Why aren't we talking about Aaron Kampman?
Pass rushing end to replace Charles Grant. Everyone's talking draft route, why not bring a good 4-3 DE out of his current 3-4 hell?

He could be a nice addition.
I and other have mentioned him earlier.
Pigs have flown! Hell has frozen over! The Saints HAVE WON the Superbowl!!
We've mentioned him
…but I don’t think it has risen to the level of a discussion, for the same reason we haven’t discussed any free agents in any depth: we’re hamstrung in this market. Until one of our guys signs away, we can’t consider bringing in a UFA. So why bother talking about it?

mailbag:
The Saints are limited by the Final 4 rule of the uncapped year so they’d need to lose a free agent before they could sign one from another team. And even then, it’d have to be a player who matches the first-year salary compensation. Since Darren Sharper is the only free agent expected to command much attention on the market I wouldn’t expect much action from the Saints in free agency. They are just too limited.
Q: If the Saints cut a player like Charles Grant- will that allow them to sign an unrestricted free agent -
A: No. The only players that count for the Saints are free agents with expiring contracts on the Saints roster.
So, anyone willing to let Sharper go for Kampman? He’d want at least $5M/yr, for you cost conscious fans.

Thanks!
Was wondering, but that new set of FA rules done tripped me up. Thanks for the info, guys!
That’s why I started littering that somewhat annoying link in my signature all over the place. I don’t really like it there but I’m hoping a few people will read it anyway…
For those who can't remember the uncapped FA rules, this link's for you.
