SAINTS AGREE IN PRINCIPLE TO TRADE REGGIE BUSH TO SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (April Fools)

I don't know if Dave or anybody else posted this article already

Star-divide

Just wanna see what you guys think about this.  How much of a debate do you think I can stir up here Dave.

Here's an excerpt:

It has been speculated that the team was looking for a way to separate themselves from Bush and when his former college coach Pete Carroll took over control in Seattle rumors began to fly that a trade was in the works.

After all the Seahawks desperately need help at running back and Bush is certainly an upgrade to the talent they currently have, meanwhile the Saints could use another pick in the first round to help re-build their defense and acquiring a good DE like Lawrence Jackson helps to fill the void left by Charles Grant.

Bush for the Seahawks 14th pick in this years draft and DE Lawrence Jackson.

That seems very reasonable, Mickey. FAX IT!

Nah, can’t do it. Love Reggie too much.

Are you happy now!
Happy that he re-signed for chump change? Happy that he signed with another team for 3yrs/$18M?? Happy that he can’t sign with anyone because he can’t even trot after surgery?? I don’t know.

I've been advocating this kind of deal for months...

…here’s why:

1) Reggie is a dynamic player, but has never been a feature back in our system, and he never will be. I’ve always considered him an “X” back who fills multiple roles as a back, receiver, decoy, and punt returning specialist. He’s injury-prone and is paid a ton of money to do what he does. He’s under contract for another year, I beleive, and no-one knows if we’ll keep him beyond the next season.

2) Based on the above description, we can get pretty much the same player by signing Westbrook off the free agency market for a heck of a lot less $$$ (assuming, of course, he stays healthy). If he doesn’t stay healthy, we still have enough depth at RB that I think this a plausible idea. Like I said earlier, Reggie’s been injury prone too, so this is not that big of a risk. And the special teams role Reggie plays can be capably filled in by Courtney Roby – he did it all last year.

3) The pick (or picks) we can get from trading Reggie can go a LONG way toward helping us fill our defensive needs via the draft. Let’s face it, our D-Line, LB, and Safety positions are all in a serious state of flux right now. I am honestly getting nervous that unless something is done with the D soon, we’ll go from Super Bowl Champs right back to the 8-8 team that could score at will but whose defense did them in almost every game in 2008.

I for one, would LOVE for this trade to go down during the draft. And this is coming from someone who’s supported Reggie all along. Ever since it was pretty clear that he would not develop into the every down back savior that people thought he would be out of college, I’ve been behind the way Sean’s used him 100%.

So…..am I the ONLY one thinking this way?!?!?!

ridiculous
Reggie is a dynamic player

Highest paid decoy in the league: 2010: $8 million, 2011: $11.8 million, 2012: Free Agent. rotoworld.com

we can get pretty much the same player by signing Westbrook

No, you can’t. Westbrook has been a free agent since March 5. Why not dump Reggie and sign him? Why hasn’t ANYONE signed him??? Because Westbrook is one more concussion away from retirement and his knee is so bad that he’ll have to play home games on grass. rotoworld.com March 2

The pick (or picks) we can get from trading Reggie

Need a trading partner first. And who of the 31 teams do you think would be interested in trading for Reggie and his contract? Name them.

C’mon, man. Stop advocating this deal. It’s 2010.

Never thought I'd agree on Reggie being gone but..

I gotta say this makes sense. Now IF IF IF we can find someone that can fill those shoes or be a more productive player, I say go for it. I’m for breaking up the norm if winning is the outcome.
