It`s a little strange thinking of my home as a foreign land but I guess in this case it is.
Since coming to CSC half way through the Saints glorious season I have truly discovered
the unique love of a city and region to it`s team. No doubt the citizens of Cleveland,Kansas ,
Chicago etc love their teams ,but The Saints are embraced by New Orleans and Louisiana and
the gulf coast in a way no other franchise can come close to emulating. I have said this before
but you guys deserve these special times and more to come, the superbowl 44 pennant will
hang proudly in the dome as a reminder to all long after the parties are over. I must admit that after
we beat the giants and fans started talking about wimming the big one I didn`t have the faith. I only
truly started believing the impossible dream after we beat the Vikes who I believed were the 2nd best
team in the NFL. Strangely I was more emotional after the NFC championship game than the actual
superbowl which I almost considered a formality (no disrespect to the Colts) but they ,in my mind, were
not as tough an opponent.
Just a couple of observations regarding opponents whining after our victories. Yeah it hurts to lose God
knows we have all seen enough defeats over the years to know that. But how you view these defeats and
react is defining. When we went to the NFCC game in Chicago we played thge AFC North that regular
season and I remember seeing the Saints gety beat up by tough Steeler and Ravens teams. Instead of moaning
about their roughing up of Drew I just wished that we had a mean D which could pressure QB`s ,well we got
that now. Also Chicago and the way they stripped the ball in tackles forcing fumbles and takeaways made me
hopefor a New Orleans D to win games . We also had that this season. Couple that aggression with our potent
Offence and in my doubt this season we had the best team and deserved our championship.
I`m beginning to ramble now ,which I promised myself I would try to avoid, but to all those people fretting about
haters and lack of respect ....don`t ,it`s a backhanded compliment which goes with the territory of being a winner.
Look at all the Patriot and Steeler haters. And no one hates the Lions or Browns!!!!
Let`s bask in the glory and mud slinging happy in the knowledge that we are the New Orleans Saints and we
are the World Champions......... Enjoy!
