For new-look Carolina Panthers lots of change ... for the better?
USA TODAY
Outlook: Lots of uncertainty on both sides of the ball, and the Panthers simply don't appear capable of challenging the New Orleans Saints in the NFC South. Making the postseason (and maybe saving Fox) will be difficult.

That’s quite an understatement in that it allows that it is still possible. Of course it’s possible….. but it’s not bloody likely. Discussion should focus on who gets last place in the division: Panters or Bucs?

Tell me, is there no place for them today?
So, are they changing their uniforms, or does the "new look" mean something else? looking up from their steep decline?

I didn't even have to read the article to make that comment - skim and scan and move on, Hans!

I wonder if for Carolina, it'll be like our first full Year One with Aaron Brooks (2001 7-9...a steep decline from the 10-6 of Haslett's first year)

since they also will be moving a part-time starter who did well in limited action to the full-time role

Their will be plenty of tape footage
Every team will have dissected Moore’s game from last season and will be prepared. It’s going to be a lot tougher on him this year.

Unless he really is good
In five starts last year, he had a 98.5 passer rating on one of the best rushing teams in the league. If he can be efficient, and the Panthers’ run game doesn’t slow down any, Carolina will be a tough nut to crack, don’t kid yourselves.
It was worth the wait.
Add this Panther-lover to the list, stu.
Don’t worry, ME… You’ll join me in the “Panthers aren’t going to have a ‘steep decline’” column.

If he was really good
chances are he wouldn’t have been backing up jake delhomme

Are you kidding? He could be Matt Cassel. And all that it eschews. Meaning not winning.

A flaw in your logic
If the Panthers coaching staff had any clue regarding quarterbacking, Jake Delhomme wouldn’t have started for as long as he did. They might have started Delhomme over Brees.
Stu, regarding passer rating: yeah, it’s an overrated stat. But that’s only because stats are, themselve, overrated. They provide no context, and too often don’t explain why things happen. Still, they’re the only numbers we have; and passer rating is an amalgam. I could break it down to completion percentage, TD-to-interception ratio, yards per catch, etc. etc. etc. …but passer rating pretty much already does that. Higher ratings, over sufficient time, indicate better quarterbacks. The problem with Moore’s passer rating isn’t the stat itself, but the small size of the sample.
Now my brain hurts. Thanks.

We already had this conversation. I won. You blew up the Stratego board. I ran and hid behind Mom. The end.
