They gotta be looking to trade for a OLB.
Would they trade Brown for a 3rd round pick? Nah! Maybe they’re gonna trade him for a LB and some later picks.

Charles Brown-T- Player Apr. 18 – 9:38 am et
USC LT Charles Brown is reportedly “a hot commodity right now,” and could be drafted in the top 15.
Charles Brown-T – Player Apr. 2 – 2:30 pm et
USC LT Charles Brown managed just 20 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press at the Trojans’ Pro Day.
NFL.com’s Gil Brandt also had Brown at 5.21 in the forty, 32" in the vertical, and 8’5" in the long jump. Brown’s 35-inch arms make bench pressing harder, but his total would’ve ranked among the worst at the Combine. It’s more proof that he may need a half or full season to develop into a starter.
Charles Brown-T – Player Feb. 25 – 11:43 am et
USC LT Charles Brown measured 6’5/303 with 35 1/4-inch arms at Thursday’s Combine weigh-in.
Brown is an inch shorter than his college listing, but promisingly a full 18 pounds heavier. The converted tight end also has perfect arm length to stay at left tackle in the pros. Brown won’t get out of round one this April.
shock me, make me feel better
Jeff Duncan
Brown was a high school tight end. Arrived at USC at 250 pounds. Gained attention by protecting Mark Sanchez’ blind side.

Does not have the necessary bulk and will need to gain weight. Can lunge at defenders and does not have a strong initial surge. Does not play with a mean streak and is inconsistent finishing off blocks.

"I was not on the boat in question." -Darren Sharper

Emily Schaible:
Charles Brown, USC, OT
Scouts Inc. Pros: Does a nice job of helping guard with inside hand while keeping head on a swivel and looking for blitzes. Naturally bends at the knees. Possesses agility and footwork necessary to hold up on an island at the NFL level. Quick first step and gets into sound position.
Scouts Inc. Cons: Powerful and compact punch but needs to sit back on heels at times. Can lunge and is susceptible to double moves. Quickly diagnoses line stunts but he has a tendency to stay with defensive end for a split second too long and not always in position to pick up defensive tackles looping around as a result.
I feel surprisingly good about this pick. This guy was a first round talent, projected to possibly be a top 15 pick, who fell into our laps. Bushrod was capable, but required a lot of help throughout the year. Jammal can be traded for a 3rd round pick without a doubt, and we can still pick up quality players in the later rounds (Jahri Evans, Carl Nicks, Marques Colston, etc). A great, top quality LT is never a bad thing. Also, we have a lot of young OLBs in house (Casillas, Arnoux, Mitchell), who Williams may be quite high on.
true dat homie!!!

It could also be viewed as a bargaining chip to get Jammal Brown to sign for RT money. Think about it. If no one is willing to pay him LT money, he might bite the bullet.

rotoworld.com:
LeGarrette Blount-RB- Player Mar. 18 – 7:42 pm et
Oregon RB LeGarrette Blount posted forty times of 4.53 and 4.55 at the Ducks’ pro day workout Thursday.
Blount more than redeemed himself after a miscommunication led many scouts to believe he skipped out on Oregon’s first pro day last week. At 238 pounds, his forty times are impressive — down a full two-tenths from his marks at Indy. He could tempt teams into selecting him in the mid rounds as a power back.

Anthony Dixon-RB- Player Mar. 25 – 6:17 pm et
Mississippi State’s Anthony Dixon improved his forty times to 4.61 and 4.62 at the Bulldogs’ Pro Day workout Thursday.
The SEC’s leading rusher, who was in the high-4.6s at the Combine, also looked “very fluid” in position drills. As a power runner with smooth receiving skills, he’s likely to stick at tailback, and he could be drafted as high as the second round.

Is a pure projection prospect, who will have no position-specific game experience if asked to switch from quarterback. That’s a lot of project in the 3rd round.

Ricky Sapp-DL – Player Mar. 15 – 7:01 pm et
NFL Network’s Mike Mayock said on Monday’s Path to the Draft program that Clemson DE Ricky Sapp will probably last until round three.
If so, it’d likely be due to concerns about Sapp’s knee, in which he tore the ACL at the end of his junior season. When healthy, Sapp is widely considered a first-round talent and ideal fit for 3-4 teams as a rush linebacker. Sapp admitted at the Combine that he played his whole senior year at 60 percent.

Jimmy Graham-TE- Player Mar. 26 – 12:40 pm et
Miami (FL) TE Jimmy Graham reportedly looked “tremendous” in pass catching drills at the Hurricanes’ Friday Pro Day.
Graham stood on his outstanding times from the Combine, but apparently put on a show in the receiving portion of Friday’s workout. Offering legitimate Tony Gonzalez appeal, Graham could sneak into the second round of April’s draft.

Graham is a very raw tight end that left the basketball team to turn out for football in time for the 2009 season. He is extremely athletic and has a huge upside but still needs a ton of technique work from running routes to blocking. He is not restricted in his routes and shows a good burst coming out of his breaks to separate from defenders but at the same time struggles to get off the line vs. good press linebackers. He shows strength when going for the ball in a crowd as well as flashes of strength as a blocker but can be sloppy in his footwork when he needs to adjust on the move when blocking in space. He has received comparisons to Tony Gonzalez who played football and basketball at Cal but he is not as developed as Gonzalez was at the same stage. He still needs to shed the basketball work ethic he came with.
Here's to you, Patrick Robinson, Jesus1000 loves you more than you will know...
Pros: Graham has an outstanding combination of size and speed for the tight end position. A former basketball player, he shows impressive natural athleticism on the gridiron. Despite limited experience, he has capable hands to make a play in traffic. High-character guy. Possesses tremendous potential.
Cons: Graham lacks game experience with only one year of football under his belt. At this time, work ethic as a pure football player needs to improve. His toughness is in question as he still carries the basketball player label. Blocking tenacity and overall technique need polish and refinement.

I actually REALLY like this pick
I’ve been waiting for them to take a TE, and Jimmy Graham is a BEAST. Solid receiving TE and outstanding run after the catch. Take no prisoners attitude
Peyton, I can eat Oreos faster than you!!!!
I’m up 2-1 on that 3-3 offense/defense split prediction, btw.
"I was not on the boat in question." -Darren Sharper
Good prediction
Everyone says we need to spend our picks on defense, but the draft is about building the team for both now AND the future. Splitting picks is good, especially considering we didn’t draft a single offensive player last year.

I still don't get it
I am trying to have faith in the front office, but it is really hard when they refuse to draft based on team needs, even though we have a big one at OLB. It would be one thing if they were taking the best player on the boards, but they aren’t even doing that. This is mighty frustrating.
"I want to hand this trophy to the MVP of the Super Bowl -- and the MVP of the entire league.''
-- Saints coach Sean Payton, handing the Vince Lombardi Trophy to Drew Brees after Super Bowl 44.
presumably they're taking the best player on their boards...
otherwise, it would make no sense. I’m guessing that these guys were really high on the Saints’ board, making it impossible to pass on them
"But tonight the Superbowl belongs to the City of New Orleans" - Roger Goodell 2/7/2010
They’re going to have to wait until 6 for a RB. Can’t possibly take another offensive player in the 4th.
"I was not on the boat in question." -Darren Sharper
So it's easy to say
defense is next?
"I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle - victorious." - Vince Lombardi
Probably. Unless they’re just waiting to see who doesn’t address an OT need and try to trade Jammal Brown to them for whatever they don’t.
"I was not on the boat in question." -Darren Sharper
Is there a way to search
based on what team still needs what position?

“Graham caught only 17 passes in college”
Here's to you, Patrick Robinson, Jesus1000 loves you more than you will know...
5 of which went for touchdowns.
I think defense was a more pressing need, but we were a Shockey injury (not an uncommon event) away from having Dinkins starting for us. I think Graham could really be an amazing tight end, the guy ran a 4.5 40 and he’s 6-6. Could turn out to be in the mold of Tony Gonzalez and Antonio Gates, both of whom played basketball before they turned to football.
I didn't think about Shockey's injuries, good point

No way they can convince me Graham is better than Aaron Hernandez, Anthony McCoy and Dennis Pitta. Even if we are going TE, which I don’t think we should, I just can’t even begin to understand the rationale behind this pick.

Final tweet of nite: w/Nos. 32, 64 & 95 pix, Saints get Nos. 34 (Brown), 37 (Robinson) & 65 (Graham) overall players, per NFLDraftScout. That does NOT make me feel better.
I'm feeling a little, ooh, anxious if you know what I mean.
