Seems as if the Saints are content to just get all these guys signed to one-year deals and then play out the year and see what the collective bargaining landscape is like in 2011
We've got 27 ways to add up to 11 (players on the field). I came up with another one last night. -- GW
I disagree
Sharper’s Percentage caught, the percentage of receptions completed into the players coverage was 35.1%(best in league for players taking 75% of snaps). In contrast Harper’s was 64.7%(25th among Safeties). Just for a contrast Derrelle Revis was the number one CB he had 37.8%. Guess who was the number two CB, Jabari Greer with 47.5%.
Sharper was thrown at 41 times, he allowed 14 receptions. Harper was thrown at 51 times and allowed 33 receptions.
Prereply: If you want to say Sharper missed a lot of tackles, Sharper missed 12, Harper missed 11. That is not that big of a difference.

I’m saying he would have been harder to replace. Payton seems ready to groom Jenkins for free safety. Strong safety? Young? Prioleau? Reis? Learning curve needed for all of the above, but Jenkins has more on the field experience.
The bunk about Sharper missing tackles or not hitting hard is just that, bunk. Been watching the playoff games and the others (Dolphins, Washington, Pats, Atlanta) on the DVD’s. Wanted to look for just that since I saw that mentioned. While everyone misses now and then, Sharper delivered some hits, including a brutal one on Kevin Faulk.
I’m glad Sharper is back too, I’m just a fan of Harper.

Learning curve for Prioleau? He’s played in nearly three times as many games as Harper and has practically the same number of career starts. He’s served in Gregg Williams’s system on three different NFL teams. Quite frankly, his on the field experience blows Jenkins’s out of the water.

I have always like Harper, but
He drops more easy interceptions than I have ever seen. He’s got hands of stone. He is a perfect fit for Gregg Williams’ defense because he plays more as a 4th LB up around the line of scrimmage and he does extremely well in that aspect, but he is sometimes a bit of a liability in coverage, and he definitly can’t catch. Still a fan of his though
Peyton, I can eat Oreos faster than you!!!!
Did he drop that many?
I remember some. Fortunately, we have good enough coverage guys back there already with the corners and D Sharp. We can afford to bring him up and let him be more downhill aggressive. He does do that pretty well. Did he get to the pro bowl this last year after someone pulled out? Or am I mistaken.

I remember the Raiders game from 2 years ago I think
We had about 5 INT’s in that game and I think Harper had 1, but we would’ve had about 10 if Harper could catch because he dropped a ton of them just in that game. He puts himself in the right place at the right time pretty often, just doesn’t come down with the pick

And in the first round, too!
Nothing says “high salary” more than that. Remember JaMarcus Russell? The Oakland Raiders sure do…

Hey
never know. Maybe Sharper has another year that’s above average. What do y’all think he needs to do this year for the Saints to sign him back for another short contract?

Are you talking about Sharper?
I think Sharper has signed his last contract, with the Saints at least. They were ready to let Sharper walk and put Jenkins back there as the starter until Sharper decided to come back. You don’t draft a guy in the 1st round to sit on the bench and I think they’re ready to see what Jenkins can do at safety.
