Saints linebacker Jonathan Casillas might always be best remembered for being the player who recovered the onside kick to open the second half of Super Bowl XLIV.

Really? I kinda remember Chris Reis recovering that ball.

I believe there were two people involved in the actual possession of the ball at the end of referee scrum.

Reis was the first to touch it, and the one that came running out of the pile after the ref’s said those beautiful words “WHITE BALL!”

But, I think Casillas was a major contributor to the recovery effort.

Yep...
Saints ball. Jonathan Casillas was given credit for the recovery, but Morstead said it was actually third-string safety Chris Reis who got it.

Reis was the one who recovered it. It was Casillas who was the second Saint to the pile. It was his sliding into Mr. Kenda Wilkinson that pushed him off the scrum enough to allow Reis to fully secure it.

The ONLY person I think of when I remember the "Ambush" is Sean Payton!

Titanium testicles adorned with a Saints visor and Motorola headset!

Fat, dumb, and happy. Hell, two out of three ain't bad!

If you watch the play

You can see the ball under Chris Reis’ knee with an Indy player grabbing it. Casillas comes in and shoulder slams the indy guy off the ball letting Reis grab it. If he wasn’t there we wouldn’t have recovered it.

under the pile chris reis held the ball to his hip with one arm

he claimed that he would never let that ball go and said his arm was numb afterward. but casillas def helped protect him in the scrum.

NEVER QUIT!
