With all the speculation about Sharper, will he stay or will he go. I got to thinking about the worst case scenario, we lose Sharper. Do we try to find a safety in the draft, I don't think any quality safeties will be available. So, What do we do?
Malcolm Jenkins was projected as a CB or safety during the draft last year. Why not use him as a safety? He is faster than Sharper although not as fast as Porter or Greer. He made some nice hits last year, and overall was good on coverage. Although if he bit on the first move the receiver made he had a tendency to get burned. He doesn't have the speed to be a one on one cover guy, he can't correct any mistakes he makes, which Porter or Greer can.
It will be easier to find another CB in this years draft and develop him. Than to find a safety that can start this year.
Is he smart enough to play safety? Any thoughts on this?
