Official Canal Street Chronicles Fantasy Football League: Choosing the First Overall Draft Pick

**CBSSports.com is an SB Nation partner and paying sponsor of the SB Nation football communities. This post is one of a series of sponsor endorsed posts related to the CBSSports.com Fantasy Football Commissioner League.**

We're that much closer to the start of our official CBSSports.com Fantasy Football Commisioner League with the draft set for 7pm EST on August 22nd - just one week away.

In the last CBSSports.com officially sponsored post I let everyone submit their own ideas for possible division names and had readers vote for their favorite submissions by process of rec'ing. The winning division names chosen by you were the four names of the streets surrounding the Super Dome as submitted by coldpizza - Poydras, Girod, LaSalle and Claiborne. The updated list of divisions, teams and owners of our league can be found after the jump along with information on the sweet deal CBSSports.com is offering you guys.

But if you thought I couldn't top that, keep reading because this week I am going to allow all of you to choose who you want to have the first overall pick in our scheduled draft next week.

The poll below is a list of all participating team owners with the exception of myself. The rules are simple: vote for the member you would like to see own the first overall draft pick in our official CSC fantasy football league. You may use any criteria you wish for making your selection. Participating league owners are allowed to vote for themselves as well as lobby in the comment section for more votes from their fellow CSC members. I reserve the right for any tie-breaks and will always have the final say.

Because SB Nation is partnered with CBSSports.com, they are giving all fans and readers of our blogs 50% off their regular Commissioner League price and a 14-day free trial! Normally $180, you would only have to pay $89.99 to start your own league and get all the great features we'll be using in our official league that I just told you about. Then laugh at all of your other friends who blew all their money on some other platform.

CLICK HERE to take advantage of this sweet, half-off deal.

That's it. There's no strings attached. You don't need me or anyone else related to Canal Street Chronicles for anything. Just by reading this post and clicking here, you save $90 and pay half of what the rest of the world normally would.

Keep in mind that $89.99 price is for the entire league, not per person. So if you set up a twelve team league and divide the cost evenly among all of you, that's just $7.50 per person. I know you will all be creating fantasy football  leagues this year, either with other members of Canal Street Chronicles or with your personal friends, so I highly encourage all of you to take advantage of this opportunity.

Here are some of the features that set the Commissioner League apart from others:

  • The ability to manage your league and your team via your mobile phone.
  • Expert and user generated analysis
  • Live chat/league instant messenger
  • Fast and incredibly accurate live scoring
  • Archived league data so that you can pick up where you left off the season before
  • Customization of entire league, rules, scores, teams and more
  • Multiple draft options including auction drafts

If any of you want to gauge interest and/or organize your own Canal Street Chronicles fantasy football league using CBSSports.com Commissioner League, feel free to create FanPosts to do so.

I voted for stujo4. Kind guy that he is.

If I am good I could add years to my life / I would rather add some life to my years.

I thought it was a popularity contest until I saw I had 6 votes

And I only voted for myself once.

Hans

wait – is it good or bad to have the #1 overall pick?

HA!!

I had the #1 overall pick in my first FF year

took Emmitt Smith in 1995 or 1996 – he didn’t have a terrible year, but just not a MONSTER year

and my next pick was WR Jimmy Smith

I just remember that it seemed like FOREVER between my first two picks, and it was hard to wait…

is 6 votes HIGH or LOW for you in a popularity contest?

I want to vote for CP since he won the "Name the Divisions" Contest,

but he doesn’t have a team in this league.

So, I’m going back to vote for hamburgers.

Well, that won’t work either.

I think I’ll vote for one of those guys whose secret identity has been revealed.

I'm trying to think of a reason why people should vote for me.

But nothing comes to mind. In a snake draft, I’m not so sure I want the 1st pick.

I’ll try anyway. How ’bout this for a reason:

Political Ad no.2

Since we’re in an election year, I might as well follow the formulas used by those who pretend to be our public servants. My first ad above is the typical “all fluff and no substance on the issues” ad we see every year. My second ad will be the standard “show them what they want to see and tell them what they want to hear” formula. Of course after using this and once sworn into office, I may drop all of these promises in order to serve my own megalomaniacal self interests. Isn’t that what most politicians do?

I suggest

either do it random or use last years standing, with the worst record drafting first and best record going last.

by shn_hldn on Aug 15, 2010 2:06 PM CDT reply actions

Personally I do not mind going towards the middle end of the draft.

To me if you are not in the top two the bottom half of the draft is where you want to be. You get to stack good players that way. IMHO

2nd suggestion

I am thinking about a number from 0 to 900,000,000,000,000,000,000,000. The closest person to this number gets the number one pick.

Oh wait that means me right.

generally, the FF “season” ends before/on week 16… so, all of your players are playing, even if they’re on bad teams.

Want to go to the Saints vs. Cowboys game? I've got an extra ticket.

I hate the first overall pick

Think Jamarcus, $50.7 million contracts with $25 million guaranteed, and Purple Drank. If I were voted to have the Number 1 pick, I’d trade down.

Stats show if you are 1st or 2nd pick you win the league the majority of the time.
