Where are these "PREDICTIONS" coming from

I was just relaxing, winding down from work and I turned the channel to ESPN. Thought I'd catch up on the latest news from Miami. Well Donovan McNabbwas on putting in his two cents and making no sense. Even Donovan "McRib" is picking the Colts in the Super Bowl (no surprise there). The best part was when he said not only are the Colts going to win. They are going to win by 17 because they can get the ball down the field, score lots of points and they can run the ball effectively. Just wondering, aren't the Colts ranked dead last in rushing? He went on to say that Peyton Manningwould probably be pulled in the 4th quarter. I laughed my a** off. Has anyone watched the SAINTS play this year. This is just getting ridiculous. Don't get me wrong I'm glad they are flying under the radar, but at least a little respect would be nice. Just thought I'd throw in my two sense.

Geaux SAINTS.

McNabb ought to know after the trouncing we gave his team.

Snap, place, kick! And it's good! It's good! It's goo-hoo-hood! Pigs have flown! Hell Has frozen over! The Saints are going to the Superbowl!

thats probably why he made the prediction

sour grapes

"These two teams just should not play each other" ...John Madden during a 1991 Saints-Eagles game

by saintsfan77 on Feb 4, 2010 6:49 PM CST reply actions

I think it was the same show....

Steve Young predicted Drew having a bigger day than Manning and a Saints win.

I’ll take Young over McNabb regarding quarterback ability, football knowledge and IQ. McNabb you may recall was the stunned last year when the Eagles lost a game in OT because he didn’t know OT ended as soon as either team scored. How could a professional QB possibly not know that. It’s almost as stupid as picking the Colts to blowout the Saints.

by Drew-Dat on Feb 4, 2010 7:19 PM CST reply actions

I stand corrected.

But the point is still valid. Maybe not as valid, but still valid.

by Drew-Dat on Feb 5, 2010 12:49 AM CST up reply actions

rec'd that

Yes, how can you take anything he says as truth!

"There’s no doubt in my mind that we can win a championship together," Brees said Friday inside the empty media room at the Saints’ headquarters. "Not only for the players and the organization, but for this city. Because no place deserves it more." Drew Brees

Not to say what he said was right

or wrong. But running the ball “effectively” has nothing to do with how many yards you get and where you are ranked. The Colts do run the ball effectively. If they didn’t opposing D’s could just drop back in coverage and play the pass all game. The Colts may not rush for 100+ yards a game, but they run enough to keep the play action working and force the defense to honor the run. That is running the ball effectively.

Again, this is not to promote what McNabb said, just saying that the Colts do just enough “effective” running to keep a D guessing.

So, apparently "Adult Language" isn't allowed in sig lines, so I suppose my new sig will be clean and "G" rated so I can openly discuss football with other blogs. Shame on me for not understanding!

For What It's Worth . . .

. . . I’ve noticed every single computer simulation from Madden, Accuscore, et al, predicting a 3-7 point Saints victory.

Far as I’m concerned, it’s in the bag.

by DrZin on Feb 4, 2010 11:03 PM CST reply actions

actually, Accuscore says the Colts.... but barely.

53% of the 10,000 sims were Colts wins.

But, WhatIfSports has been more accurate that AS, and they pick the Saints… and even though the score is close, their sims are confident.

McNabb has watched the Saints

From the sideline, when we trounced the Eagles.

To save him for what? The Super-Duperbowl?

Looks like we hit Favre so hard even McNabb got hurt!

Fat, dumb, and happy. Hell, two out of three ain't bad!

BOOM...

LFAO at yet another of your comments, JND!!

Does anyone look at the stats anymore?

Sure you can pull Manning in the 4th quarter, it’s not like the Saints have the best 4th quarter offense in the league. The Colts would have to be ahead by 4 tds for Manning to be pulled in the 4th

by Saintsfan75 on Feb 5, 2010 1:36 AM CST reply actions

They may pull Manning in the 4th...

For the same reason that the Pats pulled Brady early—remember??

HA HA

A prediction from Donavon McNabb like that’s valued. Well it may make the gamblers in Philly put their money on the Colts, McNabb robs them again.

The "experts" picking against the Saints irks me to no end.....

……but deep down I love it! If I woulda thunk about it, I would have liked to write down who picked against the Saints and by how much. THAT way, when the game is over, and Tom and Sean and Drew and the rest of the team are parading around the stadium hoisting the Lombardi trophy, I could start my email blitz to each person who STUPIDLY picked against the Saints and say WHO DAT?!?!?! you sorry, self-centered, washed up, sack of Favre! I would pay money to see, after the game, the post game conference, every “expert” (an EX is a had been, a spurt (pert) is a drop of water) shunned when trying to ask a question of the Saints. Disrespect us, we disrespect you. BUT…knowing the Saints are a class organization, that wouldn’t happen.

That's normally my first reaction, then I realize how stupid they're gonna look when we win...

If they believe the trash spewing, they are in for the SHOCK of their lives!

I just wish I were their to see their reactions.

The double standard isn't much of a surprise

The Colts beat the Patriots in a close game and it’s because Peyton Manning and the Colts were just too good. Yet the Saints can’t win close games against teams like the Vikings because they’re just not that good in the eyes of the media. They point to the comparison of the games the starting QBs had against the opposing team in the championship games and say, “Peyton Manning was on fire against the Jets, so the Colts will win.” That line of logic doesn’t work because anyone who thought the Jets were a better team than the Vikings needs an MRI to find a tumor in the brain.

Manning is not invincible. He’s not God’s gift to the position. Last I checked, this game should be bigger than Manning. The Colts are playing the Saints. It’s not Peyton Manning vs. the Saints. The Colts have not played a team like the Saints all season, but the Saints have played teams like the Colts and have beaten them. Did those teams have Peyton Manning? No. But Peyton Manning this season has not been as good as Drew Brees. When you compare the 14-2 record to a 13-3 record, one loss isn’t much of a difference because wins are team stats. It’s taken years for analysts to figure this out in baseball when it comes to Cy Young Award conversations, but it lags in football for some unknown reason.

Brees was ahead in the stats that really matter like completion percentage, passer rating, touchdown passes and a lower interception rate. To come out and say the Colts are going to blow out the Saints, something no team has managed to do all season, is just plain ignorance. But what could you expect coming from the mouth of a guy who admitted that he did not know there were ties in the NFL? If it is a Colts blowout, I’ll gladly eat my words. I just don’t see that happening in the event of a Colts victory.

And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.

by Ace Venom on Feb 5, 2010 11:22 AM CST reply actions

I agree with a lot of that, however...

The Pats went for it on 4th and short because of the 4th quarter success that the Colts were having. If I were the Pats, I’d have gone for it too; Peyton was in a zone. In fact, most pundits don’t point out that Manning STILL had to orchestrate a 40 yd drive with time expiring. He and the Colts deserve credit.
But the Saints beat the Vikes in part because MINN had worked their way into scoring position before they made a mistake. We still WON, but they allowed us more opportunities. (I also hate the implication that it was a gimme FG; he might’ve missed it anyway, it was on the limit of his range, but nobody ever discusses that.)
There IS a difference there, and it’s not really a double standard.
That being said, IND had to pull a LOT more games out right at the end in order to win, whereas the Saints coasted through many of their wins.

Finish Strong.

If anyone is God's gift to the position

it’s Drew Brees That is why we all ask ourselves, What would Breesus do?

If anyone knows a thing or two

about getting blown out in playoff games, it’s McNabb.

Best non-athlete celebrity prediction I've heard thus far.

Jimmy Kimmel, during a conversation about the Saints, New Orleans, the devastation of Katrina and it’s aftermath, etc., ect., said he was pulling for the Colts in spite of that. “I know New Orleans is the sentimental favorite, but I still think people who live in Indianapolis are far worse off”.
