Meet and greet with Garret Hartley
I had the pleasure today to talk with Garret Hartley today. Since I live around the Shreveport area I do not get too many opportunities like this. Come to think about it, this is a first. I did not realize how cool of a guy he was. When I shook his hand I felt like he was going to break it. I said Damn man you have on hell of a hand shake for a kicker. He responded "i have had a lot of practice lately". We just laughed. I Then asked him, what was more memorable the Vikings game or the Superbowl. As if he scripted a page from Payton's Press book, he said, " all of the games are memorable to me".
I then ask him about his favorite chairty. He went on to say that his charity is Kick 101.
Apparently this organization helps low income highschool kickers an opportunity to go to kicking clinics, along with university kickers transition into the NFL. I thought that was pretty cool.
Got him to sign a football and off to lunch I went.
I would have posted this and linked my phone to CSC, but i was away from my CPU. I was gonna have you guys to send me questions, but oh well.
The bright side is that Pierre Thomas will be in town soon. When he shows up i wil be a little more prepared.

I too met Hartley
My wife I met him last night at a charity appearance. He was a nice guy. It’s great too see players come up north to greet fans, especially in the shreveport area. I’ve heard rumors that a saints parade will happen some time in the future here and Alexandria. Can’t wait! When will Pierre be coming to town?
WHO DAT!
I had a fairly lengthy discussion with Hartley’s parents just after we signed him. They were in Kansas City for the Saints-Chiefs game, both wearing his #5 jersey. I thought it odd, being that he was such a recent addition and a kicker on top of that. Let’s face it, no one wears kicker jerseys. This was well before the Adderall incident, so none of that came up. Mostly just about how they had thought he was going to be Jason Elam’s successor in Denver, prior to his being cut. He supposedly outperformed Matt Prater throughout pre-season in terms of accuracy, they just decided to go with the guy with the stronger leg. Nice folks, albeit overly biased towards the Big 12.

a buddy told me
I think a sponsor is all they needed and a local sporting goods store is close to signing on. I hope it all happens.
