Could be the sleeper the Saints need
Check this guy out. I have not heard his name mentioned except for the one time I posted it, and no one said anything so I am writing a post to see what you think. Here is the link again: http://collegefootball.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1053376
I think that this guy is a beast. I would rather try him out on DL then OL because he is so tall. I think Drew migh have some problems seeing over this guys head. Which would be good for opposing QBs. It would be like having our own brickwall set up on the line that the QBs can't see over and will have to throw over. What do you guys think??

I saw this article the last time you posted it
and I have to admit, I’m not a draft/stat/who should, could, would, who shall we get…. kinda guy. I watch football like I play cards…..play with the hand dealt. BUT…….this guy sounds like a monster! He has incredible size, obvious intelligence…and if he can hang with the pro game as he did in college, than he would, and probably will be, an asset to any team. Could he even play defense? I agree I’d rather see him chase down an opposing qb or rb, than for Drew to have to ask him to duck when he throws. What little attention I pay to the draft, especially on draft day, will be focused on him. Good eyes SF….wanna email that article to the Saints??? lol
WHO DAT!!! (sue me No Fun League)
Tight end
If he’s a former hoops player, he must have good ball skills. A 6-8, 315-lb. tight end? Jesus1000…think of a 5-9, 190-lb. cornerback trying to take that down in the open field.

Imagine him in a 2-TE set with Shockey...
…what a nightmare for a DC!
You still have an RB (Thomas or Bush) that can kill you; you still have two WR’s (say Colston and Henderson) that can burn you deep.
Are they going to run the ball, how do you stop it? You have 7 big bodies blocking! Are they going to throw it? Who do you cover with, and how are they going to bring the guy down when he catches it?
Yeah, if they can get this guy in a late round, 4 or after, it’s worth taking a flyer on him.
Who Dat? TWO DAT! Do dat AGAIN!!!

By contrast
…a good tight end prospect ought to be able to run lower than 4.8, and the best go all the way down to 4.6.

I'd like to get our hands on Myron Rolle, also.
Snap, place, kick! And it's good! It's good! It's goo-hoo-hood! Pigs have flown! Hell Has frozen over! The Saints are going to the Superbowl!

Here is WalterFootball's assessment
Jared Veldheer, Hillsdale
Height: 6-9. Weight: 321.
Projected 40 Time: 5.25. [as above, he actually ran 5.07]
Projected Round (2010): 2-3.
2/26/10: Jared Veldheer is an athletic tackle who should perform well on Saturday. Unfortunately, Thursday wasn’t so kind to him. Jared Veldheer weighed in at 6-8, 312, but with 33-inch arms. That arm length is ridiculously short for a man of Veldheer’s size.
So I don’t think we have much chance of picking him up late in the 4th, or maybe even the 3rd.

Why don't we have a combine live thread going on?

right..........
because the last time the saints brought in a big “athletically gifted” DL prospect, that really worked out!
