Who will be the Mike Bell of 2010? This is important, people!!
ColdPizza started it here. Skim this first. Then join me in my panic. AIEEEEE!!!!
Seriously: Maybe Bell was used up, or not the guy for the job. That's in the past. What do the Saints do this year???

I don't understand
the love everyone has for PJ Hill. College aside….he couldn’t beat out Hamilton to stay on the team last year. What makes people think he’ll beat him out this year? To beat an incumbent you have to prove that you are more than just a step above. Due to the loss of Bell, it’s possible PJ might make the team, but everyone assuming he’ll beat out Hamilton i think is a bit far off. Especially since all signs point to Payton really liking Lynell.
P J Hill ( I found time to use the search function, you're welcome) :)
Here’s my original assassination attempt.
Vindemptnation for me:
Double DUI’s, chronic injury history, and not much of a pass catcher. He will need a hell of an upside to even make the practice squad.
Can't think what I've just said
Put the soft pillow on my head
HA!
I saw that this was important, so I immediately clicked to come on over.
My first answer was PT. I still believe he could be “the guy” just as well as he was last year, but maybe the recent contract dispute put a damper on his enthusiasm. We’ll have to wait and see.
I’ve recently read a few reports from Pat Y and others that Reggie’s knee is now healthier than it was at anytime last season and he now looks faster than ever. This combined with the fact that he’s been at the OTA’s and made good progress last year at running north/south and finding the running lanes makes me think he may finally explode out of the gate for his best year as a pro.
But, my answer was Photo Op because I think he will win over the role Mike Bell played last year. He seems to be a pretty hard-hitting, physical runner like Bell and is probably hungry as hell to make his mark on the league. I’m hoping for good things from him. PJ could do well too. All in all, I’m fine with our present RB situation.
The most important question is “Will our O-line block as well as they did last season?” They were largely responsible for the run game success. If they do (and I don’t see indication they won’t), then any one of our RBs could potentially pound the rock like a blue pill poppin’ Fred Flintstone at an all-night orgy.

Not too worried about it, huh?
He managed to reach the NFL after a series of injuries resulted in five surgeries on his left knee and right ankle, crippling his college career at San Diego State.
as a freshman in 2003. He was on pace to break Marshall Faulk’s freshman rushing record when he broke his right ankle and fibula in the 10th game of the season. Hamilton’s injuries were severe. His mother said he had to teach himself to walk again
He missed most of the 2006 season with a torn meniscus in his left knee,
"I’m going to do whatever it takes to get on the field, even if it means taking a lot of painkillers.Probably shouldn’t have said that out loud. Let’s see, what’s that word?? “Injury-prone”?? If he runs like Mike Bell, he’ll be out by October. Don’t grudge me on that. I’m just talkin’ out of fear. I do NOT want Julius Jones to be a Saint.

“I do NOT want Julius Jones to be a Saint.”
I do NOT understand why. He performed better than Bell did last season, as well as throughout his career. He’s also not currently available and probably won’t be, now that White is out of the picture at Seattle, so it’s probably a moot point. Still, I think Jones adds a certain degree of quality to either rotation, be it Forsett/Washington/_ or Thomas/Bush/_ . Do you think he just flatout sucks? Maybe he could petition the league to wear number 8.

Used up. Can’t even stick in Seattle.

So how many votes do you think went for PJ Hill only because of:
and stujo4 is a moron
Cheezy Poofs though will always sway my vote.
I thought about picking that one for that very reason, even though I don't know much about PJ... I kid I kid!!
I actually think there won’t be a direct replacement.
I think PT will get the highest percentage of carries.
PT will get more carries; Reggie will be a bit better; Hamilton will likely get more carries: and SP will run a few more screens to PT and Reggie…. most importantly, we’re going to be OK.
We have so many weapons on offense, that SP will have a gameplan for whatever personnel we have on gameday.

i voted stujo=moron..
just to give him a hard time.. don’t know much about PJ other that he ran for 5 million yards in college on a team that everybody knew they would run & still got his yards..
honestly, didn’t see any of those negatives on the scouting report from the old post.. he looked ellusive, shifty and able to make some gains without taking big hits in his preseason action.. seemed that they couldn’t really hit him square ( a lot like pierre, does.. which is his best assett, btw..) sure it was just preseseason but he did show something.. and he beat the odds must of y’all predicted back then making the practice squad & getting signed by another team..

I’m not actually agreeing with it per se, but any poll option where Stujo calls himself a moron I had to vote for.
You guys seem to be enjoying that option a little more than I expected. It’s more popular than hamburgers.

couldn't vote
Because I think Bell’s 654 yards and 172 carries are going to be spread out among PT, Bush, Lynell, and then the erstwhile FB/Hback role Evans/Baconator. I’m not sure of the percentages (maybe most between PT and Bush – give ‘em each 200 more yards, 150 to Photo OP, and the other 50-something to Evans/Baconator), but it’ll be spreading the wealth, just like with our platoon of receivers…
And remember, a significant chunk of Bell’s yards (229 – almost 1/3) came in the first two games in which PT either did not play, or had 0 carries. I just don’t think we’ll miss him all that much (unless injuries hit the RB corps).
So, there is no next Bell – it’ll be a group effort.

It really depends
Depends on if we make it to the Super Bowl again. We’ll have to see who has the wrong f*#@ing cleats on.
That was Payton's fault not Bells.
"I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle - victorious." - Vince Lombardi
Actually, it would have been the equipment manager's fault, not Payton's.
"Here's the funny thing. Last night, I couldn't sleep too well. I called my dad (Bill) at 2:15 in the morning, and told him I had a feeling I was going to hit the game-winner from 42 yards on the right hash. I think I was two yards off."- Garrett Hartley
Assuming LenDale White is suspended for four games, would that include his current stage of unemployment? I other words, if the Saints were to sign him in Week 4 of the regular season, would he be available for the next game or would he still have to serve the four game suspension? I’m thinking there may be a handful of interested teams taking that “hope that everyone else forgets about him” approach.
"I was not on the boat in question." -Darren Sharper
Suppose the Starcaps suspensions had gone into effect this year.
Will Smith would have been out 4 games. If Deuce hasn’t filed retirement paperwork yet and could find a team to pay him to play, he would have to sit out the first 4 games as well, wouldn’t he? So wouldn’t anyone that signs White not be able to use him for 4 weeks? Or is his unemployment/limbo thing different from what Deuce would have to do in the above totally unrealistic “what-if?”

yeah 4 weeks

Who will get Mike Bell’s carries in 2010???
Thursday June 17, 2010 2:45 Guest
2:46 Mike Triplett, TP:
Lynell Hamilton is definitely ready to become the short-yardage specialist. He’s got a great combination of size and speed, so I don’t think the Saints will lose much there. … I don’t know if he can fill in as an every-down back like Bell did when Pierre Thomas was hurt last year. But he has definitely earned a shot at a promotion.
And the fourth tailback is PJ Hill, whom the Saints really liked last summer when they signed him to their practice squad. He looks good out there on the practice field (again, without pads). He could be this year’s version of Lynell Hamilton last year.
Had follow up questions about PhotoOp’s health and PJ’s DUI’s, no responses yet.

Triplett ignored all my questions as stujo4. I need a new name.
I am now stujo5.
This sounds pretty ominous. May have to bow to CP’s demands and do the all-time Saints roster.
Mike Triplett, TP:
Thanks for all the questions, folks. I apologize in advance for the lack of Saints news that will be coming in the next five weeks or so. Like I said, this is the one month out of the year where the NFL really comes closest to shutting down business. … We’ll update you with any important developments, of course, and we’ve got some offseason features planned for the website. But it might be a good time to pick up golf or go on a vacation before the team returns to action at the end of July.

Might be a stupid question...
Why do you guys refer to Lynell as PhotoOp?
In reference to a particular incident or is it more that he never met a camera flash he didn’t like?
THIS is important, Stu:
Who is going to be our backup quarterback in October???
http://blog.al.com/press-register-sports/2010/04/drew_brees_and_wife_expecting.html
Do you think his wife will “take one for the team” and ensure the baby doesn’t arrive on a Sunday??
Patrick Ramsey
But he won’t start. Drew Brees puts the Saints before family and Brittany knows that or she wouldn’t have… arranged to deliver during the season. No way will she be in labor during a game. Deliver on Tuesday, back to work on Wednesday. It’s not like it’s their first male child being born.
That’s what HE thinks, not me. Just the messenger.
Gonna get inside your bitter mind
she wouldn’t have… arranged to deliver during the season.
I’m sure she’ll be glad to know she …arranged that…all by herself.

And when he gets that call at halftime….

I think the question is who's gonna be the third back
I think Reggie and Pierre will do what they did last year but who’s gonna fill Bell shoes? We need 3 top guys not two…
