Coming Back Stronger... Thanks Phil!
Hey Guy & Girls,
I got a surprise in the mail today! :-D
As you can tell by the title of the post, it was a copy of Drew's book "Coming Back Stronger". It was completely unexpected (I didn't order it); but it was the perfect gift at the perfect time.
Without getting into boring, personal detail, a few unexpected challenges have come up in my life recently... nothing unusual or threatening to my life, but difficult none the less.
I'm working hard to overcome those challenges, and I know that great things are in store really soon.
But, I just wanted to acknowledge my friend Philip and thank him for sending me this gift.
And...
For those of you that have read the book, I'd love to hear your "takeaways" and favorite/most uplifting moments (without revealing any spoilers please).
Dave, If this is too off topic, just let me know and I'll remove it.

He said he and his brother used to catch “crawdaddies.” I mean really, he’s lived in La. for 4 years now. Crawdaddies.
Someone needs to ask him what that means. :)
aaah.. that'll be crawfish..
heard that expression many times.. quite used in northern la.
by the way.. crawfish are not just indigenous of la..

Under the "Strange But True" category:
They sell crawfish in pet stores in Japan for about 3 or 4 dollars each.
To have a crawfish boil I’d have to sell everything I own!

no, it’s a personal friend… sorry for the confusion.
He reads the boards on occasion, but I’m not sure if he’s a member yet… despite my best efforts. :-)

I wish you well with your challanges.
You impress me as being highly competent & I trust you will successfully overcome/kick a** any potential obstacles.

Thanks, DHD. I appreciate it.
Despite the difficulties, I think a lot of good will eventually come out of the whole situation.

DK, I hope things get better for you
I have Drew’s Book, but haven’t read it yet. I have a ton of what I refer to as “Homework” to read before I can crack it open. I have several John Gray “Mars and Venus” books that I must read first.

The "Mars and Venus" books are actually very good books… if you’re hoping to improve an existing relationship, it helps if the other person is reading it too… but you CAN’T force them to read it and expect them to get anything out of it.

I look forward to reading this book
Could really use some uplifting words right now! It’s def. on my list of books to read.

I feel compelled to buy it today. Been meaning to but just hadn’t gotten around to it yet.
If anyone has read both Drew’s and Sean’s books…. is one better than the other? Or is it like comparing apples and oranges?
A tale of 2 books
I would have posted this yesterday, but I have only just registered and had to wait 24 hours.
They’re both good books. Sean’s book is more about football and the team. It’s a quicker read and definitely the way to go if you’re mostly interested in the football side of things. You could always pick up Drew’s book if you’re still wanting more.
Drew’s book ties together the events of his life (it basically covers high school to present) with the lessons he’s learned along the way and how everything relates to his faith. It’s a little bit of a lot of things, but it boils down to “here’s my story, I hope reading it benefits you somehow”.
Reading both, it was also interesting to read about both sides of the conversation about the events of Drew’s first visit to New Orleans (getting lost with Sean).
Certainly, I do recommend both, but Drew’s book may leave you disappointed if your looking only for football and Sean’s book, while it has it’s inspirational moments, is more about the football-related events of his life.

PS. It’s interesting that your first comment would be to Drew-Dat… he might be moving to Dallas and is interested in our extra ticket. :-)
