Around SBN: Leandro Damiao Is Still Really Good

Let's not put Chase Daniel in the HOF, yet!

Fellow Saints fans, I was also excited to see Chase Daniel play a week ago.  I thought he managed the game well.  I thought he showed some zip on his passes.  He was definitely accurate and yes at times, he did look a bit like Drew Brees.  Now that a week has gone by and I have time to see the game 2 more times, a few big things hit me...

1. It's Preseason football - There are some players that look like HOF'ers every year around this time and then they dissapear into the well of mediocrity and annonymity.  D. Coordinators are not throwing their best stuff at the offense and not to mention that some of the guys in the game know that they're auditioning for the practice squad at best!

2. Houston Texans - Not exactly known as a defensive juggernaut, I would expect that my son's HS team QB could come into the Dome with the Saints talent and look like a pretty good back up.

3. Guru Payton - Sean Payton brought in Patrick Ramsey and drafted Sean Canfield for a reason.  He sees this guy a lot more than we do and felt it warranted to bring in an experienced back up QB.  Besides, I liked what I saw from Ramsey against a much more talented Patriots defense.

In closing, I'm saying sorry folks! Patrick Ramsey is the back-up QB on this team and Chase will have to wait his turn.  Not that I don't think that this kid has potential, but I would much rather a veteran calling the signals in the catastrophic event that Drew goes down.  Ohhh it hurt to type it!  Madden curse stay away!!!

As a Chase Daniel denier, I have to admit he did pretty well. The Texans had the #13 defense last year, so I doubt that your kid’s team would have looked quite as good.

I doubt that the decision has been made yet. If Ramsey looks like a starter tonight, that’s bad news for Chase. If Ramsey stinks up the joint, Chase can probably celebrate with another cheeseburger.

This.

Oh when Brees, marches down the field, Oh when Brees gets into the redzone, Oh how I want to see him throw a TD! Oh when Brees marches down the field.

In my opinion

Ramsey has to play better than Daniel did last week. He can’t play as good as Daniel, he’ll have to be better. That’s because Daniel has something Ramsey doesn’t….potential.

Peyton, I can eat Oreos faster than you!!!!

The Patriots are a much more talented defense than the Texans? If you look at the stats last year they were almost identical. And considering the Texans keep getting younger and more athletic on D and the Patriots older and slower…well…

Patriots defensive backs were lit up by a rookie last night, too.

Lets atleast let Ramsey play tonight

But in all actuality havent we all seen enough game tape on Ramsey. I think Im going for Garcia or Jeff George.

I dont buy it

I thought Ramsey looked like hell against the Pat’s I guess we will see tonight.
I think SP bought in Ramsey to push copmpetition and I think he drafted Canfield because he was the best availible player on the board.
I would like to at least get a good look at Canfield next week but he might not be around,Does anyone know when we make cuts again?

thanks

Looks like Canfield will probably be gone by next week unless I’m missing something this is a 2 man race for back up SP will probably let him go and resign him to practice squad if he has ant potential

Nope. All the week 4 preseason games are Thursday night. Cutdown day is Saturday. Canfield will get at least another shot at kneeling out a game, maybe even a touch more.
