David Romer is about to do for football...
…what Bill James did for baseball. He’s the crank who came up with some wild unconventional theories that turned out to be wholly correct but reviled when originally published because they went against the “traditional wisdom”, only to become standard practice 20 years later. I’m old enough to remember seeing what sabermetrics did for baseball from the very beginning. Now we’re at the very beginning of seeing what it can do for football…and Sean Payton will be remembered as the coach who made it possible.

When the Saints played the "Ambush" I just looked at my friends and kept screaming,
“The crazy bastard did it!” over and over again.
WOW! What a plan!
Fat, dumb, and happy. Hell, two out of three ain't bad!

It would have never worked
if it weren’t for Morstead’s brilliant job on the kick itself. That was the best onside kick I’ve ever seen in my life. I’m surprised the cameraman caught up as quickly as he did.

Sean's apparrent huge balls
may be firmly grounded in statistical probability, but that doesn’t make them look any smaller. And I’m wondering when he’s gonna get to the big side of the outcome on reverses. I love our coach, especially after this year(my feelings were definitely trending differently before this season), but I. Hate. Reverses.
