Just a thought.
Now this is not an attempt to stir anything up. Merely an observation.
Was anyone else surprised to see Peyton Manning and Reggie Wayne head towards the locker room while the last seconds of the game ticked away? No celebratory handshake to Brees or Payton or any of the others Saints players?
I know that emotions are high and that there may have been feelings of personal responsibility attached to the loss. Maybe i am naive, but i assumed that Petyon, being the squeaky clean person that he is portrayed as, would have at least tried to be sportsmanlike in his approach to losing.
That being said, i did hear on the NFL channel on satellite radio that the losing team is usually hastily ushered off the field to let the winning team celebrate. But i think that is usually ignored for the high profile members of the teams (i.e. coach and QB).
I have read a few articles about the snub and just wanted to hear other peoples opinion on it. In Canada, the logic is that no matter how bad the battle might have been, once the game is done, the handshake is tradition, no matter the outcome. If you bail on it, you are going to hear about it both from your fans and your teammates.
Keep in mind this is in no way a shot at any Indy fans, just curious as to the mentality of the football fans in the states. Maybe i have played to much hockey.

Good point
It was discussed on Espn2 earlier. And they asked the same question. They thought it was unsportsmanlike as well. Even Skip Bayless was angry with manning not shakin hands after the game. I was a little shocked. That’s not like Peyton manning
Per Drew's interview
today from Disney World Peyton told him he didn’t want to take away from Drew’s moment so he didn’t come talk to him. Drew also said it was a madhouse on the field. Supposedly they exchanged texts later and Peyton was congratulatory. I think Drew is nice enough to cover for someone so it doesn’t turn into an issue so I am not sure what to think. Either way that’s what Drew said.

The bit of peyton's interview i saw
he did say that it was the saint’s field and the saint’s time to celebrate, and that he would congratulate them later, im sure he was genuine, despite the loss
why are you the way that you are? honestly, every time i try to do something fun or exciting, you make it not that way. i hate so much about the things that you choose to be.
Before the game
Peyton was scowling when he got off the bus on the way to the locker room. Scowling. I heard of players putting on a game face but he looked fustrated to me.

I figure that's a neutral action;
while it’s a plus to congratulate the winner, it shouldn’t be a minus not to do so.

I think you can never err on the side of Good Manners
And being a Gracious Gentleman.
Both Qualities Drew showed by giving Peyton an out.
I just think I guy Drew came down from start to finish as Quality in every facet of the play both on and off the field and on the sidelines.

Yep.... Always has been.
You can tell a great deal about a person in how he behaves towards other people. I used to bartend at the Harrah’s hotel in New Orleans and after many games Drew would come in to eat and he was gracious and kind and warm to everyone from the Hostess at the door to the back waiter that cleared his table and filled his water glass…
My father used to say you can tell a true Gentleman not by how he behaves to his peers but how he behaves to the everyday person that they encounter… When you treat a maid as a Lady the Man is a Gentleman.
That is Drew Brees.

I am glad to hear that
he seems super genuine and I appreciate that. I remember trying to get an autograph from Emmit Smith one time. I should have waited for a moment that he wasn’t surrounded by about 8 white women and wasn’t thirty as in he told me he might think about an autograph if I got him a drink of water, and all the women laughed at me.

Colts v. Saints back in the day
When the Colts pounded the Saints a few years ago Manning was all up in the middle of the field to shake hands. Guess who was there to shake his hand……? Drew Brees Game 1 or Game 19 Drew would have shaken his hand.

Didn't look like any of our players were missing them at all
I get what Peyton was saying. This wasn’t his time to be on the field. Nobody wanted to see him. It wasn’t his moment. It probably would have been classy to still congratulate the Saints, but I doubt Drew will give it a millisecond’s thought when he is polishing his ring.
"I want to hand this trophy to the MVP of the Super Bowl -- and the MVP of the entire league.''
-- Saints coach Sean Payton, handing the Vince Lombardi Trophy to Drew Brees after Super Bowl 44.
If Drew is cool with it
…so am I. I’m more upset with Archie so visibly pulling for the Colts. I appreciate he was in a no-win situation…but the solution to that is to keep everything private, not to party in a private box at the stadium every time the Colts score. But then again, I was never an Archie fan even as a kid, so I guess I’m easily offended.
"We’re running Ambush."
It's his son
you have to respect that. If I was Peyton and my dad went for the other team I would be heartbroken. In my family family is everything, stronger ties than anything else.

Can NOT be mad at him for pulling for his son
It is his son that we’re not talking about

No prob with Archie's leaning
To pull for the Saints would have meant pulling AGAINST his son. Blood id thicker than water they say, and I as a parent have no problem with his stance. I mean I live in ACC country and one of my daughters pulls for Duke. I mean I can’t hate her for it, right?
Peyton left the field because he was dejected and visibly mad at himself.
That doesn’t mean he’s a jackass for not shaking hands with Drew.
I was under the impression the two were actually fairly good friends, so I’m sure they’ll get together later to hang out/discuss what happened.
Peyton is a class act, so I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt here.

Maybe it's our time that we start catching some of the breaks, and start being the team that wins them like this in the end." -- Drew Brees
The New Post Game Chaos
is totally scripted. The League is in control of everything, ushering things along etc. I still think there is time for a quick h/s but I’m sure Peyton/Drew are cool with it, I’m also cool w/ the Mannings being excited. Saints are Champs no worries.

honestly
I feel so good I am in the mood to be generous of spirit with everyone.
Of course I am still suffering in Heaven a bit after yesterday… I might have some voice back by tomorrow.
Super Bowl BOUND!
When I saw Peyton before the game
I figured he had his game face on.But, he had it on before, during and after the game. Now I’m not sure what the hell was going on.I mean the media had already crowned their asses.
I'll be your huckleberry- Doc Holliday to Ringo
This was the year of shock
When a team played the Saints and came away soundly beaten, they were in a state of shock. I gotta give ‘em a break, especially Peyton and Reggie. They got it handed to them in a very special way. If you look over the season, a lot of teams stumbled badly after playing the Saints. I really think it was a shock at how easily and soundly they were beaten. Ah, well, they’ll get used to it.
WHODAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dynasty - 2009 - ????
I don't think it was a snub.
I think it was party of the plan, by the NFL, for the losing team to leave the field.
I don’t remember past superbowl celebrations. So, I can’t be sure… but I don’t think it was Peyton being a poor sport.
Pigs have flown! Hell has frozen over! The Saints HAVE WON the Superbowl!!
