Re: Florio
And I quote…
Linking to him only keeps him in business. Page views are the cash cow for full-time bloggers. He is not a journalist; he’s a guy that knows how to make money via the internet. So let’s stop promoting his venture; please act as if it doesn’t exist. If you mention he-of-whom-we-shall-not-speak or his venture then the terrorists win.
It was worth the wait.

Good idea
I promise to no longer link to his articles, no matter how absurd and infuriating they are. Will anyone else join me in this oath?

Since I said it in the last Florio related post, I will. (I actually thought that was my quote at first.)
To truly beat the “terrorist” you need to not visit his websites/pages/posts at all.
The first step is to stop the spread, but you should also keep yourself clean too.

I rank Florio quite a bit higher than Peter King. And higher than all the guys at NFL.com. He doesn’t pretend to be objective. He’s wrong about some things and dead on accurate on others.
Gonna get inside your bitter mind
Please show me the "dead on accurate" ones
I admit he’s a good source for legal information sometimes, although I remember him incorrectly interpreting the Starcaps debacle and its rulings at least once. His “insight” into the USC NCAA ruling was mostly a Reggie Bush hate-fest. As much as I dislike King, no one is worse than Florio. It’s my belief that he actually tries to piss off fans with his editorials and douchebaggery. That’s apparently a business model that works well for him.

First to report Stanley Arnoux coming to town.
First to report Jammal Brown rumor and quick with the confirmations.
First to allege that Tom Benson is a Republican (ha!) and doesn’t want to shake Obama’s hand. BOOM! Scoop!
Gonna get inside your bitter mind
I'll concede the point on the Arnoux report
But, I think his report of the Brown trade was based on Jeff Duncan’s earlier tweet. The one about Benson being a douchebag I’ll need further confirmation on before believing Florio.

I wouldn't go, either
But I’d let Payton take the team, if they wanted to go.
Frankly, I don’t think I’d get overly excited about giving any president a photo-op, when every one of them practically since George Washington has put politics ahead of duty. Let them get some work done (or, in Obama’s case, some golfing).
It was worth the wait.
I would go simply because no Saints team has ever had a reason to go before
Get the photo op and press coverage during this our greatest ever year just like every other Super Bowl winner has. I agree that the president should be focusing that time on important matters, but there’s no need to shun the opportunity. All presidents usually do a dozen photo-ops a day anyway when they should be doing the people’s work. If Benson is dragging his feet simply out of selfishness and political dogma, he’s even more of a greedy, narcissistic old bastard than I previously thought. I suspect most of the players really want to go. I believe there’s much more to this than simply Florio’s explanation. I also doubt that Rita would pass up the opportunity. Isn’t she just as much in control of the team these days as Tom?

Two other points
1. I’m thinking the Redskins will surprise in the NFC East this year. Wouldn’t be surprised if they win their division. I haven’t seen anything from the other three teams to make me think they’ll dominate and I’ll never buy into the Cowboys hype because we hear it each and every year.
2. Bears fans have always been cocky and will always be cocky. It’s something about living in the city of Chicago that does it, I think.
