Getting to Know You: Rookie Edition

Mrs. Frumplesworth would like to welcome the fresh meat.
Not too long ago when I asked for suggestions to improve Canal Street Chronicles someone mentioned that I should encourage newer or more timid members to speak up and join the fray. I think that's a great idea. The community games we played this past week ("Copy and Paste my Face!/"Member Mix & Match) were fun but I realized that only old-time members and regular commenters would truly enjoy them; the complete opposite of being open and inviting.
So I am going to try to make up for it today. The 'Getting to Know You' series of posts have been a long standing tradition here at CSC but today it's going to be a little different. Because only members with 20 comments or less may answer the questions today.
That's right. Our veterans have to hit the bench for this one. Rookies only. If you've been quietly reading CSC, always hesitant to let your voice be heard, now is your time to shine. And if anyone has been lurking and wants to create an account today so that they may participate, I will be checking membership throughout the day and will activate accounts ahead of the one day waiting period.
By the way, I think I will have results from Member Mix & Match tomorrow. I can tell you this: Upon first glance, it looks like you all bombed.
So without further ado, here are the five questions for our more shy members. I've rolled out the red carpet for all the quiet guys out there; this post is for you! Don't let me down.
- How long have you been a Saints fan?
- Do you or have you ever lived in the New Orleans area?
- Who is your favorite player, past present or future?
- Best Saints game you've ever attended in person?
- How long have you been reading Canal Street Chronicles?

This is OUR year!! Yea, I said it. Who Dat!!!
imo..
i’m often told i am argumentative & overly sarcastic, but here it goes..
this new blog venture might be doomed from its essense.. people that are naturaly shy do no want to be exposed as such.. it’s like “ladies & gentleman: i present you the dweeb class of 2010..”
i am new here and i’ve noticed the “regulars” often engage each other, ignoring other people’s posts.. that is only natural, it happens all the time in normal conversation..
i believe that the only way you can really invite other people into discussions is by being more open minded..

Maybe Dave should BOLD those rules.
And, I agree with 9th plague ^ PARTIALLY.
I think there may be a challenge getting people who were too shy/busy/quite/etc to post on other topics to post info (even basic stuff) about themselves.
I’m not sure if I agree that “regulars” often engage each other and ignore other people. I think we’re pretty open and welcoming… some are more “welcoming” than others.
Some people like to ‘debate’ (aka argue and/or split hairs). For a new person coming in, that can be a little daunting, I totally understand that.
My only advice would be to realize that you have a right to your opinion, they have their own issues, and (one I need to take more often) when someone tries to argue or split hairs you don’t have to reply… just laugh it off and move on. :-)

1. As long as I can remember, so 30+ yrs
2. I have not, have lived on the Mississipi Coast all my life
3. Tough, but going with Duece – had friends at Ole Miss when he was there, saw him play alot in college
3. Vs. Cowboys in Dome in ’03, beat them 10-9 I believe, I really hate the cowboys so it was awesome for me
4. Been reading religously for about year, found CSC last year in the offseason sometime, this is my first post ever!
Wow... your first comment - WELCOME TO CSC!
And thanks for participating.

1. I’ve been a fan since Hakim dropped the ball. It was my senior year of high school and I was laid up with a hip injury. I’d never even really watched football – I spent most of my childhood skiing or reading Star Wars books. Ballerrrr! Anyways, I had this really gruesome hematoma down my leg so I spent all of christmas break either getting ultrasound on my ass (totally sweet) or watching the NFL playoffs. First game I watched was Saints/Rams, and it was just so exciting, I really got into it. When Milne came up with the ball I was doin the stanky leg in my brace.
2. I’ve lived in New Orleans the last two summers. I lived on the gulf coast (Pass Christian & Mobile) for about 7 years when I was younger and I always know I wanted to spend some real time in Nola so I decided to clerk there for both my summers in law school. Just graduated, currently studying for the Colorado bar – I’ll be taking the Louisiana one in February.
3. Roman Harper and Devery Henderson. Roman is just cool – with his goofy whitening hair and his excellent run support. I just like him. With Devery, I’ve always been drawn to players who struggle with their own potential, but show flashes of ridiculousness from time to time. I am a big believer in the element of chaos that players like that bring to the game, and it’s also cool to see them start to put it together consistently. I’m also a big Nuggets fan, and it’s what I constantly find myself hoping for JR Smith (you Hornets fans will know what I’m talking about).
4. Only Saints game I’ve ever attended in person – NFCCG ‘10. Once it was sure they were headed to the playoffs, I picked up a ticket and prayed. Flew down for the weekend, rode around town all afternoon before the game on beach cruisers with the bartender from Arnaud’s, ran into Kermit Ruffins, snuck a bottle of tequila into the game, got caught, went to the drunk tank, released in time to watch Hartley kick the game winner. Didn’t sleep, flew back across the country the next morning. Excellent.

So...
I guess it was preseason ‘09 – I just don’t comment much.
Re: Getting released: I was three sheets, plus some extra. But I was cooperative, and the stadium was rumbling above me, and it was me, 2 other Saints fans that were very loud and upset, and a Vikings fan with bad Oakleys, a mullet, and a very surly attitude. I’m quite sure he was a WWE fanatic. Anyways, I spent the entire time in the cage trying to watch the tv and tell the guys that hell, it was a bottle they LET me get into the game with, and so they are all like “If you have someone that we can release you to, you’re out.”
So I call my buddy (who I’m not going to identify for discretionary purposes) and convince him, despite his better judgment, to leave his seat and come bust my sodden junk out. Say what you will, but the cops were in a forgiving mood to a kid who smiled all the way to prison and had a bunch of Saints gear on.
I don’t remember how I arrive at Bourbon afterwards, the only thing I remember there is seeing this girl that I had a wicked crush on the summer before with her boyfriend, and she’s all like “Don’t you remember me?!” and if I hadn’t been so completely $^#faced I would have taken the hint and made a move, regardless of ‘ol dude. But if I was always coherent, particularly on the night the Saints went to the Superbowl, I wouldn’t be Montague Beaver III, Esq.

From a long-time lurker...
1. Ever since I realized that the words coming out of my dad’s mouth on Sunday were very bad words, and I should never say them….so ‘bout 25 yrs.
2. Nope, but get down there as much as possible for games and food.
3. I went to Ole Miss, so I think everyone here know the answer to that one….but my fav non-Deuce player is definitely the Cajun Cannon.
4. Rams/Saints (2000) in the most bad-ass wild card game ever.
5. Been reading CSC for about 3 years – was living out of the region and stumbled across it when I was desperate for my Saints fix – I wasn’t even getting to watch the games unless I went to a bar (even tho I wasn’t missing much as far as quality play was concerned).
Is this for real????!?!?!?!

1. I’ve been a fan about 13 years
2. My parents were in the military, so I moved around a lot. I lived in New Orleans (westbank) during my high school years. I live in the DC area now…
3. Drew Brees is my fav! I’ve liked him since his Charger days. I’m also developing a thing for Jimmy Graham :D
4. I’ve never been to a Saints game. My hubby and I are thinking about going to the Saints/Ravens game this year.
5. I’ve been reading off and on for a year now. Work/deployment/life kept me from posting before, but I’m here now!

1. Ever since I was born eating crawfish.
2. I lived in Lakeview up until Katrina blew out the 17th Street Canal literally on my street. After moving to some random place in Maryland, I still go down there to visit a lot.
3. Brees. I haven’t been alive long enough to know some of the people others put. All the stories I hear about him are awesome. Plus, he got us a Superbowl (no big deal).
4. All the Saints games I’ve attended were before Katrina, so I don’t remember them well enough. And of course when the Saints flew to Washington DC, I was in New Orleans, so I never got to see them here.
5. I’ve been lurking around since last year, but I never felt like posting until now.
Welcome to the fun!
I also have moved to “some random place” in Maryland and go down to visit as often as possible. So, where yat? What area in Maryland?

1. How long have you been a Saints fan?
Since birth, basically. But in the lean years, always chose an alternate team with a legitimate chance to make the playoffs, usually the . . . ahem . . . Vikings.
2. Do you or have you ever lived in the New Orleans area?
First 3 decades – Lakeview and Uptown mainly. Missed Katrina being in Japan for the last dozen.
3. Who is your favorite player, past present or future?
Past: Dalton; Present: Drew, of course.
4. Best Saints game you’ve ever attended in person?
Don’t know the year, but around 1990 we played the Eagles on Monday night and it was one of the hardest hitting games I’d ever seen. Eric Martin had an unbelievable night.
5. How long have you been reading Canal Street Chronicles?
I don’t know. Around 27 years?
"Why would I even consider taking the ball out of Drew Brees’ hands?’’
1) About ten years now. I was born and raised on the Gulf Coast (Pensacola), so I’ve been watching the Saints on Sunday afternoons for as about long as I can remember, but I didn’t become a genuine fan of the team until I moved into New Orleans to attend university at Tulane.
2) See above. I lived in the city for about three years while I was at Tulane.
3) Hard to pick just one, but I’d have to say Joe Horn.
4) Never been to one, sadly. It’s a shame that I spend almost three years in New Orleans, within ten minutes from the Superdome and never got up and went to a game in person. It’s my second biggest regret about my time there, aside from not completing my degree. Maybe someday I’ll make the pilgrimage back.
5) Since about the middle of last season when I kept coming across links to posts here on other sites.
Long time Fan
1) From day 1
2) Family lives there.(Hansdat is my nephew)
3) Archie Who?
4) All of them, approx 8. First one at Tulane Stadium. Beer vendors used to walk around with rectangular kegs strapped to their backs selling draft beer.
5) Rafter sitter for a couple of years.

Glad you “came out” here – it is truly a safe place!
I got your voice mail the other day and will respond to it via private email. (When you called, the phone was ringing in my pocket while I was meeting with my boss, and when I looked at who was calling, I told her that it’s my uncle who either has Saints news or there’s been a death in the family.
She asked, “Don’t you need to answer it, then?”
“No, not really,” I replied. “If it’s a death, then someone else will call in a few minutes, so I’ll just wait and see. He might just be calling me to tell me he’s getting those new Saints DVDs that released this week.”

Loyal reader. Everyone's posts crack me up!
1. As long as I can remember.
2. Was born in Chicago but grew up in Slidell. I have been all over the country and there is NO place like Southern La. (Lafayette, BR, and NOLA).
3. Duece. Greatest Saint ever to date. No question. But Brees is close to passing him up.
4. The last game I attended was the Cardinals game in 2007. I brought my girlfriend for her first Saints experience (She was from North La. and loved it). We won. And I was drunk. I was at the Titans game when Duece blew his knee for the last time. Never forget it. I knew he was gonna be done soon after that. My heart was broken.
5. Been reading for about a year now.
i have been on the WAITING list for 4 years now. Called the ticket office and they told me I should get my season tickets next year. We will see. That being said. I just moved out of Houston about 7 months ago (Thank GOD). Living in Lafayette were I went to college (GO CAJUNS! GOTTA BEAT TEXAS TODAY). So if anyone wants to sell thier tickets to a loyal Saints fan this coming season. Let me know.
By the way, I used to detest the Cowboys more than any team in the league, and still do. BUT, The Vikings have taken that spot due to thier whinny a$$ fans.
WHO DAT!!
I was at the Titans game when Duece blew his knee for the last time. Never forget it. I knew he was gonna be done soon after that. My heart was broken.
I remember that. Went up to catch a ball and came down on it wrong, I believe. Guy next to me got a text from a friend outside the stadium saying Deuce was done. I didn’t believe him at the time.

YEP!
That is exactly what happened. I was sitting at the 40 yard line about 10 rows up with my brother. Saw the play and knew he was done! Man I miss seeing that guy just run over people.
Actually
I became a fan of Duece when he was wearing 22 for OLE MISS. I went to visit a good friend that was going to school there while I was attending USL in Lafayette. We went to the Ole Miss vs. LSU game. And Duece ran all over LSU. Ole Miss won the game. I think it was 34-31.
This is great guys!
This went even better than I expected and we finally got some old readers out of the woodwork. Thanks to everyone who has shared. Keep ’em coming!

With 18 comments, I barely qualify, but here goes
1. 1967.
2. Yep. Still do.
3. That’s a tough question; the Saints have had some colorful characters, some of which could actually play football. I like Doug Atkins from the original Saints. I met him as a boy. He was more a force of nature than a football player. From the current team, In Breesus We Trust. Need I say more?
4. I watched the Saints beat the Cowboys 24-14 (I think that was the score) in Tulane Stadium, one of their two victories that year. Back then, the Saints always seemed to find one team cruising for the Super Bowl and take them down – and pretty much stink the rest of the season.
5. Started following the Chronicles last fall.

For the curious, here's a good link about Doug Atkins
My favorite quote, from Bill Curry, warning fellow teammates about Doug: “This guy’s not a a regular human being. If we don’t irritate him, he will not kill any of us today. So don’t you dare mess with him.”
Dammit, the link didn't show up

I’m an old Doug Atkins fan myself; when he was with the Bears and even moreso as a Saint. Can you help me out on something: is my memory of seeing a “Doug Atkins for President” bumber sticker in 1968 valid, or am I just remembering that I wanted to see that on a bumper sticker?
"Dang! The Saints won the Super Bowl!" - my wife, Meso "Happy" Hu Dat.
Can't say as I remember that...
…but I was just a boy at the time. I’m not sure he would have been a good choice for president; we’d all no doubt be glowing in the dark – those of us who are cockroaches, that is. Something would set him off – then the button would get pressed.
I see you’re a fan of Danny Abramowiz too. He was great; I nearly picked him.
or your comments will just disappear...

Hey Dave are you going to minicamp today
I made it across the lake yesterday, but heard on the radio it was canceled as I was driving down Airline. But a little thing like a canceled practice was not going to stop me. I parked in the press area and flashed the guard my St. Tammany library card. Surprisingly it worked.
I walked over to the Marine Corps tent nonchalantly and got to see the holy grail….the freakin Lombardi! (cue choir music) AHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Then a guard who was too good at his job told me I had to leave before they called the cops. I tryed to tell him I was with CSC.
Me, “Canal Street Chronicles, you know the Saints site on SBNation.com”
Guard, " DOT COM!"
He pulled out his taser and shot me in my backside as I was running for my car. As I was shaking uncontrollably and falling to the ground one of the electrodes got snagged on a tent pole and was dislodged. That is when I made my escape.

I love the idea of being more inclusive/inviting for newcomers
but there also may be value for old-timers to share their stories, too, so that the new folks will get to know them some, too. This road goes both directions????
So maybe us old-timers sit back and lurk for a day or two, or just reply in a friendly way, and then share our answers after we’ve heard from the new folks a bit…?
I’m easy and will go with the flow. I’m no Big and Easy, but I’m still easy like Sunday morning anyway…

First ever comment on CSC
1. I have been a Saints fan since I was about 6. My dad went to Tulane and would take our family back to NOLA all the time. Went to my first game against the Colts at the Superdome in 2001, I think… Got my first Saints tattoo on the day of the Super Bowl parade
2. I have never lived in New Orleans but I have family in Kenner
3. Favorite player in the past was Ricky Williams. Present= Drew Brees. Future= (just because his role is not complete yet and his future is bright) Malcolm Jenkins
4.Best Saints game I’ve been to was the NFC Championship game against the vikes this year. Paid $500 for one ticket right behind the end zone. Greatest day of my life
5. I just started reading CSC about 2 weeks ago and I love it

Here we go.
1) I’ve been a Saints fan for 5 years now. It all started when Katrina happened. I heard everything about what happened in New Orleans and even experienced some damage here in Mississippi, and i just started watching the Saints since then.
2) Nope. I was born in Jackson, Misssissippi. I moved to Clinton 4 years ago.
3) Past-good old Deuce…Present-Drew Brees. Overall-Drew Brees. He has done so much for the city and for the team and it is impossible not to love that guy.
4) Giants @ Saints last season in Week 6. section 146, row 14, seat 11. I don’t think I’ve had more fun anywhere else in my life; and the Saints tore the Giants up.
5) I’ve been reading for about a year now.
Hey Y'all
1. Since the beginning of time – 1967.
2. Yep, born in Mercy Hospital.
3. Tough one. I guess Deuce but I really used to love watching the Beer Man (Michael Lewis) run it back. Can I throw Coach in for good measure?
4. Torn between 2: Took my son to his first game (as a real live person – keep reading, you’ll see what I mean), the NFC Divisional in Jan. 2007 when the Eagles got plucked. Other favorite was in Atlanta in 1997. Saints got intercepted (again!) and I was standing there screaming my head off at Ditka (don’t get me started). I was 3 months pregnant and my unborn son chose that particular moment to kick for the very first time. He’s got to be the most loyal Saints fan I know.

Can't wait to see Nandat's progeny taking over for Hartley in 20 years (when Hartley's HOF kicking career for the Saints comes to a glorious conclusion)
We've got 27 ways to add up to 11 (players on the field). I came up with another one last night. -- GW

Here we go...
1. Since I can remember which would be like 5 or 6 years old. (I am 24 now)
2. I live in Chalmette. Da Parish.
3. Roman Harper. I am a fan of hard hits.
4. Recently I went to the Cowboys/Saints game, the one the Saints lost >_<. The ending wasn`t great but the experience was awesome. It had to be my first game in years. Tix were free too. I think it was something like Section 221 Row 1 Seats 2 and 2.
5. About a month or so. I didn`t know this even existed until then =x
I was a Chalmation too.
Until Dec of 2008. We probably know some of the same peeps. Ever hang out at any of the bars in Chalmette? Brewsters, Dog House, Cy’s, or any others. I played a lot of darts, so I’ve been to almost all of the bars there.
"Never interrupt your enemy when he's making a mistake." -- Napoleon Bonaparte
I was born and raised in the 9th Ward, but move really far away to Arabi when I moved out of the ’rents house… never hung out in any Chalmette bars, unless you consider Buffalo Billiards a bar.

I've Got 23 comments, but Since one guy got away with 104 I think I'm ok.
1. My family moved from Louisiana right before I was Born and my dad told me growing up I had to be a Saints fan. But I didnt truly start paying attention until Katrina and rumors were going around the Saints were moving to another city. Then in the 2006 Season I started watching a few games a little bit.
2.No Family had lived there and I have been there to visit them and also for Mardi Gras a time or two.
3. I’m gonna go with Pierre
4.Sad to Say haven’t seen one, living a bit far away from the Dome, plus I’ve been young so It’s hard to go to a game. Hope I can go to one this year.
5.Since mid-way through last year, was sick of saints news going through the msm filter so that they were about to lose the next game and the Saints were bound to lose, fluke etc. Started being a regular reader after the cowboys game, since I could find out quicker from ya’ll faster than the sports things on espn or yahoo.
substantive comments? oh yeah, I'm way under twenty....
1. My family moved to Metairie when I was a baby, they were still routing for the Eagles half the time but I was a Saints fan from the start.
2. I lived in J.P. till I was thirteen then we moved to Picayune till I was about 18. Working on moving back.
3. Split answer: On the field I’d have to say Morten Andersen. Back when he was our offense, I remember routing for him like most fans rout for a QB. Off the field I’m going with the Cajun Cannon; I catch him on the radio whenever possible.
4. I’ve never been to a game when I was old enough to know what was going on, not sure I ever will. I’d rather watch the game in a bar with my brother.
5. Early in last season, I wan’t to say week four, I typed “Bucky Brooks is an idiot” into google, clicked on I feel lucky, and voila I found the Chronic. If there was a websearch bar on the front page, it would be my homepage.

1. How long have you been a Saints fan?
My whole life.
2. Do you or have you ever lived in the New Orleans area?
From the Dell, but I am a senior at Ole Miss
Who is your favorite player, past present or future?
Archie.
Best Saints game you’ve ever attended in person?
Only been to a few. None of them were during the good times. Except for 1, where we almost blew a lead in 2002 to the steelers.
How long have you been reading Canal Street Chronicles?
Beginning of last season? I almost immediately started writing the 12 reasons for hate.
"HOT BOUDIN! COOOOOLD COUS COUS, COME ON TIGAHS, PUSH PUSH PUSH!"
1. Been a fan since they were first conceived in 1967 when I was 11 years old.
2. I lived in the French Quarter when I was a kid, then moved to Metairie later on as an adult. Unfortunately, I’ve now been living in North Carolina for the past 3 years(right in the middle of Panther country).
3. My favorite past players are either Rickey Jackson, Rueben Mayes, or Dalton Hilliard. And of course Drew Brees is my favorite now.
4. Very first game in September 1967. As soon as John Gilliam ran in for that touchdown, I leaned over and told my dad, “Man, we sure have good team here, dont we!!”
5. Umm, I guess I’ve been going to this website for 2 years now, but this is my first time posting.

Childhood
All my life; hopefully will after college / grad school
Drew Brees
They’re all good; unfortunately, they’ve lost the last three I’ve been to (Last TB game this past year, last Panthers game the year before, Redskins game two years before that…I’ll stay away from playoff games, I swear)
Since this time last year;
Ignore this.
Missed the whole “20 comments or less” thing. Guess that college education really isn’t helping me out too much.

1.since i was a kid.
2.no i live in Va. but my dad was from osyka miss and grew up in houma.
3.brees….probaly should have removed him as a option.
4.i went to a saints games every year in ATL. when i was in college but the washington game i went to last year was pretty incredible.
5 about a year.
in a side note i’m getting married and going to a the 49ers-saints game as my bachelor party this year. wanted to go to the home game against atl the next week but my groomsmen don’t want to pay that much for tickets:(. But im going to be holding it down in SF anyway.
One Question: "Who is your favorite player, past present or future?"
“Future”
Is that some sort of reference to whoever suggested we draft Baylen Brees in the seventh round of the draft, just to get first dibs?
Getting to know ya
1. Since birth! In fact, so long I had a Kenny Stabler Saints shirt!
2. Born and raised in NOLA but moved to BHAM, AL 2 years ago
3. That’s a tough one so I will break it down into past and present. Drew Brees favorite present, Bobby or Morten would be favorite in the past. Morten lived close to my mom’s house in Harahan and he invited my buddy and I in for an interview for a school project we were doing. I’ll never forget that!
4. The ATL homecoming game in 06 is the best (me and the other 400000 that attended the game! LOL…but I was really there!)but the 87 strike year when Fourcade beat the reigning Super Bowl champ Giants on Monday night is a close second. I’ll never forget us leaving the dome screaming stay on strike!
5. I started lurking last year before the start of the season and check the page almost everyday now!
Well, Dave, I'd say your lil' "Rookie Edition" experiment has worked well.

My Two Cents
1. Since 1989, when I moved to MS from MO, I learned the game watching the Saints and it didn’t seem right to watch anyone else after I caught on to the game.
2. I’ve never lived there but I have enjoyed an adult beverage or two there.
3. Man, picking one guy is difficult to do here. I loved Sam Mills and Joe Johnson was a stud on the line, but Deuce was my hero at Ole Miss, and I can’t describe the joy I felt on draft day when we called his name.
4. Like many others, the Rams game (Hakim drops the ball) was the greatest I’ve seen in person. I sat next to a guy who had been watching since his childhood and was so happy during the first half he kept buying my friend and I beers, and nearly died of a heart attack in the second! It was the best experience I’ve ever had at a game.
5. I’ve been lurking around, posted maybe once or twice (I haven’t checked) since before the ‘08 season. This is a great site, the regulars constantly hit on great points and always drag a chuckle out of me with the great wit tossed about with Brees-like accuracy. This is truly my number one source for Saints information. Keep up the good work y’all.

Okay, I guess I can come out from hiding.
1. I have been a Saints fan as long as I can remember but I never really kept up with football until 97 so I guess you can say I became a true fan when I was 11.
2. I lived in Metairie and Kenner until I was 7. I still have a lot of family all over South Louisiana.
3. There are to many to name. A few from the past are Joe Horn, Steve Gleason, LaRoy Glover, Willie Jackson, and Deuce. Some from the present include of course Drew Brees then Reggie, Colston, and Vilma. Future? I would say I think Jenkins and Hamilton, even though the both have playing time under their belts, will become studs along with some from this years draft.
4. The only game I ever attended in person the Saints lost. I think it was in 2007 when they played the Eagles. That game was the game Mike McKenzie tore up his knee after McNabb fumbled the ball during a long run. After they lost I swore that I would never jinx the team by going to another game. LOL
5. I stumbled across an article while looking at CBSsports.com’s rapid reports during the playoffs this year and started reading more often during the off-season.

My turn.
1. Ever since I have been watching sports. So maybe 4 th grade 10 or so.
2.I live in Gulf Shores, Al
3.I loved Joe horn, but now it has to be either Brees or Roman Harper (Roll Tide Roll!!!!)
4.I went to my first game this year and we went to 3 of them. The best one was the panthers game at home.
5 I found it on yahoo a little over a year ago and have loved it ever since.

1. How long have you been a Saints fan?
Pretty much since the first minutes of the re-opening of the Superdome. I had managed to make it 30+ years and seven states without ever acquiring an NFL team. I lived in Milwaukee as a kid without becoming a Packers fan, I lived in Chicago for seven years without becoming a Bears fan — my team has always been Oklahoma — but that first couple minutes against the Falcons, new as I was in town, did it for me.
2. Do you or have you ever lived in the New Orleans area?
Came down after Katrina.
3. Who is your favorite player, past present or future?
I don’t really know how it could be anyone but Brees, regardless of how long you’ve been a fan. Is there another guy who exemplifies everything that other teams wish they had on their team? Hopefully without descending into celebrity worship, but rather meant as a quite honest question, I think I could reasonably ask that question across the world of professional sports for any athlete in any game. Drew is a peak performer who is a vocal and active model of his community. We’re really quite lucky.
4. Best Saints game you’ve ever attended in person?
Only attended one preseason game (the only NFL “game” I’ve ever attended live). Had a friend who had a box. Mostly, everybody in the boxes only cared that Michael Phelps beat Spitz’s record that night. (The Saints lost, but nobody who made the starting lineup even played.) NFL tickets are expensive.
5. How long have you been reading Canal Street Chronicles?
I don’t know. I’ve been clicking on articles since ’06, but never really paid attention to this forum since last year.
Also, as a side note to SaintBevo, the university of saxeT has produced some fine, fine athletes in its proud history, and I’m forever grateful to the contributions that saxeT players have made to the Saints organization, just as I’m sure you’re grateful for the contributions Oklahoma players have made. It had to be said. See you in October.
In the immortal words of Socrates, "I drank what?"
1. Always been a Saints fan, gradually more and more interested since 2005.
2. Lived in Houma and went to high school there, lived in New Orleans from 2003 until Katrina, displaced in New Jersey since then.
3. Deuce, Drew, Lance Moore, and Mike Bell.
4. Still never been to a game. Hopefully one this upcoming season.
5. Since my husband (arcuate) found the site at the start of last season.

5. Four months
WHOOT!
1) Been a fan for about 15 years.
2) I live about 60 miles south of the Big Easy, but my dad grew up there and most of his side of the family still lives there.

4) First regular season game I ever attended: Opening day against the Lions, 2009. I still have the ticket stub. It’s not a Superbowl ticket, but it will be my little part of Saints history.
5) According to my profile, August 28, 2009.

1) born a saints fan
2) I was born in Nawlins and raised in Southwest, MS. Spent every summer in Nawlins with my great aunts.

4) My first game I attended was last years Panthers vs. Saints game. Great atmosphere and fun loving people. I had so much fun, but froze my butt off.
5) It’s been close to a year. (My grandfather told me that the Saints would win last year. Unfortunately he passed in November, and didnt get to see it.)
I loved the “Beer Man”.

Dear SaintsGirlMs
I am truely sorry about the loss of your grandfather. As an old Saints fan, I had always assumed the Saints would eventually be champions, but had wondered if it would be in my lifetime. I had pictured my 4 kids (currently aged 21 to 41) as old people one day saying, long after my demise, “Dad would have been so happy,” The good news for me is, I lived to see it!. Please keep posting.
"Dang! The Saints won the Super Bowl!" - my wife, Meso "Happy" Hu Dat.
My First Comment Ever
1. Born a Saints Fan (22 Years)
2. Born and Raised in Alexandria, LA. Lived in New Orleans since Katrina.
3. Deuce and Horn obviously. Currently, I love the O-Line. Not only do they give Brees the time to do what he does best (throw the most accurate passes in the NFL), they are athletic enough to run the best screens I’ve ever seen making convoys that go all the way into the secondary. Bushrod really stepped up when needed.
4. Never seen a game unfortunately. But have seen all of them I can on TV for 22 years. I watched the Patriots Saints game this year in a bar in Vermont where everyone was a Pats fan. Of course I had a huge Who Dat? flag tied around my neck and at the end of the night the very same hardcore Pats fans who were telling me to “f*ck myself and my mother” the whole game were buying me drinks they were so impressed with the Saints performance. No longer do I hate Pats fans.
5. I’ve been lurking for about a year. Never had the gumption to post until now.

1. I guess i have been a Saints fan for as long as i can remember, I am 34 and guess I was born a Saints fan
2. Only lived in BR for 4 months, i am a military brat, but mom is from N.O. and dad is from BR
3. My favorite player of all time would have to be Deuuuccceeee and close seconds would probably be Sam Mills and Beer Man
4. I would say the game last season against the Redskins, because I have lived in the DC area for the past 11 years and hate the ’Skins, but the Superbowl game this year I will forever remember for its historical reasons!!!
5. I have been reading CSC for about 3 years now, am an avid reader, one of these days they are going to block me from reading at work
