Roddy White Continues to Tweet Like an Idiot
I think the title let's you know how I feel about all of this, so I will refrain from much more editorial.
I don't mind the trash talking against the Saints but I CANNOT STAND when people bring Hurricane Katrina, the city of New Orleans or it's citizens (of which I am one) into the conversation.
Here's what the wide receiver said via Twitter earlier today...
I don't know why everybody mad for the saints I made a comment on wht trent dilfer said on tv it had nothing to do with them...The grace of god gave them tht championship so tht city wouldn fall apart now and now they think they hot #!@%*# in my chad voice child please...The first time we played them their coach gone say after we won the game thts a good win for yall like the saints are the colts...The saints win one championship and want to go crazy well yall ass aint winning this year we gone make sure tht doesn't happen
There's a line, Roddy. You just crossed it.

Naw
he was only out a few series after that and came back. But still he ROCKED him. If we go in there with the focus we need we can def beat the Falcons at home. If I’m not mistaken…weren’t we the last team to beat them in the GA dome. I don’t think Ryan played but we still proved we can win in that hostile enviroment because that was still a close game.

Hasn’t Drew Brees said on numerous occasions that it was “destiny” or a higher calling that brought him to New Orleans? To help the city rebuild, to bring us a championship, etc. I guess all of that suddenly becomes trash talk, when someone other than one of our own is spewing it.

I don’t think he’s making fun of us. He’s just stating his own belief that God intervened to bring us joy las season and that magic carpet ride is now over. I personally don’t believe either to be the case persay, regardless of whether it’s Brees, Payton, White, the local media or the national media that’s spewing it. Last season had absolutely nothing to do with Katrina. The 2005 season opener at Carolina? Definitely. It brought the team closer together in the face of unknown adversity. The 2006 re-opening of the Dome? Sure, I can buy that. Sense of pride, playing for a purpose. Whatever. 4 1/2 years later? In MY Chad voice, child please. Knock it off with the sob story already. We overcame. We’re moving forward. Did the Giants beating the Patriots symbolize the resilency of NYC? Surely Joe Montana must have been drafted by the 49ers, to appease the handful of 1906 earthquake victims still around to see it. If you’re going to dwell on the unrelated past, you need to be able to take the praise AND the knocks associated with it.

And it clearly gave that city something to be proud about and something to celebrate together. He is NOT trying to say that certain people didn’t do anything or that people haven’t suffered or even that Katrina was no big deal, that my friends is a FACT!

The problem with comments like this and Roddy’s is that it suggests that the Saints somehow didn’t really earn it. It was luck (or an NFL conspiracy, if you’re a Vikings fan), but it couldn’t possibly have been because the Saints were, and are, one of the elite NFL teams.
It wasn’t luck, destiny, the Flying Spaghetti Monster, or any other excuse you try to cling to. The Saints won the Super Bowl because they are an excellent team that can beat any team in the NFL. Not just any given Sunday, but every Sunday.
by HB-NOLA on Dec 22, 2010 8:52 PM CST up reply actions 1 recs
Yeah people talk about “team of destiny” as if we had it easy. We had a crapload of injuries last year, we were just able to win anyway. We faced a gauntlet of hall-of-fame QBs in the playoffs, and defeated all three. And intercepted all three as well. We had the toughest possible road as far as opponent seeds (4, 2, and then the other #1). We had an expected strength of schedule in the top 10. In the end, it turned out lower, but we still played a lot of good teams and beat most of them (actually all but Dallas).
Did luck play a role? Of course. It always does. But that still didn’t mean we didn’t have to fight and scrape for what we earned.
now, I can agree with that...

In my opinion its not that bad
I just think him continuing to throw gas on the fire is kinda in bad taste. The more he talks the more insecure he seems. I posted a fanshot of his first tweet calling us Aints. To me it just came out of nowhere because none our players or fans came at the falcons like that. Dilfer was the one who voiced his opinion about the Falcons, he doesn’t play for the team. So to be derogatory (don’t know it I spelled that right lol) towards the Saints that way was uncalled for to me. If anyone is to blame for this whole trash talk situation its Dilfer. LOL
But in all honesty his statement about the city could have been much worse. I don’t like the whole ‘so the city wouldn’t fall apart reference" but its all good. Let him keep talking. Believe me GW and the D are looking at this. He’s going to get a couple of Brett Favre shots on Monday night.

“I just think him continuing to throw gas on the fire is kinda in bad taste.”
That’s about as far as I’d take it, too. Remember, it was Saints fans that originally coined the term “Aints” in the first place. When we call the Falcons “Dirty Birds” it isn’t being used in teh same affectionate way Jammal Anderson intended for it to be used. We’re using it devisively. Dirty as in you’r etrash. You suck. Bungles, Iggles, Cowgirls, Vikequeens, the list goes on and on. I’ll admit, it’s unusual to hear an actually PLAYER using such a term, but so what if they do? To knock them because of that is just hypocritcal on our part as fans. If it comes back to haunt him in the form of a fired up Saints defense or something of the like, then he wrote a check his butt couldn’t cash. I’m personally not sweating it one way or the other. Then again, I wouldn’t sweat it if he called us the worst football team in NFL history. We aren’t, by the way. We’re the 5th worst. .003 pts ahead of our red clad friends from Georgia.

Re: #25 ... CUT THAT CHUMP.
Is it even in bad taste? I say chirp away Roddy. At the end of the day we’ll see who the better team is. I can remember back in the 06 season playoffs (technically in 2007) when a Steeler ran his mouth about the Pats. The Patriot players didn’t say much and proceeded to smoke them. That’s what great teams do…they don’t talk…they just win. If the Saints want to be great, take this opportunity to show the current leaders of the NFC what it means to let your play do the talking and what it is to play great football.
It’s also important to remember that not all “bulletin board” material makes a lick of difference. If it always did, I would’ve hated to see the game Chad Johnson would have hung on us in 2006. Also, Joe Namath would just be “that dude who wore panty hose”.

From a statistical standpoint, I agree. He was instrumental in the AFL merger coming to pass, however. He also took the game to another level, in terms of passing frequency. Not saying that’s a good thing, just that it’s notable.

Re: #25 ... CUT THAT CHUMP.
What is debatable…is that the Jets would have been much better off if he had not passed so frequently. He was/is a funny guy who liked/likes his wine women and song. But he was simply an above average QB. At least he did make it entertaining.

You’re not kidding…ever listen to his hour long weekly show on Sirius? There’s little more on earth more painful to listen to than that.
But could you agree that for the most part, for those that do trash talk in football, it’s seldom backed up. It seems those are the teams that end up losing. Joe Namath seems to have caught a lucky break. What was his stat line in that game? 200 yards and no TDs or something like that?
Namath is deservedly in the Pro Football Hall of Fame
Joe Namath is in the Professional Football Hall of Fame. While his career statistics are not exceptional, Namath was the game’s first true media superstar and Namath was the first quarterback to throw for 4,000 yards during the 14 game 1967 season. This feat was not to be achieved again until Dan Fouts topped 4,000 yards during the 1979 season in a 16 game season. Namath threw for 4,000 yards under old rules that gave much less protection to both the quarterback and receivers. Namath’s play on the field in the years before his knees seriously limited his mobility helped evolve the quarterback position and the NFL style of play from a run oriented ball control game to today’s more open passing style. Perhaps the accolades of experts say it best. Hall of Fame coach Bill Walsh stated that Namath was “the most beautiful, accurate, stylish passer with the quickest release I’ve ever seen.” Hall of Fame coach Don Shula stated that Namath was “one of the 3 smartest quarterbacks of all time.” Much like Gayle Sayers and Sandy Koufax, one can only wonder how much better Namath’s statistics would have been had he avoided injuries.
You don’t have to like him. But you can’t deny what he did.
And so it's true, pride comes before a fall
I'm telling you so that you won't lose all
Would never deny his accomplishments. I simply don’t feet that his accomplishments were HoF worthy is all. Notable, yes…HoF worthy..no.

"I was not on the boat in question" -Darren Sharper
Re: #25 ... CUT THAT CHUMP.
Agreed. Here’s why, in my opinion, why he’s not hall of fame worthy based on his “on the field” accomplishments. The man was 62-63 in his career. Now, granted sometimes people just get on bad teams…but good QBs are supposed to raise the level of play around him. With the exception of the 68 and 69 season, his numbers are even far, far worse. He rarely completed more than 50% of his passes and his TD to INT ratio is horrid.
Now i’m sure people will say “Jeff it was a different era”. However, you can take premier QBs from every era before and after, from Y.A. Tittle to Sammy Baugh, to Otto Graham and they all had better records, better completion percentages and better raitios in an era were it was even MORE difficult to pass the ball. He was a ground breaking guy….i just don’t think his true ground breaking achievements had as much to do with what he did on the field, as off it.
"Aristotle was not Belgian. The central message of Buddhism is not 'every man for himself.' And the London Underground is not a political movement. Those are all mistakes, Otto. I looked 'em up."
“i just don’t think his true ground breaking achievements had as much to do with what he did on the field, as off it.”
I agree with this. I also don’t feel as though achievements on the field should carry any more (or less) weight than those off it, as long as those achievements are pertaining to the game of professional football. That’s why I have no problem with him being in the HOF. The same holds true for Pete Rozelle and a number of other non-players. The trouble there being that Namath was never technically an “executive”, so he doesn’t qualify for that designation going in. Still, that shouldn’t diminish his importance as an ambassador to the game … as well as an immensely popular (read: famous … root wor: fame) player during his era.
"I was not on the boat in question" -Darren Sharper
Re: #25 ... CUT THAT CHUMP.
You run into issues though where if someone was good as a player and good as an executive or ambassador does that make them HoF worthy if they were great at neither? Where it’s true the whole is greater than the sum of the parts, it makes it incredibly difficult to justify. It’s a slippery slope. I find it odd though (and i’m not saying you’re doing this) when people get up in arms about people thinking guys are HoF worthy etc. There’s nothing wrong with simply being very, very good.
"Aristotle was not Belgian. The central message of Buddhism is not 'every man for himself.' And the London Underground is not a political movement. Those are all mistakes, Otto. I looked 'em up."
I saw Namath play in person. If you had, would would understand why he is HOF.
If Pro is the opposite of Con, what is the opposite of Progress? Congress!
-Men's Restroom - House of Representatives, Washington, DC
“if someone was good as a player and good as an executive or ambassador does that make them HoF worthy if they were great at neither?”
It certainly doesn’t make them NOT worthy. Again, fame does not necessarily equal greatness. William Hung is famous. If there was an American Idol HOF, he’d be a shoo-in inductee. That doesn’t mean he was a great (or even good) performer on the show. In my mind, the HOF is nothing more than a conversation piece. A scrapbook of noteworthy individuals, artifacts, video footage, etc. Do you typically pick up someone else’s photo album, start flipping through the pages, suddenly stop in your tracks and say “whoa, now THIS kid is ugly. He doesn’t really belong in here” then proceed to tear that page out? That kid is someone’s child or grandchild. Or nephew or niece. There’s probably a REASON he’s in that album, outside of his physical appearance. For reasons outside of your opinion on what’s “important” in a photo album (beauty), this particular kid’s inclusion is important to someone. Otherwise, his picture wouldn’t be in there.
"I was not on the boat in question" -Darren Sharper
Re: #25 ... CUT THAT CHUMP.
To illustrate, I’d personally have no problem with Joe Delaney, Pat Tillman, Doug Williams, Randall Cunningham or Bo Jackson being inducted into the HOF. Of these five players, I think the only one you could make a fairly solid argument for, based on his on-the-field career accomplishments alone, is Cunningham.
"I was not on the boat in question" -Darren Sharper
Re: #25 ... CUT THAT CHUMP.
Interesting. We simply view the Hall as a different entity I suppose. Although I have also been a proponent of a separate wing in the hall for noteworthy individuals whose accomplishments on the field weren’t HoF worthy alone.
"Aristotle was not Belgian. The central message of Buddhism is not 'every man for himself.' And the London Underground is not a political movement. Those are all mistakes, Otto. I looked 'em up."
That already exists, to some extent. I mean, they have Dempsey’s shoe, entire sections dedicated to other professional leagues, including the AFL, etc. I personally don’t understand why a CFL only player has yet to be inducted. Ron Lancaster belongs based on on-the-field accomplishments, imo. At least, just as much as Ron Mix does.

The only people who took it too far
Was the national media making the Katrina-superbowl connection. That was the stupidest connection I’ve ever heard. Now that New Orleans has a superbowl, all the socio-economic problems that Katrina exposed suddenly melts away in happiness? That does a disservice to New Orleans and everyone else.
Agreed 100%. Though, I do blame the Saints and the local media, also. We’ve beaten that pity drum for far too long. I don’t need a renaissance side plot to feel good about a championship 43 years coming. Sorry, but I just don’t.

Re: #25 ... CUT THAT CHUMP.
Exactly
the National media really kinda pissed me off with constantly talking about how a Championship pretty much saved the city. And it stills pisses me off now when the reference it. Its like enough already. I’m from Alexandria so I don’t know how the people of N.O. really feel about how the media portrayed them but to me it came off as them saying N.O. is NOTHING without their football team. N.O. can’t rebuild with out the help of Drew Brees and Sean Payton. Money can’t be made in N.O. unless they have their football team. There is no one that can give the people of N.O. any kind of hope unless its Drew Brees. Don’t get be wrong I LOVE DREW BREES!! I mean LOVE HIM. The guy is everything you want in a QB. But you never see anything uplifting in the media about N.O. unless the Saints are tacked on to it. Just bothers me…

Literally. Not tens of thousands. Under 19,000.

Also Agreed 100%. Although I haven’t been to New Orleans in 6-7 years and have never lived there. So I’m not the best person to ask.

yeah that's what I think
it will make a better game for sure. But I hope he doesn’t keep going with it cuz depending on what he says it can turn into a PR nightmare for you guys that Aurthur Blank has been trying to avoid since Vick. I doubt it would go that far but you know if he says something about the city the media will blow it out of proportion.

Re: #25 ... CUT THAT CHUMP.
i would like to address his comments one at a time
1. I don’t know why everybody mad for the saints I made a comment on wht trent dilfer said on tv it had nothing to do with them
very good job using superior logic to deflect the attention away from the saints and towards dilfer.
2. The grace of god gave them tht championship
sorry sbmvp drew brees, it was jesus helping you throw the ball, so lets give credit where its due.
3. now they think they hot #!@%*#
thats correct, we are hot #!%*#... the champs usually are hot #!%*#.
4. The first time we played them their coach gone say after we won the game thts a good win for yall like the saints are the colts
he could have made excuses, but instead he merely pointed out the obvious fact that winning that game was tremendously important for atl (we would gladly take the win back if yall dont want it)… and who the #!@%*# are the colts?
5. The saints win one championship and want to go crazy well yall ass aint winning this year we gone make sure tht doesn’t happen
why hasnt atl won one if they are so easy. should we eat some humble pie and bow down to the powerhouse that is atl?

Roddy does get a bit yappy, when provoked.
He’s like Marty McFly except he’s a lot more McFly. 99% of these guys come from pretty poor situations and that goes for Saints too. I know what we expect from our pro athletes but that doesn’t change the fact that they are still growing up too. So wether it’s a wife beating lineman or a jaw jacking WR we probably need to tone down our expectations a bit. Btw I don’t condone wife beating, I’m just saying these guys aren’t saints they make mistakes. Take some of this chatter with a grain of salt.

Here's my problem
He offers no justification. He’s basically calling out a 12-2 team, saying they’re not as good as they appear and won’t succeed in the playoffs….and why? Because we remind him of the 2003 Chiefs, a terrible defensive team that has little in common with the Falcons.
That’s why it’s stupid.

But the Saints can beat any team in the NFL, including the Falcons. I can say the same thing about the Falcons.

I agree with you somewhat, but I think what he meant is that the Falcons are not unbeatable because they have some significant
flaws in their resume which include a pass defense that is ranked 20th in the NFL (and was 27th a couple of weeks ago). He didn’t say that but I think he implied that there was a weakness and that comparison to the 2003 Chiefs is th most striking.

Not sure I follow you guys.
I’m pretty sure saying that “The grace of god gave them tht championship so tht city wouldn fall apart now” isnt the same as “Hahaha, look at all those Katrina victims”.
Not that it wasn’t a little classless to say the Saints didn’t earn that championship (which they did earn, which is what I would be mad about if I were a Saints fan), but to me he wasn’t poking fun at Katrina victims. If at all, maybe he is just a little confused, since everyone and their brother (media I’m looking at you) believes Da’ Saints pulled the city together, which from my understanding couldn’t be further from the truth. Seems some very hard working Americans coming together fixed the city, but used the Saints to get their mind off a very horrible time in the city’s history.
You can call Roddy dumb, and some will agree. You can call him un-empathetic, and I’d agree. But its a stretch to say he is taking shots at that devastating disaster, from his remarks.
(My opinions are taking in to account both this thread and the Falcons thread of same type on The Falcoholic)
Roddy has an edge (how many WR in this league don’t), but from following him since the draft, I really don’t think he is a bad guy who would do what he is accused of by you guys, and some on the Falcons blog.
He talks a lot. A whole lot. Should he take some heat on the field Monday, absolutely. Is he a loud-mouth who makes fun of people who have gone through a natural disaster, I don’t think so. (Well maybe the loud mouth part)

Here’s the thing about Dilfer Dave Choate, he’s usually right or he’s right more than he’s wrong which is rare for an ESPN talking head. Last year he said Saints would roll the Patriots and also said Dallas would beat Saints because A) Jay Ratliff would crush Brees from up the middle and Demarcus Ware would abuse Bushrod.
Check and check. Just saying.
No offense, but that's two examples for the team he probably knows best in the NFL
I’m not even saying he’s wrong. I’m saying he offered no evidence as to why the Falcons might lose aside from “hey, it could happen!” I don’t respect that particular brand of analysis.
Sign up for a free account today to join the discussion about all things Atlanta Falcons!
No offense Dave...i'm willing to bet if he said the exact same but opposite for the game earlier this year....you wouldn't have had a problem with it.
You may not respect that kind of analysis…because it’s obviously not analysis, merely opinion…but this is all seeming a lot more like people bristling up simply because someone doesn’t like their team. If the shoe was on the other foot, I have a feeling you’d have had his promo posted on your site in big bold print explaining to everyone how much of a genius Dilfer is. Such is the way of fandom.
"Aristotle was not Belgian. The central message of Buddhism is not 'every man for himself.' And the London Underground is not a political movement. Those are all mistakes, Otto. I looked 'em up."
There's an element of that, I'll grant you
But here’s the thing: I think if you have an inflammatory opinion, you ought to be able to back it up.
As Ralph notes a little further down here, Dilfer clarified his comments later. Okay, good. If Dilfer said “the Falcons won’t beat the Saints at home and aren’t good because X and Y,” nobody freaks out. I still write the article, but I’m not at all bothered by it, because I can reasonably break down his points.
But he didn’t. He offered a comparison to a team that is in no way similar to the Falcons and an opinion without reason. If you’re going to put that out there, I think you ought to be able to back it up, at least a little.
Sign up for a free account today to join the discussion about all things Atlanta Falcons!
No way similar? Uh-oh, Falconer-boy, you asked for it:
2003 Chiefs: 369.4 YPG total offense
2010 Falcons: 349.4 YPG total offense
2003 Chiefs: 356.7 YPG total defense
2010 Falcons: 332.9 YPG total defense
2003 Chiefs: 248.8 YPG passing, 24 TDs, QB rating 92.4
2010 Falcons: 226.7 YPG passing, 25 TDs (so far), QB rating 90.5
In all of the above cases, a difference of almost exactly 20 yards, and the TD number and QB rating is similar. But no similarity whatsoever, no…
2003 Chiefs: 4.3 YPC, 120.6 YPG rushing offense
2010 Falcons: 3.9 YPC, 122.6 YPG rushing offense
2003 Chiefs: 6 fumbles lost, +19 turnover
2010 Falcons: 5 fumbles lost, +13 turnover
Some ENORMOUS differences there!
2003 Chiefs: 20th ranking, 58.8% completion against, 210.2 YPG against passing, 19 pass TDs, 25 INTs, 32.6% 1st down conversion rate, opposing QB rating 70.5, 36 sacks
2010 Falcons: 20th ranking, 65.0% completion against, 226.8 YPG against passing, 21 pass TDs, 19 INTs, 33.1% 1st down conversion rate, opposing QB rating 83.7, 27 sacks
You don’t beat the 2003 chief’s pass defense in a SINGLE category listed. The only ones you do are points per game (which isn’t strictly a passing stat), and total yards given up, but you still have two games to play so that last one is unlikely to stand.
The only area you have the 2003 Chiefs totally blown away is rush defense. In every other area, you’re at least in the ballpark, and in some you’re rather eerily similar. So please tell me again that these two teams are “in no way similar”? Pretty please? With a cherry on top?
What about?
Time of possession, 3rd and 4th down efficiency, penalties because those things are why we are winning.

by Ball Hawk on Dec 22, 2010 5:26 PM CST via mobile up reply actions
You are definitely better in TOP and in penalties against you. Interestingly enough you are again extremely similar in penalties against your opponents.
But I was primarily worried about pointing out that “in no way similar” is a pretty bad overstatement. There are several areas where you are different, especially in run defense. And, as DTF points out below, team makeup.
Well that's what I mean.
If I tried hard enough I could probably find ways that any team is simular to any team. It is the differences that are causing us to win and what makes us not really compareable at all to those chiefs. Not to mention we have a guy who was on that team who has said many times this is a far better team and more complete than that one.

That is a devastating retort
Nobody’s going to believe me when I tell you I was referring to the way the roster was constructed, will they?
We’re talking about a team that was peaking offensively, with Trent Green, Priest Holmes and Eddie Kennison all 30 or over. They had the best line in football, which enabled so much of that stellar offensive performance.
And the defensive performance was outrageously fluky, as they finished 29th in points allowed in 2004 and just generally self-destructed. This Falcons defense is made of better, younger players…period.
Generally speaking, that Chiefs team was built on a powerhouse offense and a defense that put together an improbably good year. I don’t believe the Falcons are constructed on such a pillowy foundation, though I’ve been wrong before.
Statistically, that’s almost eerie. I may hide under the blankets tonight.

Statistically, those total offense and defense YPG numbers are
very big differences. 20 yards is a lot on the AVERAGE. Averaging 369 yards instead of 349 yards is the difference between being the #7 rated offense or the #15 rated offense. I mean your throwing out numbers with “seemingly” small differences, but theres a big difference between 27 sacks and 36 sacks- that could be #2 in sacks or #13!! +19 TO’s compared to +13 TO’s = HUGE difference. If you looked at the RANKINGS in each category I bet you PROVED Daves point about DILWAD.

All stats in football are pretty meaningless in isolation. Even if the stats were identical it would mean nothing.
The point was not the stats. It was that “in no way similar” is a gross overstatement. I meant absolutely nothing more nor less than that.
And you got me there
I’m prone to hyperbole and I hadn’t done more than a cursory look for the stats. I deserve to be called out for that. Kudos.

Dave
He’s no idiot. He keeps track of both teams and it’s obvious to him who the better team is. Facts are facts.

I think NO residents should be insulted
the city was not going to fall apart if the Saints didn’t win the Super Bowl. That city and the people that reside there showed a resliency and a spirit that was remarkable. I’ll venture that NOLA would have survived. The Super Bowl was a big plus, but the city wasn’t going “to fall apart now.” If that were the case, that would have happened in 2005.
If Pro is the opposite of Con, what is the opposite of Progress? Congress!
-Men's Restroom - House of Representatives, Washington, DC
That’s what bothered me about it. Don’t get me wrong – it was one of the absolute high points for our city in the last five years, but let’s not act like we weren’t on our way back as a city before February of this year.
amen, amen and amen and why just you and me picking up on this?

Dilfer actually went into deeper analysis on Cowherd’s radio show. He said the Falcon secondary has issues and he thinks their offensive line would struggle to pick up Saints blitzes if they were forced to throw 30+ times.
The secondary has some issues
But it’s been much, much better than in 2009. It’s a much more opportunistic unit, which is helpful.
The blocking I’ll grant you. Ryan’s been sacked more this season than in any of the previous years. I’m happy to have a logical explanation, but I wonder why he didn’t do it in the first place.

Grimes is good…lot of talent there. Dunta…I’m sorry…was a waste of your owner’s good money. I hear a lot about Decoud…but what I see is a hard hitter who has some trouble in coverage. You obviously would be a much better judge, however, as i don’t watch the Falcons all that often. I stick by my comment about Robinson, however.
"Aristotle was not Belgian. The central message of Buddhism is not 'every man for himself.' And the London Underground is not a political movement. Those are all mistakes, Otto. I looked 'em up."
Trust me when I say this, Dunta was worth it
He may not have the fancy INT stats that Grimes has, but they just don’t throw the ball in Dunta’s way.

It’s your team, so I’ll bow to the experts. I just remember hearing a whole lot of criticism against Robinson in the first 1/3 of the season for getting beat a lot and not earning his paycheck. Again, I don’t get to watch a lot of their games, I only go by what I heard. I did watch a lot of Texans games in the year before he went to you guys…and he was definitely overrated there. Perhaps he’s tightened his game in the second half.

BTW
Don’t get me wrong, he wasn’t worth 57 Mill, but we had to pay him that because somebody else was going to do it. He is the main reason Grimes has 5 INTs

Actually I think our secondary fairs MUCH better this game
Williams will be covering Moore in Nickel packages instead of Owens, also, brees won’t be taking advantage of Spoon and Moore who were playing in only their 3rd NFL game in the first matchup, they are much more prepared for brees this time. And, grimes has turned into possibly the best ball hawking CB in the NFL. So I think we can matchup much better this time around.

I think Dilfer’s Daily internet clip I saw on ESPN.com is probably designed to be under 2 minutes so no time to get into heavy analysis. Full Disclosure: I think Dilfer is best talking head. His opinions are at least backed by football theories and not cliche Bull@#%% like Millen and Ditka.
He's a cut above Ditka and Millen
Not my favorite by a long shot, but hey, I respect your opinion. Guy’s just been so down on the Falcons all season that his shtick is tiring me out.

I just want to quickly sum up my thoughts on this one more time...
- I’m not butt hurt over what Roddy White said. It’s a free country. He can say what he wants.
- I don’t personally get butt hurt over anything anyone says about the Saints or Katrina. I’m thick skinned. But that doesn’t mean it’s right and that doesn’t mean OTHERS might not get butt hurt.
- I agree with others here who have said that the Saints should NOT be equated with Katrina anymore. It’s been long enough. The team could have NEVER come back and we would still be here as a city.
- I DO, however, think that a winning football team can mean extra money for our local economy, which I like. So there is a correlation between the two.
- I think if Roddy White wanted to talk trash, he should have kept it to football. He shouldn’t have mentioned the city, it’s fans or it’s people. I’m not sure what he was attempting to gain with that nonsense.
- For anyone to think that New Orleans was “saved” by a Super Bowl or football in general does NOT give credit to all the hard work everyone has done to rebuild. That is largely where my problem lies with his statement.

Good to know you’re not “butt hurt” Dave…that would have devastated your fan base.
Here’s the thing that Roddy should have done. Dilfer went after his Falcons and we just happened to be the team he used. Fine…if Roddy didn’t like it…Roddy should have gone after Dilfer. He didn’t. He went after the Saints…that right there invalidates anything he has to say in my opinion.
If the Akkadian’s routed one of Assyrian’s cities….the Assyrian’s didn’t start walking around talking crap about the smiths who made their bronze weapons. That’s just stupid. (To ease the pain of history…in this case Akkadian’s = Dilfer, Assyrian’s = Falcons, and the Saints are the bronze weapons).

I didn't want to admit this but...
in my office pool (kinda it’s actually a total different company holding it, one of my staff members has family in it and she invited me) I actually picked Atlanta to win, so either way it goes, I won’t be disappointed.

In either case, he’s doing fairly well with English as a second language so cut him some slack, Jack.
Now let’s hope our guys hit him in the jizzle fizzle and knock out his dangling participle!

Absolutely not. Most Saints players talk with their mouth and write with a pen. That’s considered standard procedure here in the Deep South.

It’s obvious the guy is not well educated. All the bull about this is slang, hood, ghetto or what not talk is bull. But anyway, it was hard to read but we got his point. It was no mistake, he meant what he said. But the one obvious thing that I noticed from the start, is that this is a man that is so scared of losing this upcoming game. Scared because out of all the previous games they’ve played this year, he knows the Saints are their worst feared team to play.
All he had to say in short was, Yo Aint’s we be sced don’t woop us too bad.
I don't think it's uneducated.
But, it’s beyond the slang, ebonics, or jank…..
It reads like someone in a tizzy, not well thought out, not clever, channeling Chad in ways other than his voice: immature, emotional, and insecure.
Yeah, the stuff they accuse us of if we react.
