My Visit to NOLA
Hey Saints Fans! Its Percy Harvin My Fav(!), Im sure most of you know me by now. And well if you dont then know you do :)
Just last week I traveled to New Orleans with thousands of churches over the US and I had a chance to take a look at your guys' beautiful city.
Being a Viking fan, one can only think about how excited I was at coming to the Big Easy. All the months that led up to my departure, I was bittersweet about going for A) This was one of the States biggest tourist places and B) This is the City that ripped my heart out, stomped all over it, Drowned it in the Gulf of Mexico only to resuscitate it at the last possible second... Okay I may have exaggerated there but you understand my point, New Orleans was NOT my most desired place to spend a week being a faithful and passionate Viking Fan. Upon arriving into Jackson Lousianna, I noticed that there was water everywhere on the side of the roads. Being a miseducated person of the City, I naturally assumed that this was New Orleans and that was from Katrina. I was wrong about the part about it being New Orleans and im pretty sure I was wrong about Katrina too. When all was said and done and I left New Orleans, my view on coming was completely obscured. New Orleans quickly became one of my favorite cities in the US. I came into interact with many Saints fans and not once was I belittled, made fun of, ridiculed or anything of that nature, BUT I was greeted to a variety of football knowledge and football savvy fans. Even while wearing my Percy Harvin jersey through the French Quarter and Bourbon Street, I wasn't harassed in the slightest. That was one of my favorite things about your city. Here are some others
SuperDome- A fair comparison between your Dome and ours is something to the effect of Eminem and Wocka Flocka, with yours being Eminem. Easily the second best stadium I've ever been to (For first see "Target Field"), just everything there is made to the T and I had no complaints about it.
Convention Center- Very spacious and very cool.
Restaurants- Wow! Mulattes, Mothers, Hard Rock, and the Mariotti (I think) Hotel Restaurant were by far some of the best I've ever eaten at. With a BIG shout out to Mulattes. The Fried Chicken Po'Boy was well worth the $14.
The Tour Guys- Swamp Guy and the City Tour Guy were VERY informative and entertaing at the same time, and you dont find that combination a lot.
The City Itself- Just an Amazing city through and through, with nice people, pretty good weather compared for what they told us it would be, and a positive atmosphere.
Only Dislike of your city was the fact that we were assigned the Queen and Crescent Hotel. If you're looking for a Hotel in New Orleans, I wouldnt have the Q&C at the top of your list. A lot of problems with that hotel but I digress.
You guys are very blessed with an amazing city.
Finally I wanna thank you for all of you that live in the residential area or have to commute into the Downtown part of the city for holding all 25,000 of us. Im sure if you were anywhere near New Orleans last week that you saw one of those lime green backpacks, and if you went into the City everyday, you now probably HATE the color of limes and the fruit itself.
Sincerely, Percy

Hey Percy, Thanks for the kind words… sounds like you had a great trip – other than the hotel.
(I’m not in the city now so I didn’t see your backpacks, but I was born and raised there, and NOLA will always be my home.)
Want to go to the Saints vs. Cowboys game? I've got an extra ticket.
btw, rec’d the post.
thanks again for sharing your experience.

Awwww, I was hoping this would be a Vikings vs. Saints trash-talking post.
But, since it isn’t, welcome PHMF. I’m glad you enjoyed your visit. Best wishes to you, your church, and your team (except on 9/9/10) this year. Come back to CSC anytime.

It’s a dump.

"The worst hotel staff ever. Your trip will be hell"
Thanks for the otherwise positive post, Percy. You’re a good Viking fan. But worst of luck to you on Sep 9.
Good times are comin',
but they sure comin' slow.
Haha I laughed really hard when I read that
Because its true.
- The elevator never worked, we actually got stuck in there for about 10 minutes and they had to manually open the doors.
-The toilet just randomly overflowed, with enough water to go onto the carpet.
- Cold Showers
- Standing Water in the Shower
- Stains on my Comforter
- Red stains on our sheets
- And one stair leads to the second floor but stops there and the other goes straight to the street. Lol it was crazy.
I love Twins Baseball and Minnesota Vikings Football.

“Red stains on our sheets”
Probably from Favre’s ankle. Bleach can only fix so much.

Thanks Percy!
Glad you enjoyed the city! You experienced the best food the world has to offer. I don’t eat po-boys as much as i used to but every now and then I’ll crave one. There’s nothing like a po-boy.
Glad you had a good experience in New Orleans.
Peace Brother
Thanks, Perc.
I’ve never heard of the Q&C, but it sounds so awful I almost want to go stay there just to have a story to tell. Good to hear Mothers is still dishing out the tasty.
You should get back down there sometime around September 9th. I hear a movie is being shot in the NOLA area with your boy in it: Percy Harvin and the New Orleanians: The Football Thief. Apparently, Tracy Porter plays the villain. Sounds interesting.
Yeah I heard about it,
the trailer looks good with a scene where Percy runs over Porter and Sharper ;)

Percy run over Porter? Haha! uh uh
Percy run over D Sharp? Hahahaha! No way

He forgot to mention that, even though he was able to ‘run him over’, Tracy had the presence of mind to knock the ball out as he was being pushed over.
That’s right… ANOTHER turnover ruins the day for the Vikes.

Unless...

Thousands of church(es) people
and their destination is New Orleans?, is the next trip to Las Vegas? I joke, but thanks for your patronage, and kind words. N.O. is truly unique, and it was great growing up there. No place like, not even close.
You think you know, and you don't know, and you never, ever will.-Jim Mora Sr.
Haha actually the next one will be held in San Antonio
They pick big spacious places to accommodate the thousands of people.

Ya'll Lutherans are really good people
This is the second time you guys have come down in the thousands (I think the ELCA’s convention was last summer) and all you guys do is help. I’ve never heard anything bad about you guys at all, only really, really impressive things.
Thanks but we just try to do whatevers needed and
we ALWAYS ask ourselves “WWAVD?”. If you’re not familiar with that term its “What would a Viking Do?” :)

So you were really there to pillage and plunder… defile our women and steal our gold?

Oh, now I understand.
Y’all came down here and threw footballs to Porter?
(Sorry, dude. Just couldn’t resist that one. Hope you come back to NOLA again.)

Gothic in the house .
Been to New Orleans several times . Not since Katrina . I have family in Gulf Shores . I’m from Iowa so we shoot down I55 from St.Louis . It is an amazing town One of a kind . Do have to watch the scam artists in the Quarter . Like the bums in Key West . You have to consider them part of the tour package . If those spots were brown they could have been from the game . Being red they’re probably from Peyton Manning . You know what I’m saying if you are from there . Brown spots in the Quarter come from periodic shootings . I saw five on the same intersection on my last visit .
The resteraunts are good . The state is nice too if you have a chance to see it . I’ve driven around the Dome but never entered . I considered tickets this year . 250+ was too steep !
-—Did you know that after this year the Vikes and Saints 2011 thru 2013 . Meet potentially three times . In Minnesota ! Interesting . Huh .
There’s awful folks in every city, and the weakest and dumbest of the herd tend to gravitate to them. People that know how to handle themselves (and their booze) seem to do just fine. Heh.
There is actually a brown stain on the steps of the church at Loyola University that I’m responsible for. Though the culprit was four hurricanes to the stomach, not a bullet. While the brown stain thing sounds like an interesting urban legend, I wouldn’t start praying for the recently fallen until you break out the Luminol.
Ha! I'll be heading back there in three weeks
so I’ll be sure to check for the spot lol
