Around SBN: MLB Trade Deadline: Phils, Astros complete Roy Oswalt deal

"Obviously this is a bittersweet time for our family. We're extremely excited about this new opportunity, but it's definitely hard to say goodbye to all the great friends we've made in New Orleans.
"I am so proud of all the things we accomplished here -- both on and off the field -- and I'm proud of the role I played in helping this incredible city experience it's first Super Bowl. In planning for their future, the Saints just didn't value that partnership the same way. And that's fine -- this can be an interesting business, but I wish the Saints nothing but the best.
"We leave New Orleans with no hard feelings whatsoever, and have so many memories that we will carry with us for the rest of our lives. New Orleans will always hold a special place in our hearts...it's given us so much. Now it's time to turn the page and start a new journey.
"We're so thankful to Sean & Mickey for bringing us in to be a part of this great organization, and I'm eternally grateful to all the people of this city for embracing us from day one. We will never forget it. My wife just asked me to say that we will always come back to New Orleans. We promise."

What did he expect?

I’m sorry, but I can’t help but wonder if Fujita was expecting the franchise tag. Let’s hope his grip on reality is not so tenuous as that.

But whatever, good luck in Cleveland, Fuj. You might need it.

yeah

It’s one of those things where…he wasn’t 100% sure that NO would sign him again, and wanted to jump at the first oppurtunity he could.

What did the saints offer him or did they offer him anything?

by shn_hldn on Mar 8, 2010 2:03 AM CST reply actions

Whatever they offered him

It didn’t match Cleveland’s offer.

What a class act

Scott will be truly missed as a leader and role model on and off the field. The Saints organization have a tall test ahead of them in trying to fill his shoes.

Sorry to see you go, Scott.

Let’s hope we don’t see more leave like him. This team has a bright future if the core can be kept intact.

Take care Scotty.

It was nice having you. Get your big paycheck and retire back to New Orleans where you’ll always be accepted.

I guess

I was wrong. Looks like we will need a new linebacker in this year’s draft after all. Hmmmmm the choices to ponder are limitless, errr, maybe I should have said limited instead. At any rate, Fujita’s presence on the field will definitely be missed. He has done a lot for this team, and he has done more than his fair share for the city of New orleans and the entire Gulf Coast Region.
