Giants to look at Sorgi, Garcia, Brunell
With David Carr off to San Francisco, it is time for Jeff Sorgi to decide whether it is better to backup Eli or Peyton Manning. Sorgi, currently with the Colts, is on a short list of candidates to replace Carr, according to a team source. The Giants are also expected to pursue veteran quarterbacks Jeff Garcia and Mark Brunell, who was the Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback from 1995-2002 under then-coach Tom Coughlin.

So, could we be looking for a late-round QB in the draft? Or would we be looking to upgrade at backup anyway?

With the 32nd pick of the 2010 NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints take... The suspense is killing me!

bring in Jeff Garcia, if Brunell leaves
(I don’t really think it’s gonna happen, but I’d trust him over a third+ round rookie.)

Tebow!
LMAO!
Seriously though, it must suck badly to be Peyton’s backup for so long – people still get his name wrong. It’s JIM Sorgi, not Jeff. lmao who cares the guy got injured carrying a clipboard anyway. Good riddance.

Let's throw some frags :)
Shaun Hill will probably be available, and he'll be cheap

Beat writer John Crumpacker says that the David Carr signing “probably” means the end of Shaun Hill’s career with the Niners.
The Niners clearly consider Carr an upgrade over Hill and with prospect Nate Davis as the No. 3, Hill is likely gone. Hill should draw interest as a decent game manager, but his arm strength is a major problem.
Mangini. Mangini. Mangini. MANGINI.
Please don't take him just because you can
I would rather have Shaun Hill over Garcia. No doubt about that.
For your information Viking's and Colt's fans, no matter how much you say it, you were not the better team in 2009.
I like him too..
he seems tough and leathery to me

Think about this
You are seriously considering Shaun Hill, Jeff Garcia, Jake Delhomme, and Mark Brunell as backups to Brees? I disagree with the entire lot. Look, as much as I respect Garcia, and the toughness that he brings to the game, I can’t see him in Black and Gold. Brunell needs to go. He is not a valuable back-up, he is an annoyance to the sport. As much as I am a fan of Jake Delhomme, I don’t want him back in a Saints uniform. Hill is not even worth bringing in for a workout. Bring in the youngster, Daniels, as the back up. Give him some preseason experience, keep him on the bench unless we go into severe garbage time, and see what he’s got. With the proper training and conditioning, as well as the valuable knowledge passed to him by Brees, in another year or two, we could shop him around and get some value out of him. At that point, we could go to the draft for another young upstart to take the reigns after a couple of years of Brees mentoring and be satisfied with the results.

Are you confident in Chase to step in AND WIN if something happens to Drew? (God forbid!)
Even though he might not see playing time until week 16/17 (because we’re that far ahead in the standings again), I like to have a backup with starting experience… preferably winning experience AND winning capabilities.
I don’t know anything about Chase (none of us do), which is why there is so much speculation/desire to get another backup QB. Maybe SP sees greatness in the kid, and if something should happen to Drew he’ll be our Matt Cassel and step in for one good year.
