Saints Predict-A-Poll: Records and Standings
Got a little warm here on CSC yesterday in the Florio FanShot, huh? That dude knows how to stir up some s*** with Saints fans. Even I got in on the action; got myself one of them green comments and everything. In case you do other things during the day, like work, go check out the carnage for yourself.
Based on that thread, I think it's obvious we need an official prediction thread for next seasons final records and standings. And I'll be darned if that doesn't just fit in perfectly with our current 'Predict-A-Poll' series of posts. So come one, come all. This is your chance to be a hero and, at the very least, a sure fire way to land yourself on Stu's accountability index, formerly known as The Grudge List.
Predictions can take many forms. For those feeling really frisky, let's get your best guess at the division standings across the entire league, final records optional. Or feel free to power rank the entire league on one big list. If you don't want to get that detailed, just rank the playoff teams from each conference.
But at the very least, everyone - and I mean everyone! - has to get a final regular season record prediction down for the Saints. Definitely want to see some of our new members get in on this action as well. Might even activate memberships early if I see some new members sign up today. Veterans, I know you won't let me down with this.
For easy reference I've included the names of all the teams after the jump, listed by conference and division.
Start the insanity!

I’m thinking we make it 2 games into the playoffs and run out of steam and lose to the Packers. I’m picking a Packers/Colts Superbowl with the Colts the winner.
Same as last season: 13-3 and Super Bowl champions
AFC (in order of finish): Patriots, Texans, Chargers, Ravens. Colts and Steelers as wild cards. Ravens over Patriots in conference championship.
NFC (in order of finish): Packers, Saints, Cowboys, 49ers. Vikings and Falcons as wild cards. Saints over Packers in conference championship.

Two penguins walk into Lambeau Field…
One penguin asks the other, “Did you hear Brett Favre retired?”
"The good news is we're gonna sign you to the roster. The bad news is you're 26 pounds overweight and I gotta fine you, and that's gonna cost you more than you'll make for the playoff game." Sean Payton to Deuce McAllister, January 2010.

You are my people, you are my crowd, this is our music, we love it loud...
Chargers are a very good team
but their current situation with Vincent Jackson and Marcus McNeil concerns me. They probably can win without them, but if they don’t have them during the whole season, then it’s not far off to think that someone else can win their division. Hell, their division is a crapshoot all the time
by Ezio_Auditore on Jul 9, 2010 11:07 AM CDT up reply actions
Not as much of a crapshoot as the NFC South. I just don’t have much faith in Denver’s QBs. If Orton starts and San Diego flounders significantly, the Broncos might have a shot at winning the division. Otherwise, I just don’t see anyone else stepping up enough to take it from them. I’m honestly not too concerned about the Vincent Jackson situation. He’s nothing special in my eyes, just a product of the system. Rivers will simply find another go-to WR.
"I was not on the boat in question." -Darren Sharper
I agree with you about the NFC South lol. I just hope that the first to last curse doesn’t apply to us.
I also agree with you about Jackson. Just a product of the system, but if McNeil decides to hold out, can the Chargers find a viable replacement for him? They have to keep Rivers safe if they want to win. The addition of Ryan Mathhews might help take the load off Rivers though. Who knows?
by Ezio_Auditore on Jul 9, 2010 11:18 AM CDT up reply actions
If the Chargers really can’t win without Jackson, I see the Raiders stepping up in that division. Jason Campbell looks like he can be a major upgrade from Jamarcus Russel, the D looks solid, and Heyward-Bey and Louis Murphy should improve. If they can get any kind of offense going, they have a definite shot at .500, and maybe the division
"Here's the funny thing. Last night, I couldn't sleep too well. I called my dad (Bill) at 2:15 in the morning, and told him I had a feeling I was going to hit the game-winner from 42 yards on the right hash. I think I was two yards off."- Garrett Hartley
As someone living in the Redskins TV area....
Campbell isn’t a major upgrade. He might be an upgrade, but not one that will make a difference. If the Raiders O-Line doesn’t give him an exceptionally long amount of time to make a decision then their offense is going to be in trouble. If the Chargers implode my money is on Denver. I was actually very close to putting them as winning that division in my prediction, but that whole division is just so weak I think San Diego can win it without its stars.
"I want to hand this trophy to the MVP of the Super Bowl -- and the MVP of the entire league.''
-- Saints coach Sean Payton, handing the Vince Lombardi Trophy to Drew Brees after Super Bowl 44.
I said looks like. Their OC will make sure to use Campbell to the best of his abilities. And besides, remember he’s taking over for a LT that played QB. He should be a pretty big upgrade

Agreed VAsf
As someone in the same area, I’ve seen Campbell enough to know that he has his limitations. I feel he will be an upgrade over Russell, but he certainly isn’t one of the NFL’s “smartest” quarterbacks, and I’m not talking overall intelligence here. I’ve also noticed he seems to be a slow decision maker and can have problems reading defenses, although the Saints made him almost look All-Pro last year! I guess even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and then…

My Predictions
AFC
1) Ravens
2) Colts
3) Chargers
4) Jets
5) Patriots
6) Steelers
Notes: So close: Texans, Dolphins, Broncos, Bengals. Patriots get wildcard. I know they’re in decline, but don’t count them out just yet. Jets I have at a lower seed bc Sanchez will be that team’s Achilles Heel, just watch.
NFC
1) Saints
2) Cowboys
3) Packers
4) 49ers
5) Falcons
6) Vikings
So close: Panthers, Redskins, Seahawks, Eagles, Bears. The Saints have a tougher sked, IMO, but they have experience now to handle adversity. Plus, Brees in his prime. We just need the running game to work again this year and our D to bring havoc again.
AFC Championship
Ravens over Chargers
NFC Championship
Saints over Packers
Super Bowl XLV
Saints over Ravens
Ravens are gonna be the toughest team this year. Everyones firing on all cylinders on that team. BUT they are a beatable team and Flacco is not on par with Brees. PT gets SB MVP after a 2 TD 100+yard performance.

I don’t think there’’s a regression equation that can be derived to accurately, mathamatically, predict the outcome of any season. That’s why they play the game, blah, blah, blah. I'm cheating.
Going easy.
Saints 12 -4, NFC South Champs reversing the trend of last to first. Too tired ( and too many beers) for all that other stuff.

Are you ready for some off-the-cuff predictions and a few intermittent, ridiculously precise prognostications? Well then, read on MacDuff!!

Super Bowl XLV
Saints beat Baltimore 24-20, on a 4th-Q strip of Flacco at the Ravens own 10-yard line (by a blitzing Roman Harper) that bounces into the end zone before Big Sed falls on it. The subsequent drive by the Ravens ends on a stuffed 4th and 1 rushing play near midfield. Then Drew takes a knee 3 times and we win again.
"The good news is we're gonna sign you to the roster. The bad news is you're 26 pounds overweight and I gotta fine you, and that's gonna cost you more than you'll make for the playoff game." Sean Payton to Deuce McAllister, January 2010.
You got the Super Bowl all wrong
Ravens defense stifles Saints for most of the game, and they pull ahead 24-20 on a Shayne Graham field goal with three minutes left. That’s too much time to leave Drew Brees when he needs a TD to win the Super Bowl. The Saints score…with 9 seconds left. 27-24, TwoDat.
It was worth the wait.
ok, I'll let it go down that way, too
you forgot that Payton lets Brees kick the XP to put us up by 3
