Before you break out the pitchforks on me, just consider this:
I'd rather have Reggie restructure his contract and stay with the Saints..but just in case he doesn't, why not make a straight up trade with San Diego for LT and some draft picks??
First off, you can restructure LT's contract much easier that you would have to with Bush.
Secondly, you get a veteran short-yardage back that would be more than happy to be with a Super Bowl team, and wouldn't have to be the workhorse of their offense as he has been with the 'Bolts. He might not have the speed he once had, but he still has some gas in his tank, and goodness knows he'd be a sizable improvement over Mike (No Cleats) Bell.
Also...since LT is NOT a FA (restricted or unrestricted), and will probably be released from his contract entirely, it won't or shouldn't be a big hit on the Saints's account.
Hell...even Kim would be happier that Reggie's closer to LA. Couldn't do that if he went to Seattle, couldn't he?
Yeah, it's a shot in the dark, and the original idea came from Herm Edwards...but it's worth a thought or two.
OK...now you can fire away.
