New Orleans Saints 30 @ Dallas Cowboys 27: Who Dat Say?!
Thanksgiving Day 2010 is now a memory, but what a memory the finish to that game is. Jenkins' strip/recovery (we have got to come up with a cool name for that play ala "Meacharound") and the subsequent zip-zoom TD drive by Brees & Co., followed by a near-miss 59-yard FG by the Cowboys that would have tied the game with less than 30 seconds left - BAM! 8-3, here we are.
Now we have a long week until we face the Cincinnati Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium on December 5. Let's savor this sweet victory with news, notes, tweets, and videos.

jeffduncantp Credit the Cowboys for a great comeback. They could've folded. Win or lose, this performance should solidify Garrett's candidacy as HC.
jeffduncantp The Cowboys lived & might have just died by their man-to-man coverage. The Saints kept throwing haymakers & finally hit one.
jeffduncantp Wow. It looked like Sean Payton tried to call a timeout just before that missed FG and the official didn't give it to him.
jeffduncantp And finally the Who Dat chants break out at Cowboys Stadium.

Man, I just spent a little time reading the comments on Falcoholic and had to come by here for a breath of fresh air. What a pit of foul language, mindless hostility toward people who like other teams and nattering negativity. I was just curious how they were feeling about the Packers game, but now I couldn’t care less how they feel. If Falcons and Bucs win this week, is not the NFC South league’s strongest? I think almost every division has someone like the Panthers.

You think it's bad over there now...
…wait until they lose to GB this weekend! ;-)
I know a few Falcons fans that are OK (Falcoholic lead blogger Dave Choate seems particularly cool), but as a whole, they’re typically an annoying, obnoxious, foul mouthed bunch of nose-breathers. Sorta like Cowboys fans, without the winning tradition to back ’em up – which makes them particularly pathetic.

Falcoholic
I just can’t understand why they don’t let the other team’s fans have their say. Always used to look forward to the Norseman rants, back when they still had hope. I would assume Choate sets the policy, so what is so cool? Obviously, one would be obligated to be a respectful guest on another team’s site and all that, but deep down I suspect there are insecurity issues, they suspect they are playing over their heads and about to be exposed. On a lighter note, you can’t beat the Cowboys blog for serious angst today, their fans are about even between Roy Williams is an idiot and Jenkins made a great play.A few noticed Garret coached like a rookie.

“insecurity” says it all.
The defending champs are breathing down their necks, and deep down they know they aren’t as good as their record. They don’t want the division to come down to the game against us. Look for their team to start playing uptight and fade down the stretch.

I'll be interested to see Reggie Bush's
grade by Andrew. Let’s see…a first down, a bonk in the head with the ball, and negative 14 points…does that cover everything?

Gonna put in overtime so I can play better next week. A true leader doesn’t make mistakes in crunch tine! Gotta be better! No other choice!Poor performance, but I appreciate the positive attitude rather than blaming someone else (Has Payton told him he’s a leader? Is that almost a captain?)
He’s been off a while and hasn’t practiced much. It’ll be interesting to hear the points of view of his detractors when he returns to his regular mode (sometimes awesome).

I always liked his attitude and apparent dedication, just wish i liked his on the field play a little more.

Between the food and the game yesterday
I came dangerously close to cardiac arrest yesterday. I was watching the second half at my girlfriends parent’s house, and her cousin comes over late in the fourth wearing a Michael Irvin jersey and talking a bunch of nonsense. I kept calmly explaining that the Saints are never out of a game, and thank J1000 that Malcolm Jenkins backed me up. My smirk at the end of the game was all the trash talk I needed.
Bless that official that didn’t award the timeout to Payton at the end of the game as well. I will never understand why coaches will “ice” a kicker and give him two shots at anything over 50 yards. I know they’re kickers, but they’re also professionals, and at that distance, I’d rather only give him one try and live with it than cancel out a miss. If I were a kicker, I’d just glance over at the opposing sideline and see if the coach is standing near an official. I’d feel a lot of my stress melt away if I saw the other team’s coach eyeballing the ref, knowing I’m probably going to get two shots at the FG.

Then they didn't appreciate the noise levels of Saints fans after the game
Every ounce of animosity came out in the chanting, dancing, clapping and second lines throughout the hallways while everyone was exiting the stadium. If I was a Cowboys fan I would have been seriously pissed. One woman came up to us and said “where’s your 4 other rings?” I said “you mean your rings from 15 years ago?” Lol keep on grabbing at straws sweetie. The noise didn’t stop until you were out of the parking lot hahaha.
After that this rivalry is going to be a dirty thing every year. I hope this becomes a tradition on Thanksgiving!! Would love it so much!!

Hans,
Good predictions this week. When I first saw your 450 yards prediction I scoffed (scoffed, harrumphed, and guffawed, I tells ya), but you nailed it. I thought Jenkins should have received the Gobler award, but I’m not surprised Brees got it. Jenkins is showing skill & class. I also liked his post-game comment about the play, “All I can say about that is, God is good.”
"Dang! The Saints won the Super Bowl!" - my wife, Meso "Happy" Hu Dat.
thanks
by my count I’m a strong 2 out of 3, and with a little leeway/generosity my vague “shaky snaps on placekicking” may get a nod – there was one snap that looked like maybe it was a little high on a kick…we’ll see.
I agree that the Gobbler should have gone to Jenkins, or at least a split prize to the combo (like Brangelina) – MalBrees, or DrewJenk.
It's gonna be a great year.
by Hans Petersen on Nov 26, 2010 12:08 PM CST up reply actions
I think you're close enough to 3 of 3.
Your 2nd one was “Place kicking game is shakey, but with no misses (only near-misses).” I thought that high snap qualified as shakey, and I believe 1 or more kicks were near the right side of the goal post, but IMO the main part of that prediction was “no misses.” Close enough to get my vote.

Did Lance Moore get dinged up?
I was trying to think of a reason why Porter would be returning a punt late in a game since he hasn’t been doing that since he bobbled some in preseason.
"Aristotle was not Belgian. The central message of Buddhism is not 'every man for himself.' And the London Underground is not a political movement. Those are all mistakes, Otto. I looked 'em up."
in the press conference
Payton mentioned he was dinged up, and in the same comment, mentioned Moore having trouble finding punts in the lights – not sure if those two things are related…

“Jenkins Instant Atonement Saves Saints – Corner forces fumble to foil Cowboys upset”
Jon Saraceno. He got it half right, Williams was MalJenked. But “upset”? What? Because Da Boys led by 4 point for a few minutes? How is that an “upset”? Because American’s Team could not lose on Thanksgiving Day, even though they’re having the s******* season in almost 20 years? I declare that the Cowboys must suffer more humilation, indefinitely.
I'm on a party line wonderin' all the time who's on the other end?
I'm pissed
I guess it’s been over 20 years since 1989 when they won one game. But the Saints were favored in this game by 2.5, I believe. It is in no way an upset. The Saints won the first half and the Cowboys pretty much won the second half, but lost the game. That is not an upset unless you’re a Cowboys fan.
I'm on a party line wonderin' all the time who's on the other end?
They have to say whatever they can to make themselves look better.
Seems to be a trend with teams that lose to the Saints. Why can’t anyone just lose?
