Favre has serious issues.
I know. Big surprise, right? He knows he’s coming back and has known since the beginning. Yet, he can’t resist playing this out in the media and stringing Vikings fans along in the process. It truly is all about him. I once was a big fan, but now I can’t wait to see him buried under a blanket of black and gold on Sept. 9th.

Favre has gone from “the big kid just having fun out there” to the immature drama queen in four short years. I can’t think of anyone else in all my long years of following football who has squandered so much admiration and good will as he has.
It was worth the wait.
You guys have no regard for getting old and fearing your own mortality
Favre’s afraid. Afraid of getting old and afraid of dying. He wants it to be like it used to be. One more time. He has no exit strategy, he only knows football. He needs a therapist, someone to help him move into his next phase of life. May I suggest:

But Favre’s such a troglodyte, he might do better with this guy:

Anybody watch Bethenny Getting Married? I like her shrink, Xavier Amador:

We don't need to escalate
You see, war is not the answer
But I don’t give a crap about Favre’s psyche. I want to see him destroyed with a career ending game on September 9th.
We don't need to escalate
You see, war is not the answer
Oh boy
Prepare for an avalanche of hate visits from Wikings. “Saints fans are hoping Favre gets hurt!”
It was worth the wait.
Of course, I meant psychologically hurt, unable to become mentally prepared to take the field, rather than physically injured.
(that was a close one)
We don't need to escalate
You see, war is not the answer
Agreed
I lost respect for him for what he did to the Packer organization. If he had just retired…after that long emotional press conference, things would have been different. He willing signed up with the Vikings just to get back at Green Bay because he didn’t get his way. Now he’s doing the same thing to his own Viking teammates. Leading them on. He’s very self centered.
He’s all about him and gets way too much attention from the media
Does anyone hear that choking sound from up north?
Snap, place, kick! And it's good! It's good! It's goo-hoo-hood! Pigs have flown! Hell Has frozen over! The Saints are going to the Superbowl!

Out of curiosity, if you guys could no longer bitch about Favre….what would you do? I think you guys have a variation of Stockholm Syndrome going on, i really do.
Geez, guy. Come down off your high horse.
If Favre wasn’t up to his usual selfish antics, we’d have to just bitch about your bitching about our bitching.

No thanks, i like my high horse the way it is. I apologize if you don’t like the fact that i don’t hate on people. I was raised better than that.
Love you, Jeff. {{{hug}}}

There's a difference between "hate" and "dislike."
“Hate” is a very strong word that doesn’t even come close to how I feel about Favre. I don’t necessarily dislike him either. I’m just no longer a fan. There is a difference. Even my negative feelings for Florio are of the “dislike” variety. I don’t “hate” anyone because no one on the planet is worth the effort of such strong feelings. So, please don’t insinuate that my post up there or the posts by the others are meant to “hate on” someone. “Favre Watch” was part of Dave’s post and we simply commented on it and him. We don’t need a Holier Than Thou post police around here.

Sorry, but when you dislike something, you avoid it.
The last thing anyone around here seems to do is avoid talking about Favre and the Vikings. I don’t even get it. Is it because some guy from Mississippi did real well and i missed the memo that says to not like the neighbors? How did we manage to get into such a beef with a franchise over one damn game? We’ve been battling the Falcons for decades and we treat them more like an annoying relative that shows up unwanted at a family reunion.
We didn’t treat Jerry Rice this way when he hopped from the Raiders, to the Seahawks, and the Broncos. Everyone knew he should have given it up, but everyone was like “oh it’s ok, it’s Jerry, best ever, nobody tells Jerry to quit except himself.” Favre though we treat as some football pariah, even though unlike Jerry, Favre can still play. Oh, but it’s different with Favre, right, because he’s suddenly a drama queen who lets his team hang out to dry. Cause, you know, at 40 years of age with a rickety body and coming off surgery you should be jumping up and down screaming “hey guy’s it’s cool, I’ll be back for sure.”
You say none of your posts and the posts of other people here are full of hate or dislike. Yet you know as well as i do that at any given time i can find a few dozen posts from people here at CSC wishing Favre gets his ankle snapped come September 9th or predictions about how he’ll get hit so hard he’ll never make it through the season. In less than a year Saints fans have suddenly made him into a villain because we see him as a threat. Why? What has he ever done against us? It wasn’t Favre that whined about how the Vikings deserved to win that game. It wasn’t Favre who said the Saints played unfairly with illegal hits and bad calls. All Favre did was say he shouldn’t have thrown that pass that caused the interception. He handled the loss with class, yet for some reason because of the antics of the Vikings fans, we choose to blame him for almost everything.
He’s almost 41 years old. A grandfather. He’s the only player in history with 3 consecutive MVPs. He’s won eight divisional championships, been to five NFC championship games, 2 Super Bowls, and won one. He’s battled drug addiction, alcohol addiction, went through an emotional passing of his father, and supportive his wife through cancer all while racking up one of the most prolific careers in the history of sports. The man has EARNED every damn right to throw footballs to kids in high school to see if he feels he’s capable of playing again.
You say I’m on my high horse, that I’m a “Holier Than Thou” policer. But you all can’t seem to see past your own damned rose colored glasses to understand the truth. That it’s all of you up on your horses, looking down your noses at an aging athlete who simply wants to keep playing a game he loves as long as his body lets him. Keep looking down your nose at me too…I’d rather be down here than take my place at all of your sides in this debate.

Please allow me to clarify
Rose-colored glasses, huh? Favre’s overall career is besides the point of our above comments. I don’t doubt he’s had a great career and his achievements are many and impressive. The only thing I and most others were commenting on is his desire to keep the media and Vikings fans and all others waiting with baited breath to find out if his highness is coming back. I admit I don’t have direct evidence, but I believe he’s known he’s coming back to play for some time now. Maybe he hasn’t known from the beginning, but it’s hard to believe he doesn’t know now and yet would rather drag it all out just like last year.
I can’t believe I’m taking the time to try and explain this to you, but this blog (to my understanding) is mostly about discussing teams and players, especially the Saints but not limited to them. Not all of that discussion and those comments are going to be filled with praise for said players. Not everyone is Drew Brees, whose greatness is without question. I don’t understand where your line is between commenting on a player and “hating on” a player. If we were to say Sedrick Ellis hasn’t yet played up to the level of a 7th overall draft pick, are we hating on him? If we were to say Darren Sharper was foolish for getting into that Tweet war with Visanthe Shiancoe, are we hating on him? Where’s the line? What’s the difference from saying Favre is selfishly dragging this out to satisfy his own need for attention?
The only reason I’m taking issue with you accusing us of bitching and hate is that this seems like a recurring trend with you. First you took exception with our dislike of Mike Florio and now you’re doing the same about our comments over “Favre Watch.” We aren’t all ever going to agree on everything and everyone (except Drew Brees). If we say something negative about someone you like or if you disagree with us, please tell us why but please don’t just accuse us of bitching and blind hate.
I apologize if my comments offended you. Maybe we just have a misunderstanding going on here. Just be aware that accusing us of bitching and then soon after saying “I was raised better than that” is pretty close to the textbook definition of “holier than thou.”

You are so different than I
I don’t think I’ve said one comment to you (and if i have it’s probably some juvenile “your momma stinks” sort of thing). But the reason we hate on Favre? At least for me? Is he is a part of the enemy. Favre hasn’t said a word about the last game but ya know what? He still puts on a purple shirt and a purple helmet and tries to beat the Saints. Thats enough for me to dog on him. If Favre was on the Saints in the past I would have been his biggest supporter and sent hookers and pizza to his house. But seeing how he is on another team that could keep my Saints from the SB, then guess what, I hate him. I have a passion for my team and and a passionate, yet “oh well” dislike for the ones against the Saints. Do I discredit anything about Favre? Oh hell no, he is and has been a great QB and a real tough SOB. But he ain’t ours!!! So therefor when he (or the media) is pulling the maybe/maybe I’m gonna whine. I can’t participate in the break down of X’s and O’s or statistical nuances of a team but my fandom isn’t less than yours. I/we have nothing to get up about other than stuff like this. I’m not analytical on the exacts of the stuff like I don’t know the reaction on the universe if we switch from a 3-4 to a 4-3 but I can get passionate if one of our guys is accused of taking drugs or if a rival can’t decide if he is gonna play. In other words, different fans have different buttons that push them. As long as they aren’t bagging on you personally or attacking your loved ones then whats the issue? BTW, your high horse just pooped on my lawn.

Jeff has a point here. Favre can’t play forever, and when he stops, what will we do? What WILL we do???
Ah, not too worried about it.
We don't need to escalate

Phillip Rivers can be next on our QB bitch list.
I’m sure that’ll be right up your alley. :)

Bwet FAR-VUH is a poopy-head!
:-P
;-)
Now for a bit of seriousness.
Comparing FAR-VUH to Jerry Rice in this situation is akin to comparing corn flakes to the space shuttle. Both are made of atoms & molecules, then they get different.
FAR-VUH retired. Then he un-retired. But his former team moved on, committed to a future instead of a past, and only offered him a backup spot. Bwetty got all petulant, ran off and found another team – but only played for them long enough to use them as a stepping stone to reach the team he really wanted to play for, a rival of the team that wouldn’t let him toy around with their future. Oh yeah, he “retired” from the Jets too, remember?
Rice played for SF until he was released. He felt he could still contribute so he became a FA and was signed by Oakland. He only retired ONCE.
Bwet FAR-VUH us a self-centered, arrogant, attention whore; Jerry Rice was a great football player that played until he could no longer contribute, that walked away with dignity.

people are assigning an awful lot of intent and psychological analysis to someone's actions when they really have no way of truly knowing what his specific motivations were...
