Who are you happiest for?
...on the team, I mean. Of course, everyone is happy for Drew Brees, for having a second chance to prove himself, for living his dream of a championship, and basically just as payback for everything he's done for us.
But what about the others? Jeremy Shockey, for getting to play (and score) in a Super Bowl? Tracy Porter, for getting to return home to be a hero, twice?
For me, after a lot of pondering, it's Pierre Thomas. I think he symbolizes a lot about what's right on this team: an undrafted free agent, playing his tail off, pushing ahead of drafted players and giving the Saints the rushing attack they sorely needed after losing Deuce, and finally it pays off with a ring. We gave him a chance, and he gave us a championship: the perfect symbiotic relationship.
And besides: I've been a Thomas fan since the first time I saw him, pre-season 2007, so I'm invested.

My choice
is Anthony Hargrove. He was able to pull his life out the bottom of a dumpster and turn it around. He showed heart and drive all season. He may not have been the most prolific but, to me, he was my favorite
/\/\/\ This
My vote is for Anthony.
And Shockey, of course. Both deserved this moment.
"I definitely believe in destiny, and I believe in karma and what goes around comes around. We have been on the other side of this deal probably too many times. Maybe it's our time that we start catching some of the breaks, and start being the team that wins them like this in the end." -- Drew Brees
That was my reply too
Also Sharper for obvious reasons.
"I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle - victorious." - Vince Lombardi
All of them
Sharper is another one that comes to mind. I like his quote about enjoying the moment the other night after he’d been in the league for 13 years and didn’t think he had another 13 more to go. So, he was just enjoying being champions of the world. Bushrod is another one that got lots of press for being the weak link on the O-line. He had a few shaky moments in the first half, but was pretty good the rest of the way and for most of the season. Vilma is another one that got a second chance and boy has he come through for us. I could go on and on. This whole team is one of the greatest ever when it comes to character, IMHO. I couldn’t be happier for everyone last one of them.
I’m happy for Deuce, but I’m also sad for him. I love that he’ll get a ring, but I’m sure he’d rather have gotten that ring after being on the field this season and contributing. He’s a prideful guy and that’s one of the reasons I love him. He deserves a ring because of all he contributed to the franchise and region since 2001. I just wish his knees would have let him play one more year.
"As soon as Tony (Dungy) said we had no chance, I knew we had 'em right where we wanted 'em"--Coach Sean Payton right after Super Bowl XLIV with the Lombardi Trophy firmly in hand. WHO DAT!!

I have three... no, four...
Anthony Hargrove – I love stories of redemption and overcoming. And he truly seems greatful for what’s happened in the past year.
Pierre Thomas – For the same reasons you mentioned. (I thought we needed to draft a RB last year, but SP knew that we already had a winner on the roster.)
And…
Jonathan Vilma – I’ve liked him since he was drafted by the Jets. And I don’t think he gets enough credit for being the QB of the defense. If you watch him when he’s on the field he is directing the plays and predicting the offense’s moves like The Amazing Kreskin.
Darren Sharper – Another “aging vet” who was given a second chance and has provided a spark that we needed.
Pigs have flown! Hell has frozen over! The Saints HAVE WON the Superbowl!!
darn... I forgot...
Heath Evans – I know he only played a few games, but damn! You talk about passion, heart, leadership. Every time he touched the ball it was like watching a steam train on a mission. Then, after he got hurt, he coached up Reggie lowering his shoulder and becoming a more complete back… which we saw glimpses of in the Divisional round game vs. the Cards.
Pigs have flown! Hell has frozen over! The Saints HAVE WON the Superbowl!!
The Louisiana Boys
I like Piere Thomas, just like you, from the 1st time I saw him run the ball, like his style, his heart, and the fact that he was never No.1 on any team since Hi school, until he came to Nawlins. Alot of other discards from high profile programs and low draft picks.
BUT to me, it has to be the Lousiana Natives, the ones who grew up dreaming of playing for the Saints, and actually getting to live that dream. And now, da SB Championship is alot of icing on that cake.
Imagine Peyton as a kid in Nawlins, always dreaming of throwing the winning TD in da SB for da Saints, well Sunday, he finally did it!!!!!!
I know of Gay and Porter… who else am I forgetting on that list? I thought there were like four of them…
#19 Devery Henderson is from Opelousas
He & Gay played for LSU’s 2003 Nat’l Champioship team.
Addai did too, but he was on the Blue team.
Marlon Favorite is on the practice squad, another LSU and Nawlins guy. Another guy on the practice squad played at Grambling.
Porter went to Indiana.

all 53

My vote would go to Garrett Hartley!!!!!!! The young man was a BEAST in the SB........
after making the mistakes he did, he got his life right and was a major reason we were able to win………
Just my $.02
DIDN'T STOP 'TIL WE REACHED THE TOP!!!!!!!!
Another SAINTS fan in Panther country!
GEAUX SAINTS!!!!!!!!!!!
WHO DAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hartley is gonna be one of the better kickers in the league. Sean had all the faith in him from beyond 40 in the Super Bowl. This is what we need on our offense. If we stall, which we don’t do often, at least we know we have a reliable kicker waiting in the wings. He was dominant in the playoffs. After the game winner against the Vikes, nothing could stop him.
"Hopefully, you guys (in the media) can start putting Drew in that elite quarterback conversation." - Marques Colston after Drew Brees is named Super Bowl XLIV MVP.

Jermon Bushrod
Our “backup” left tackle kept Drew pretty clean all year (except Dallas, and even Payton mentioned they should have given him some help). Not too shabby going up against some beasts like Jared Allen, et al.
Johnathon Vilma
He was shipped out of NY because he really didint fit their scheme he came here and has been a leader and the soul of our defense

Shockey
After having to buy his own ticket to the superbowl when he played for the Giants was insane. Now the Shaggy Dog’s got his ring . I hope he still knows enough of the higher-ups in New york to call them and say “GET $CREWED”. WHO DAT!
I'll be your huckleberry- Doc Holliday to Ringo
Peyton Manning
He always dreamed of throwing a clinching touchdown to a Saints player to win the Super Bowl.
Seriously, my vote is for Sharper.
But I’m happiest for me. I had a heart attack at age 39 and was afraid I’d never live to see the day the Saints won the Super Bowl. I promise I’ve been a Saints fan longer than anyone on that team. Heck, I’ve been a loyal fan even before most of the coaches were born!
Finished Strong.
Robert Meachem..
Everyone thought he was a bust and even though he slowed down in the playoffs, he had an outstanding year, he contributed efficiently and went out to play every Sunday, I’m super happy for my boy and I had his back all the time, even when people made him out to be a horrible receiver or whatever, I went out and bought his jersey, good work bobby!
Anthony Hargrove is definitely a guy I’m happy for, but also a guy like Jahri Evans, who never got much recognition, but after the Cardinals & Vikings game, there was a bunch of stories on him on ESPN and SI, people realizing that this guy is legitimately the best guard in the NFL.. Marques Colston too, a 7th round pick, played amazing in the Super Bowl.
I know, I know
you said on the team…but without Dave Dixon, there might not BE a Saints team. If ANYONE (even BEFORE Jim Henderson) deserves a commemorative or “special” Super Bowl ring, it is him. The Father of the Saints and the Super Dome.
As far as players go….I’d have to say……Heath Evans. When he was in there, he played a thankless position and did stuff away from or without the ball that he didn’t get as much credit for, like he always does. You never hear about him bitching or griping…just going out and doin his job admirably.
WHO DAT!!! (sue me No Fun League)
