Any NFL player...who would you take?
Let's just say that....You're the owner of an NFL franchise (we're assuming you'd pick the Saints), and you have a genie in a bottle and you have already exhausted 2 wishes on something awesome. (you can name your other wishes if you wish) But this last wish is specific: You can have any ONE player in the NFL from any team...who would you take. There is no cap penalties or anything (think hypothetically here). Would you change your pick if you have to get rid of the player he'd be taking the place of (starting QB->starting QB, starting WR->starting WR)?
Just trying to strike up something to talk about, seems kinda dry in the sports new world right now (at least news as the Saints and their fans are concerned). FIRE AWAY!

Joe Thomas
A top-notch, young franchise left tackle. Since we don’t need a quarterback.
Another possibility, ironically, is Mario Williams.

Joe Thomas
He was out here in “SW Asia” just the other day, him, mario williams, jason witten, and vernon davis were all out here on a uso tour this week. mario and witten sat at my table at the chow hall they were all classy and pretty cool guys. they also came to my office and saw what we did for a living.
Demarcus Ware
"They're ready to be like 'Same Old Saints'" - Roman Harper, on each of the New Orleans Saints vanquished foes of 2009
That's who I'd go with.
Jeez I hate saying it with him being a Cowboy though!!
"Everyone has a plan 'till they get punched in the mouth." --Mike Tyson
Drew Brees
If I’m a team GM or owner building a team from scratch, he’d be my first choice. If you’re asking about a player I’d like to see join the Saints as they are now, I’d probably go with a really strong pass rusher like Demarcus Ware or Jared Allen.
"As soon as Tony (Dungy) said we had no chance, I knew we had 'em right where we wanted 'em"--Coach Sean Payton right after Super Bowl XLIV with the Lombardi Trophy firmly in hand. WHO DAT!!

I took this question as if we could add one player to our existing team.
"They're ready to be like 'Same Old Saints'" - Roman Harper, on each of the New Orleans Saints vanquished foes of 2009
drew brees, obviously
he can help bring other players here, even def coordinators. and if its somebody to add to our current team, troy polumalu (probably misspelled). the guy is just lights out awesome.
Yes, Sean Payton is the new Zorro. He leads wild adventures, quaffs the finest wines, embarrasses his enemies and leaves a extravagant calling card in his wake. Try as you might to stop him, but he's always one sip ahead.

If building from scratch
I might go Patrick Willis, and he would be the guy I’d add to the Saints if we didn’t have Vilma. As it stands right now I’d love to see Brian Cushing or Brian Orakpo in a Saints uniform.
"I want to hand this trophy to the MVP of the Super Bowl -- and the MVP of the entire league.''
-- Saints coach Sean Payton, handing the Vince Lombardi Trophy to Drew Brees after Super Bowl 44.
I honestly believe Orakpo would have been a Saint, had he fallen one more slot in the draft.
"I was not on the boat in question." -Darren Sharper
that would have made me happy
"But tonight the Superbowl belongs to the City of New Orleans" - Roger Goodell 2/7/2010
For my other 2 wishes
I’d probably spend both of them on this
"I want to hand this trophy to the MVP of the Super Bowl -- and the MVP of the entire league.''
-- Saints coach Sean Payton, handing the Vince Lombardi Trophy to Drew Brees after Super Bowl 44.
I'd spend them both on that too....

I would say
Jared Allen or Kevin Williams. I hate having to admit that the Vikings have good players, but they have good players. There, I said it. Two good players to add to our defensive line would really help. If I could go back in time though, it would be Reggie White. He was the shiznit
Peyton, I can eat Oreos faster than you!!!!
Jared Allen, definitely

A D-Lineman for sure
Peppers, Allen, or Ware at DE would be a great addition. Right now I’d be happy if we signed Grant back. We don’t have anyone better on the roster yet.
be careful what you wish for with all that grant chatter

Solid MLBs are a little too common to be blowing wishes on, imo.

did you happen
to see the play where willis ran down an arizona reciever down the sideline…no other mlb in the league could have made that play.
there is some truth to what you say, but the guy is really special

As one who is not into statistics, free agency, draft options, or anything other than the Saints running onto the field and kicking butt ~
I have been relegated to the position of a quiet observer of the CSC.
Oh yes, I miss the days of aimless banter and all of us guys trying to serupticiously figure out which of our female contributers are single or, as a minimum, playing around!
(Long slow sigh.)

yea i get lost in all that stuff also
so i just lurk and throw out random drive-by observations and annoyances. oh and sometimes try to stir the pot when folks around here get weird. (a_case_) being the latest.
BTW, I'm still laughing over "nitwit!"
I’m just glad you and I know our place in this here blog and are conserving our ammo for the quick kills.

Yep, except
when I’ve had my rum. Then I’m a spray and pray type of guy. Wake up going “I called coldpizza a what?”.
LMAO! I've also had a few of those "Did I post that BS???" mornings after.
I suspect there’s more than just the two of us in this club. :-)

You start with oline and build from there. You cannot win without a quality oline.
Ajun Cajun exiled to Charlotte. I miss Mardi Gras and the Jazz Fest so much I could cry.
Hmmm...
(I’m assuming we’d stick with our current 4-3 scheme.)
Dwight Freeney, if his ankle is truly 100%.
DeMarcus Ware, would be nice too… but not sure how he’d play in a 4-3.
Patrick Wilis is a BEAST, but again, not sure how he’d play in a 4-3.
Terrell Suggs is also a beast, but again, not sure how he’d play in a 4-3.
I’d also be interested in Albert Haynesworth, one of the Williams brothers (I know they’re not really brothers.), or Shaun Ellis (if he’s healthy).
Too many to chose from…
If I HAD to pick only one…
Dwight Freeny.
Pigs have flown! Hell has frozen over! The Saints HAVE WON the Superbowl!!
Its either LaMarr Woodley or Troy Polomalu
LaMarr is a young pass rusher that you can build a linebacking corps around and Troy is a guy you build a defense around. If I had to pick between those two I would have to go with LaMarr Woodley, for the simple fact that he can rush the passer and if need be kick in a door

Players who should be in the Hall of Fame: Pat TIllman, Dwight White, Donnie Shell, L.C. Greenwood, Ray Guy, Steve Tasker, Greg Llyod, Andy Russel, Cris Carter, Kevin Greene and Jerry Kramer

I'd go with Polumalu
just for the fact that when he was gone the D wasn’t nearly as good, he’s definitely a game changer if there was one
Polomalu will be 29 years old next month.
He sustained a sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee, and missed four games. He returned to play in the sixth week of the 2009 season in a matchup against the Cleveland Browns. He later reinjured himself against the Bengals.
When he’s healthy he’s deadly but, do you think he has reached to “prone to injury” time in his career?

I sure hope you’re wrong, as Drew Brees is reportedly winning the Madden ’11 cover vote (over Reggie Wayne and Jared Allen) by a landslide.
"I was not on the boat in question." -Darren Sharper
yeah i saw that
it’s like i would love for him to be on the cover but i dont want anything to happen…where’s VoodooGrisGris? we need him to conjure us up a counter-voodoo spell on the madden curse!
Fitzgerald didn’t miss any games this past season, did he? I remember Breaston and Doucet starting a few games here and there, but I think it was all three receiver sets while Boldin was out with his concussion.
"I was not on the boat in question." -Darren Sharper
that's now a lesson in madden curse history
if you put 2 players on the cover only one will get hurt…but how does the curse choose??
I was thinking
More of a buffalo nickle or wheat straw penny. You must be a big spender.

Everyone at DN voted for him.
It's a lot easier to love the Vikings when they win...
Which is why I have been secretly wanting a MUCH better backup QB... someone with WINNING experience.

I would have to agree with you man

I’m surprised no one has said Albert Haynesworth. He’d definitely be in my Top 5 or so.
"I was not on the boat in question." -Darren Sharper
As much as I dislike the Cowgirls,
I was very turned off to Haynesworth when he stepped on the head (literally) of a Cowgirls’ offensive lineman. That’s just not neccessary.
Plus, he didn’t seem to make the big splash in Washington that everyone in the media (and Dan Snyder) thought he would.
He’s not horrible, but overpaid fat dudes who can get you 8 sacks are available elsewhere without the dirty play. Hargrove got 5.5 sacks and he was in a rotation.
Pigs have flown! Hell has frozen over! The Saints HAVE WON the Superbowl!!
Well I'm going with the Vikes on this one
And our greatest need is QB so I’d probably go with Rodgers. Young and got a gun. Plus you got to like stealing QB’s from Green Bay.
It's a lot easier to love the Vikings when they win...
In my opinion
I would honestly be interested in seeing what Sage could do with weapons the Vikings have. I always thought he had the tools to be a good QB. He just needed more time to make decisions and his line didn’t seem to be giving him that.
For your information Viking's and Colt's fans, no matter how much you say it, you were not the better team in 2009.
Well I would rather see him behind center than TJ.
A lot of receiver have problems catching with their shoe laces… and when the play book has to be dumbed down to the point where it’s actually showing Dick and Jane going to catch a ball you know your screwed…
It's a lot easier to love the Vikings when they win...
By the way Grizz
Stole your idea and put it on DN. Thanks!!
It's a lot easier to love the Vikings when they win...
Jared Allen
because he is a beast and I think that him and Shockey on the same team would be great entertainment. Elvis Dumervil from Denver could possibly be special also though.
Got to agree with the Haynesworth choice.
He was a beast against us a couple of years back, seemed like he made plays on
every snap. Also love/hate #89 at carolina always a handfull not sure how he will be
after his injury tho.
Lets GEAUX SAINTS.......... ALL THE WAY!!!!
