different perspective.

Good point about the secondary

…and I forgot to pose this question: was it all Greer’s fault, or was he perhaps expecting help over the top that wasn’t there? In other words: was this really on Usama again?

It was worth the wait.

decent coverage, just couldn’t find the ball or get vertical against a much bigger, stronger reciever. I’ve never seen him get owned like that before. Makes me worry a little about Dez Bryant and Miles Austin this week

He did play like one of those old magnetic football players (unable to leave his feet) but I wonder what would have happened on those long passes if Sharper or Jenkins had been playing

Perfect? No.

But consider that 4 starters were in street clothes, as well as the guy that is usually the nickel back on defense. From what I can see, all of these guys will be playing Thursday, their first game this season in the Edifice To Jerry’s Overblown Ego (their second will be in early 2011).

Things to improve, absolutely. Drew threw one INT that made no sense (shovel pass), another that was just a huge “…huh?”, those need to stop. The defense needs to tighten up a bit on the big play before they get to Dall@$$, but Sharper should be back which will tighten things up a bit.

However, a 15 point win is a 15 point win. Hard to complain TOO much about it, right?

And Phil is right, the JuJo TD that got called back, last time I checked the rulebook, “holding” did not encompass grabbing a D-lineman’s jersey INSIDE the shoulders, just OUTSIDE them. That call was pretty bogus.

The Seahawk who ultimately fell on the loose ball had stepped out of bounds and hadn’t “re-established himself on the playing field” at the time. Replays showed that when he leaped for the ball, only one foot had actually touched inbounds. Therefore, it was treated as an “out of bounds fumble” with the ball going to the player to last touched it…. who was Lance Moore (I think?).

by Drew-Dat on Nov 22, 2010 7:56 AM CST up reply actions

Question about the Field goal etc.

So while watching the gamecast (info but no actual video) i saw we had a bad snap and missed an extra point when Chase tried to run it in. We also missed a….sigh….27 yard field goal. How bad were the snaps throughout the game? Was a bad snap partially responsible for the kick, or just another legendary Hartley shank? Just curious because if i remember right, we just signed the long snapper who supposedly has been struggling on snaps. Was it the new guy snapping?

Yes, he was and both snaps were poor. Daniel did a nice job of getting the FG snap down, so I’m not positive that should be blamed for the miss. It may or may not have thrown off Hartley’s timing. Either way, it hit the upright, so it wasn’t a complete shank.

"I was not on the boat in question" -Darren Sharper

by coldpizza on Nov 22, 2010 10:52 AM CST up reply actions

Yeah the snaps for placekicks were pretty erratic all day. I think the FG one was his best of the day… but that doesn’t mean it was actually any good. Just better than the rest of the crap.

I think the timing is off and it’s affecting his plant leg position. I think he needs to plant a bit further forward, actually in front of the ball just a bit. It makes sense to at least some degree… assuming I’ve got the physics right, which I might not…
