Last week I had lunch with Al Woods' dad, and he told me something that really made me feel good...
"Mr. Elias... What I witnessed you and my son accomplish in such a short period of time (regarding the draft) was something I never could have imagined."
You know, I think Al is a great, great player. And he might be able to become one of the best at his position. But because LSU has so many talented players, Al and I certainly can't claim that it was easy to market him as effectively as we -- thankfully -- ended up doing.
Al made himself look like an NFL caliber athlete by jumping high, running fast, and just being the overall bad ass that he is.
I managed to bring more attention to him by pushing as much flattering information and good press to teams as possible, by using social media, as well as my always trusty telephone.
Thanks to over two decades of hard work by Al, and my ability to dish him the extra attention he deserves for his amazing talents, he was able to be the 123rd selection in this year's draft - you GOTTA be excited about that. Al's definitely "The Man," and I know he's got a very successful career ahead of him.
