My Magnificent Black and Gold Warriors
Memories
I’ll never forget where I was for the Saints first playoff win.
I was in Boca Raton at the home of my future in-laws, meeting Breesus Christ Superstarlet’s parents for the first time. When I got there, they informed me of all the activities they had planned for the week. I politely told them that it all sounded very nice, but that at 3pm either at their home or at a sports bar I would be watching the Saints/Rams game. They didn’t seem to mind, and it was settled. Then came the game. It all started off great as the Saints established a big lead, but then everything fell apart and it looked like the Saints would blow it again. During the apparent collapse, I had trouble containing my profanities and outrage, making the in-laws a bit uncomfortable. Then when Hakim dropped the ball, I ran laps of joy around the living room with tears streaming down my face. I wasn’t sure I’d ever be invited back to Breesus Christ Superstarlet’s home again, but hey, the saints had finally done it! If it was to work out with their daughter, they would eventually have to find out that I’m a rabid saints fan, so might as well get it out of the way. Luckily, it all worked out and we’re still together 7 years and 2 kids later. And when it’s Sunday during football season, nobody needs to ask what I’ll be doing.

but the thing is, that year for the Rams (2000) their defense played much worse than it had in 1999

I watched that game in my apartment in Louisville
after driving back from Memphis that morning after watching UofL lose the Liberty Bowl to Colorado State the day before.
After the game, I went out to bars with friends who wer in town for New Year’s and I floated the whole night without even a drink, watching the ESPN highlights at every bar, hardly being good company at all, but enjoying myself immensely…
During the 3rd Q/early 4th Q of the game, I called and spoke with both my parents and my brother in law, saying how great it was that we were going to win…and then we nearly didn’t. That was the last time I’ve ever spoken to anyone from my family during a game.
It's gonna be a great year.
If a few of you wouldn't mind giving me some of your thoughts ill try and keep this short cause I don't want to take over a thread at all.
Im just curious what you guys feel right now are your biggest weaknesses on your team? Needs that when we do reach the draft you think need to be addressed?
And on that note thanks and good luck the rest of the way this season.

I was in Griesheim, Germany
It’s not easy to catch a Saints game on AFN. They tend to lean toward the “big” teams. But a playoff game is a guarantee. It was awesome. Best part is that sometimes during commercials AFN leaves a shot of the field with the announcers’ mics are left on.
There is some good Irony here
If anyone else doesn’t remember we had to beat The Rams twice that season. The first time to make the playoffs then again in the playoff game. Heres hoping that history repeats itself and we also take care of the dirty birds in the playoffs!!!
When I say WHO DAT U say TWO DAT!!!

I was at the game
Hakim had our number all game and was a big reason for the Rams comeback in the second half. When he fumbled, the Dome got so loud and everyone was just in shock that it actually happened. I’m sure it got surpassed by the Championship Game last year, but it was the loudest I’ve ever heard it in person.
Peyton, I can eat Oreos faster than you!!!!
I was there, as well. Fantastic game, especially by Aaron Brooks and Willie Jackson. Brooks’s 4 TD passes are still a Saints playoff game record. The 1st of which went to Robert Wilson. Good trivia question. Joe Horn got hurt on the 2nd play of the game. I remember the collective groans from the crowd, as we had already endured the loss of Ricky Williams and Jeff Blake earlier that season. Another unsung hero in that game was Sammy Knight. He baited Warner into a red zone interception a couple of series prior to the muffed punt. That was really the turning point in the game, as St. Louis was basically moving up and down the field at will, by that point. No telling if Warner would have led a last minute scoring drive or not. Mike Langsford’s FG kept the Saints out of the playoffs in 1983 and anyone still around 17 years later had to be thinking “here we go again”. I know I was. When Milne fell on the ball, the entire stadium just erupted. It was just as loud and joyful as when Hartley kicked his FG in the NFCCG. I remember walking through the New Orleans Centre and Hyatt Regency on the way out and the windows of both buildings were rattling from all the whooping and hollering going on. Total bedlam, and this overwhelming feeling of disbelief … a.) that we had FINALLY cleared that hurdle and b.) not knowing who our next opponent would be at the time, a true sense of excitement, as we moved forward as a fan base into completely uncharted territory.
