Mocking the Draft after 4 rds- Saints rep

Pick 32 New Orleans Saints select

Carlos Dunlap    DE    Florida

We felt we needed to add depth on the D-line especially after the release of Charles Grant, Carlos Dunlap is a player we feel could have been a top 10 pick under different circumstances and feel he has tremendous upside we view him in the Mold of a Mario Williams / Julius Peppers type player. We are full aware of the character concerns that caused him to drop and feel the risk reward is great enough to make this selection.

Pick64

Tyson Alualu    DT    California

Again we capitalize on drafting a player we feel will help upgrade our D-Line, paired with Sedrick Ellis we feel will improve our interior run defense. Hard worker and no nonsense type player we feel brings an attitude to this defense. We had him as a borderline 1rst rd pick and in fact was almost the pick at 32 so we`re thrilled to get him at 64 overall.

Pick 95
Jason Worilds    OLB/DE    Virginia Tech

Not sure where we`re gonna line him up but one things for sure he`ll be bring the heat with him on a collision course with the QB, being the defending SuperBowl Champions provides the luxury of drafting in rd 3 a player for 3rd and long.

pick 127

Eric Olsen    C    Notre Dame

after 3 picks for the Defense we decided to give the Offense a little attention, nothing fancy with this pick just a tough SOB who is n`t afraid to get dirty to shore up the interior of the O-line.

Looks pretty solid. If you can get just land a tank-sized RB (e.g., Scott or Blount), in the 6th and the best DB available in the 7th, you will have done us proud.

Was Shipley taken yet? Not that I expect him to be there in the 6th.

WR’s not really a need … I just think Shipley’s going to wind up being special in the pros.

Not sure I like..

Carlos Dunlap. I hear people saying that GW and Co. wouldn’t let him take plays off, but there were certain times that Charles Grant disappeared. That being said, if hes the best DE at the time, I guess I would live.

I trust the FO and they haven’t given me any reason recently to stop.

With the 32nd pick of the 2010 NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints take... The suspense is killing me!

With the Saints? We’re pretty set at SS. Let me rephrase that … I wouldn’t want to spend a 2nd rounder on the position. If he fell down the board a couple of rounds for no apparent reason … or Harper got traded … or Vaughn suffered another season-ending muscle spasm … then yeah, I’d have no problem with that.

i hate when

people use the accent mark ` instead of the apostrophe ’.

I wouldn't mind getting half the "love" that the Saints are willing to give Sharper...

how in the heck do you even know when someone`s guilty of that?

my eyes can’t tell the difference, and I just found out my keyboard has an accent`s mark…

2010 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

person
Sean Weatherspoon, OLB, Missouri
Lost in the explosive offense of Missouri is how well the defense has been playing. It all starts with linebacker Sean Weatherspoon. Weatherspoon was pretty much a special teams player as a freshman in 2006. In 2007 he stepped into a starting role and then stepped into a leadership role almost immediately. On the year, Weatherspoon led the team with 130 tackles and always seemed to be around the ball. For a first-year starter and an underclassman, that was some amazing production. His numbers got better in 2008 when he tallied an incredible 155 tackles and three interceptions.
Weatherspoon could have been a second or third round selection last season, but opted to return for his senior season to once again lead the Mizzou defense. Six games into the 2009 campaign he has already reached the 50 tackle plateau. Not only is Weatherspoon productive, but he is productive in about every way imaginable. He can get into the backfield or drop back in coverage and does both amazingly well. He will not be the biggest hitting or the fastest linebacker around, but few will be able to do everything as well as Weatherspoon.

Weatherspoon will have to show that he can translate his productivity into the NFL. At 6-2 and 245 pounds, he has decent size, but there are quite a few linebackers who are bigger and can match his speed and quickness.

1/19 Update: Weatherspoon finished off his senior season strongly. On the year he ended up with a team high 111 tackles and added 14.5 tackles-for-loss, 4.5 sacks and one interception. As a result, Weatherspoon is moving up draft boards and right now is pretty solidly cemented as a first rounder. However, he has nowhere to go but down at this point and he needs to continue his strong showings during Senior Week and at the NFL Combine to stay in the first round.

I’m kind of hoping we get him, too. Mainly just to watch idiots rush out and buy the #12 Saints Weatherspoon jerseys that will inevitably appear on eBay within the week.

Lot of Vikes fans would like to see him wearing purple as well

but I think we’ll probably go for something a bit different. It looks like the coaching staff feel EJ is coming back and Brinkly is good enough. Would still like to see him on the Vikes though the man can play some ball.

It's a lot easier to love the Vikings when they win...
