FA QB List

Breesus Christ Superstar requested someone put a list of Free Agent QB's left. I am bored so I looked it up...as of 10:05 PM (AST) (2:05 PM CST) here it is [RFA's with *]

Charlie Batch

Tarvaris Jackson*

JP Losman*

Kellen Clemens*

Jason Campbell*

Troy Smith*

John Beck*

Mark Brunell

Kyle Orton*

Chris Simms

Brian St Pierre

Daunte Culpepper

Josh McCown

Patrick Ramsey

Kyle Boller

Gibran Hamdan*

Todd Collins

Brodie Croyle*

Of this list I'd like Brian St. Pierre of the UFA's, and Kyle Orton of the RFA's (which is highly...highly unlikely...) of the likely options of RFA's John Beck or Kellen Clemens. Who's you're pick of this crop?

I am 38

Since i haven’t ever played pro football i should have lots of “tread on the tire” or “bristles on the brush” or “patties in the hamburger”.

I dominated as a QB and TE in my Football League. I am willing to relocate from Winnipeg for minimal money.

Thanks Grizz

This is a sad sack of suck.
I would only go for an unrestricted agent. No compensation picks for these window lickers.
I’ll have to think this one over.

It is a whole heap of crud.

But not to be a pain, but is this all inclusive? What about …preemptive barf…Jeff “Jerk Face” Garcia?

You didn’t even have him on the poll!! Shame! I am suprised at how many votes Culpepper got. You guys must seriously be desperate.

Culpepper probably has more wins as a starter, than all those other guys have TD passes combined.

Former Bowling Green QB Omar Jacobs is currently playing in the AIFA. He still holds the NCAA record for best career TD-to-INT ratio, has exceptional size and athleticism. In terms of efficiency, he seems like a pretty good candidate for the Payton School of Misfit QBs.

so I think he should be just fine for you all, since you all play a video game style of offense(no offense)

Love me some Troy Smith

Undersized, but athletic. Likely to give us a different option than that which we’ve got. With that said, if they’re asking for more than a bag of chips for him then I’ll pass.

I’d love to see us pick up someone like Dan LeFevour or Zac Robinson late.

Question...

Since we’re on the subject of…well ok it’s not even on this subject but I didn’t have anywhere else to put it and didnt feel like writing a post for this…But does it seem to anyone else that the Cardinals are becoming the Browns and the Browns the cardinals?? Now the cards have 2 crappy (young QB’s) and the browns have a veteran that’s at least been to the big game…and just the way the browns are seeming to turn everything around…idk i see the cards falling big this year and the browns gaining big

by GRlZZ on Mar 19, 2010 9:10 AM CDT reply actions

I honestly don’t view either Leinart or Anderson as crappy. I think either is good enough to lead a balanced attack and the Cards appear to be moving more and more in that direction, at least on offense. As far as the Browns getting better, it’s hard to say. I like the backfield tandem they have now, but I have zero confidence in Delhomme as a starter. Seneca Wallace is arguably just as big of an enigma and their receiving corps is rawer than the Fujita Roll at Rock-n-Sake. You have to think they’re going to draft another “QB of the future”, so obviously there are brighter days ahead. I’m just not so sure there are going to be many of them in 2010. And I say this as a closet Browns fan, going all the way back to the Brian Sipe / Kardiac Kids era. They appear to be treading water right now.

Sounds like Holmgren was trying to reciprocate or was at least offering him a warm hand. Towards advancing Tim’s career, I mean. Think Tim might be the Brown’s “QB of the future”?

Couch was a bad NFL quarterback

Newyorker:

Shonka began to talk about Tim Couch, the quarterback taken first in that legendary draft of 1999. Couch set every record imaginable in his years at the University of Kentucky. "They used to put five garbage cans on the field," Shonka recalled, shaking his head, "and Couch would stand there and throw and just drop the ball into every one." But Couch was a flop in the pros. It wasn’t that professional quarterbacks didn’t need to be accurate. It was that the kind of accuracy required to do the job well could be measured only in a real N.F.L. game.

Now, I know some people
Sold their souls to the devil
And they don't sound nothing like Robert Johnson

by stujo4 on Mar 21, 2010 12:20 PM CDT up reply actions

I agree, to some extent. Every expansion team that has taken a QB first overall has suffered. Granted, that’s a small sample, but it’s enough for me to say that’s not the way I’d go about it. To Houston’s credit, they went after proven veteran LT Tony Boselli prior to selecting Carr, it just didn’t work out. Unlike Couch, Carr put up superb passing percentage numbers, despite his lack of protection upfront. It’s not a guaranteed solution, as even first round QBs on established teams have bombed. Kerry Collins had a little success early and is at least still in the league. Mark Brunell had clipboard holding experience in GB and Boselli to protect his blind side. No more success than Collins with his expansion team, but he didn’t succumb to alcoholism, either.
