Adam Schefter, the fastest tweet in the east, breaks the news that the Saints have signed offensive guard Terrence Metcalf, via his Twitter account...

Saints signed former Bears G Terrence Metcalf to a one-year contract and waived G Joe Tonga.

Geez, what the hell is it with former Chicago Bears players this off-season? That makes the third one this year.

Earlier today Sean Payton said the Saints would be signing one of this weekends free agent tryout players and would make the announcement later today. Times-Pic reporter Jeff Duncan made a wild guess that it would be guard Keydrick Vincent. Close but no cigar. Thanks for playing, Jeff.

started 16 games in the Bears’ 06 Super Bowl season. Meh, honestly he could have never started a game in his life and I’d be okay with it. Pay-Loo know their Offensive linemen.

I think maybe they made us take some of their trash because they took Bolllocx off of us last year (and I know "off of" is incorrect - with the kiddos on summer vacation, my grammar filter took a break for this comment)

I should hope not

Played 6 games in 2008, then got suspended for violation of the league’s drug policy.

Missed all of 2009 after being released by the Bears. In March.

Maybe it’s like St. Anthony said:

“It’s an opportunity for me to just go and party,” said Hargrove. “Now I don’t have to worry about piss man knocking at my door. I ain’t got to worry about dealing or knowing people from the league. So it was like, Ok, I’m free and I can do whatever I want now.”

don’t know how this is news worthy he aint gonna make the team but a little competition never hurts. We should be more worried about signing a back up QB in the chance that Drew Brees (knock on wood) gets hurt
