In a report on ESPN, it sounds like Al Harris is going to be released by the Green Bay Packers this week. Harris, a two time Pro Bowler, has been battling back from knee and leg injuries suffered last year. Apparently he's been back and practicing with the team, although it's unknown from at least my stand point and where he is in his comeback. He lost his starting job due to the injury, and it appears the Packers are willing to move on without him.
Here's the thing. We lost Gay for the year. Porter, Greer, and Robinson have been hurt and Robinson is still out. Is it worth bringing Al in for a tryout during the bye week if he gets released? We obviously had excellent luck with the last long-haired Packer corner to come our way. One has to think that if Harris is healthy enough to practice, which he has been, he's healthy enough to contribute. Yes he's older, but to pick him up for the rest of the year to help teach Robinson the ropes while shoring up our depth sounds like a good idea to me if he can be attained for the right price. He would give us additional veteran leadership and add to our versatility.
