State of the Saints - DB's
Here's one that bound to draw criticism from non-Saints fans, but here we go. I feel that the Saints have one of the best 5 CB tandems in the league today. Jabari Greer is the best cover man in the league without last name Revis or Asomugha and the combined tandem of Greer and Tracy Porter can arguably be considered the best cover tandem in the league (I know the Jets make that a really bad argument, but hey I'm a Black and Gold guy). Randall Gay and 1st round pick Patrick Robinson give a lot of depth to a team that had to pick up a few corners off the geriatric list due to injuries 2 seasons ago. I think Usama Young and Malcolm Jenkins ability to move from safety to corner makes Leigh Torrence days numbered. At the corner the Saints are as deep as anyone.
I love bringing Darren Sharper back. It was a must do if the bayou boys wanna make another run for it. With that said, I would love to see Jenkins boot him out of the position by making the plays that made him a 1st round pick. I love Roman Harper. I know that he must improve, but I see signs that this guy can be great. I think the only reason that this secondary is not thought of as one of if not the best in the league is due to the fact that the front seven does not generate nearly enough non-blitz pass rush. Greg Williams is absolutely a blitz mad scientist, but scheming genius can only take you so far.
To the bourbon street fans, where do you think the Saints secondary ranks in the NFL. You tell me.

I agree with a lot of what you said
but even though I really like Usama Young and Leigh Torrence, I am not sure if they can really cut it. I would like to see Jenkins be able to play SS but that may be a stretch. I like Harper, but he’s not a superstar. having said that he has been very steady and probably is gettiong better every year and we certainly could do worse.
A good pass rush coulod make this one of the best secondarys in the league.

I agree with most of the things you said
however, I think that the tandem of Leon Hall and Jonathan Joseph for the Bengals is better. Saints are right behind them
Bengals definitely have the #1 cornerback duo in the league.

Don’t count out the Jets. If Revis ever signs, that dou up there in NY might just surprise you.

Revis is under contract, but it’s a rookie deal that doesn’t offer him long-term security, which he badly wants after what happened to Leon Washington last year. Understandable. And if it hurts their loud-mouthed moron of a coach, all the better.
