TomPelissero Tweet: #Vikings just put out a depth chart for first time in camp. Interesting: Asher Allen, not Lito Sheppard, is listed as the first-team RCB.

Rotoworld.com:
Asher Allen, not Lito Sheppard, is listed as the starting right cornerback on the Vikings' first depth chart of camp.
Rookie Chris Cook is presumably listed behind Antoine Winfield at left corner. Allen has been seeing a lot of time as the nickel corner in practice, with Sheppard relegated to second-team work. The starting battle will likely come down to Asher vs. Cook.

GAAAAA!!!! Chilly figured it out.

Say it aint' so, Stu!

Wouldn’t you prefer seeing Lito starting on Sept. 9 for Drew to victimize?

I definitely would. But I doubt that he’d last longer than the first quarter.

Then we’ll just have to line up 4 WRs constantly to get them to use a dime and get Lito out on the field.

They never planned to start Sheppard

well that's interesting

What is your unnamed secret source? It certainly isn’t common knowledge because I’ve been following this story quite closely.

Or is this one of those contrarian things? Mary, Mary…..

Vikings fans

I was doing research on every defensive secondary, never got around to publishing…lazy

you have got to be crapping me
Vikings fans

Do you read half the crap that Saints fans post on here? You seriously think that Viking fans are an objective source of information about the team’s roster strategy? Jesus1000.

And you are more knowledgeable about the Vikings?

I didn’t talk to just any fans, I talked to Grime.

Just like if I had a question about the Saints I would ask Coldpizza not you.

Oh please stop. Please. Seriously.

Just like if I had a question about the Saints I would ask Coldpizza not you.

About historical Saints excepting Archie Manning, you would be wise to do so. About current Saints…. CP despises most of the players on the Saints roster because they do not meet his standards.

I don’t see how you can get an objective evaluation from Grime, CP, me, or anybody else around here. How about consulting a well regarded professional? A source who has proven to be right more times than not in the past with their projections and evaluations? You know what I’m talkin’ ’bout.

Bottom line

I was told he was not going to start

Did they tell you the sun would come up today?

There was no way to know that Lito would not start, months ago. All official indications were that he was going to start. I hoped that he would, knowing it was stupid and risky. To predict that he would not start months ago was only speculation aka wild ass guessing and hoping. If you think Grime has special insight into predicting the Wikings roster moves, then you may be interested in some snake oil I have for sale. Guaranteed to keep snakes away from you. Drink it, rub it on, doesn’t matter, I guarantee no snakes will bother you.

Hey, there’s still time though. A lot of teams don’t give newcomers, no matter how much experience they have in the NFL, the starting job until several weeks into training camp. Unfortunately this “newcomer” is Lito Shepherd, who doubtedly could play his way up the depth chart. And also unfortunately this team is run by Childress, who doesn’t run his team in ways that respect the Viking veterans. Or the other 52 players that aren’t named Brett Favre.

in ways that respect the Viking veterans

Chilly’s just trying to win. He could start Sage Rosenfels and respect the veterans. And risk his job. He already tried Tarvaris, that didn’t work. What’s left? Quality starting QB’s are hard to find.

you're totally right and I agree with you there

I was implying about how Favre is able to have his own set of rules regarding him missing camp without declaring whether or not he’s even intending to show up while others would be punished for the same behavior.

by AJG on Aug 10, 2010 8:17 PM CDT up reply actions

as in I’ve never heard about Favre losing any money for missing camp.

by AJG on Aug 10, 2010 8:19 PM CDT up reply actions

That

is an interesting point!

I’ve never even thought about that.

he's 41 years old this year

Do you really think he’ll learn anything in camp? Is there anything he can improve upon at this point? He takes care of himself with his own conditioning. He deserves an exemption. Look at the results he put up in 2009 and ignore the final pass he threw. Nice season.

Fine Brett Favre for missing camp? Child please.

"We're not homosexuals, we're divorced!"

by stujo4 on Aug 10, 2010 10:03 PM CDT up reply actions

That’s silly to think that Favre only needs to be there to improve himself. He needs to be there to establish timing with his receivers, for his offensive line to work with his scrambling and pocket tendencies, and even for his running backs to work with his particular way of handing the ball off (last time I checked, the NFCCC, that was actually a problem).

Drew Brees had a great season last year too, would you be completely okay with him missing all of training camp and most of the Preseason games?
