Let the GAAAA's commence
Just passing along some info relating to the Saints Vikings season opener. Look for Drew to air it out often:
From Rotoworld:
Vikings rookie CB Chris Cook is out at least two weeks with a tear in his right meniscus.
He's not going to be ready for Week 1, which will force Lito Sheppard back atop the depth chart. It's very bad news for Minnesota as they prepare to face the Saints' high-octane passing attack. Cook's timetable for return is unclear, but he needed surgery. He seems likely to muss multiple games.
It is looking worse and worse for the Vikings in their attempt for revenge.

“the infamous Lito Sheppard”
Does that mean he’s more than famous, he’s in-famous?
Want to go to the Saints vs. Cowboys game? I've got an extra ticket.
It will be especially fun for those who picked the VIKINGS for their D/ST on the official CSC FF league!
Oh thats right Dave, didn’t you pick them?

F***!!!!! I think I have them in 2 leagues!
"Here's the funny thing. Last night, I couldn't sleep too well. I called my dad (Bill) at 2:15 in the morning, and told him I had a feeling I was going to hit the game-winner from 42 yards on the right hash. I think I was two yards off."- Garrett Hartley
hehehe...
says all of us who didn’t draft them. Come on Saints, Ravens, Chargers, and Jets DSTs. Papa needs a fresh FF trophy!

why would someone draft the ravens as their D/ST?
There secondary is just as bad as the Vikings. It could be argued that it actually is worse.

It's kismat
I’m not a master gameplanner (I just play one on TV), but my first thought is that the Vikes will be bringing the house with their pass rush. They’ll have to find ways to get to Drew so their mediocre DBs won’t get constantly torched. They do have a pretty stout D-line. I’m sure Payton will prepare well for this and not leave Bushrod to deal with Allen alone. Zach Strief needs to get healthy so he can be brought in as a TE or whatever and help Bushrod or Stinchcomb as needed.

The key to the beating the Vikings defense is nickle and dimming them.
You may not have enough time to throw a 40+ yard bomb. You have to throw between 5-15 yards. YAC will be the single most statistic in facing that Viking wall. If Brees throws Colston an inside curl at 7-15yards pass the line of scrimmage, then he can easily shake off Lito for additional yardage.
It will also help if Bush will be able to throw a block or two.

Excellent...Excellent
I knew I had good reason to not worry about that game.
Oh when Brees, marches down the field, Oh when Brees gets into the redzone, Oh how I want to see him throw a TD! Oh when Brees marches down the field.
PREDICTION: Saints 48 : Vikes 14

hmmm....
maybe 14 it too high.
What do you think?

41-10
…would be nice symmetry. (Of course, that would also require that Lito runs back a fumble for a TD.)
It was worth the wait.
we don’t need perfect symmetry… come on now.

Norsemen mentality
Litio Sheppard will hold his own against Marques Colston.
GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HA HAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
"I can eat oreos faster than him" Scott Fujita's take on Payton Manning SB44
Colston can catch one-handed
I think “hold his own” was meant to suggest an act illegal in public. I hope Marques clocks him.
It was worth the wait.
no one really said that.
I was just using basic Norseman reasoning and illustrating their mentality on their futile attempt to point fingers at anyone other than themselves for their failures last season and this upcomming season.
WHO DAT B***hes!!

Norseman mentality:
They hate the Saints for injuring Favre’s ankle, but aren’t worried about whether he’ll make it through the season because he’s too tough to be injured. Favre himself says he’s not sure whether the ankle will make it through the full season, but he’s just lying to lull the opponents into a false sense of security, because he’s too tough to be injured; but the Saints are still bastards for injuring him… if it were possible to injure him….

Damn!
I was hoping we’d beat the Vikes with there A-game so the whining by there fans, not to mention general “you guys got lucky last year” attitude from a lot of people, stop.
And since we are now expected to win even more because of Stu’s secret mancrush upgrade on their roster, can you just imagine what NFL planet would look like on Sept.10th after a Saints loss? I know I don’t want to see posters from both SB Nation blogs go at it even more…
Heck, it would probably end up with Dave and Christopher Gates being asked to “man it out” in a neutral back-alley!
Repeat? Under construction...
Not so fast, fellas
Asher Allen, a second year guy, is decent. Not great, but decent. It sucks that Cook is hurt, I really think the guy will be a good player in the NFL. I don’t think it’s a given that Sheppard gets the start. He gets the nod right now, but he had been just okay in pre-season. Allen very well could get the nod by the time the season starts.
If the Vikes can get pressure, they’ll be okay. The offense is still going to be good, and if they don’t turn the ball over five times I like their chances.
And if you win, there won’t be whining, at least from my part. Just a tip of the cap.

someone’s chewing the juicy fruit? Seriously? Who in their right mind would like the Vikings chances come Sept.9?
you know, when you want something, and nobody can stop you from taking it, you just take it, right? I like that, but can you take it?
Why wouldn't I like the Vikes chances?
It was a well played game last year. Even with four turnovers (to that point) the Vikes had a chance to win it in regulation until the pick.
The offense is the same. SIdney Rice is out, but Berrian is healthy, and Greg camarillo will play a much bigger role in this game than anyone thinks.
Sure, the Saints will be fired up and on an emotional high. It will be a big night. But don’t you think there will be a lot of emotion and motivation on the Vikings side when they see that banner unveiled? Kind of a pissed off feeling of not being the ones having that banner raised in their stadium? Maybe a little revenge on their mind? Now, it won’t really be revenge, we know that.
A regular season win doesn’t avenge a loss in the NFCCG, but it would still be satisfying to ruin opening night.
I think it’s going to be a helluva game, and yeah, I definitely think the VIkings can win.

I have the Saints double figure favorites. IDK maybe it’s me.

You can be pissed off all you want, still won’t help any if you can’t execute.

Hey Ted
This post was purely to see the reaction of one particular CSC member. I thought it would make his day since he loves him some Lito. In fact, he often brought up how the Saints should go after Lito.
Ha.
I am looking forward to hopefully a very good game. I will say that from an avoiding injury standpoint we appear to have an advantage. But you hit it dead on. Both teams are going to be pumped up from the banner being raised. Both for very different reasons. But since it is home and that Dome is likely going to be potentially the loudest ever i have to go Saints. 35-24.
Football is easy if you're crazy as hell
Fair assessment
but I really believe if the Vikes can hold on to the ball and keep favre upright, they’ll win.

Duly noted
I will bet you a shiny Loonie that the Saints pull it off.

I thought Sidney Rice played in the NFCCG?
The offense is the same. SIdney Rice is out, but Berrian is healthy, and Greg camarillo will play a much bigger role in this game than anyone thinks.
Are you stating the fact that Rice is the only one that is not back?
Or
Did I miss something?

Rice hurt his hip in the NFCCG
and is on the PUP list, which makes him ineligible for the first six weeks. My premise is that the addition of Camarillo, along with Harvin and Berrian, and the VIkings passinggame will still be very potent.
"Whoever said that the pen is mightier than the sword never encountered automatic weapons."
I definitely think the Vikings can win too
…keyword being can. I think that the Vikes probably care about winning it more than the Saints do honestly. I know I would if I was a Viking.
I still think the Saints come out on top, but whoever said that the Norwegians are only scoring 14………. just for the record, I didn’t say that. However comma I would like to go on record saying that the Saints put up AT LEAST 17 every week
