Watch Saints games online?

Ok, now that I know that Time Warner has no options for a Who Dat to watch some Saints action. I am a fan of DFW Saints, but,, on those days when I just wanna sit on the couch and watch a game, I need a way to do so. So, now on to my question. Has anyone ever watched the games online at NFL.com? Preseason is almost here and I'm startin to feel desparate.

If you like to live on the edge, you could wait for a link to various shady websites to be posted in each gameday thread. Lots of us survived that way last season.

Honestly, I really wouldn’t recommend that unless you have an anti-virus program that has been bombarded by gamma rays. Or if you don’t keep any personal info whatsoever on your machine and don’t mind it ceasing to work entirely after people have had their way with it. Viruses and hackers have done more to discourage online piracy than the government ever has, will, or can. It’s just not worth it anymore.

Find a sports bar. Getting into fights with Buc, Vikings, and Falcons fans is an excellent way to pass halftime. Been doing it for years, and the tab is likely less expensive than most packages that are offered on cable and the net.

Not easy to find a sports bar showing Saints games in South Jersey.

And thanks to avast, spybot and an ability to avoid dodgy websites, I survived last season and managed to watch every game.

Nice.

I have a pretty healthy stable of antivirus software that I trust as well, but I wouldn’t recommend “typical joe computer user” to try it without knowing what to look for.

Getting in with a local pub with only a few TVs is surprisingly easy; bring in some friends and don’t be a jackass (say thank you to your server and tip well) a few times, and they’ll pretty much do your bidding even if you get rowdy at gametime. I have no familiarity with Jersey whatsoever, but there are actually a number of chain restaurant/pubs that cater to the sports crowd and will show all NFL games every week (Fox and Hound, Buffalo Wild Wings). Get in with a bartender or manager, and show up early to grab a seat, and it’s actually a really enjoyable experience. I’ve met a number of really cool fans that I would almost call friends (of both the Saints and of opposing teams) throughout the seasons.

You’re probably right that a lot of illegal streaming TV websites aren’t the safest ones online.

Now I’m actually a semi-legal resident and allowed to drive, I’m sure I’ll be taking your advice and trying to find a bar to watch games in next season, instead of hunching over my laptop with CSC for company.

I agree

Run a lab of 60 macs not anti-virus software, no problems. I usually get my links from:

by saintslam on Aug 8, 2010 1:16 PM CDT up reply actions

All of these are pretty good ways to go about it

ATDHE is a decent site and they are pretty on top of finding good links, but they are mostly public so they get taken down quite a bit.

I know a couple guys personally that stream live broadcasts in 720p. They are always private streams that are password protected. They ask for a small donation if at all possible. Honestly the $2 I paypal to them per game is money well spent. It is still done via Justin.tv or Veetle.

To those running Windows, if you are seriously concerned about adding more spyware to the network of trojans you most certainly already have, I would suggest running a Linux live session through a virtual machine.

It may sound like a bunch of tech jargon, but getting it setup is pretty easy. Hell, when crunch time comes along, if there are enough cries from the unfortunate gameday-less WhoDat masses, I may feel inclined to post a tutorial on how to get it all done.

I am always sending out links to those I deem trustworthy too. By email only, but if you need one during the season, you’ll probably find me here.

I’d gladly pay $2 for a working stream… in fact, last year I sent some random guy 3 or 4 for his private feeds.

I've gotten so used to watching an animated green field and funny colored lines on Yahoo Game Channel

that I would probably freak out if I saw real people running around.

What’s the use of having an up to date, state of the art computer, an amazingly fast cable hook up, and a 1 terabite external hard drive if I can’t be “in on the action” 1 minute and 15 seconds after something happens?

The one game I didn't get to watch last season,

I listened to the local broadcast through NFL.com (small fee for just the one week), paired with the Yahoo! game tracker. Not the best solution, but was still pretty enjoyable.

by Jimbo03 on Aug 7, 2010 7:55 PM CDT up reply actions

I remember not being able to see the 2nd Falcons game because I was on the road almost the entire game.

Watched the entire game on my espn app for iphone, watched as I waited for 3G to kick in so I could get an update when it did. Remember getting home for the ending, turns out the cowboys were on instead of the Saints and I was so pissed that I had to “watch” the end on the app. Makes me hate the cowboys more now.

ESPN Gamecast Victim Here

I would try to watch something like that online if I had a connection worth a crap. Especially at night when the games come on, the connection almost seems to be going backwards. YOu should have seen me during the Washington game last year. It seemed like it took hours to update the Brees INT/Meachem Strip TD. I was searching through the AFN sports channels looking for updates the entire time I was waiting for an update to the play.

Don’t think any of the options on that page allow you to watch regular season games live online.

For people out of the country, they do have a "GamePass"!!

http://www.nfl.com/gameaccess

Scroll to the bottom and click the GamePass link…

I clicked it at got an error because it blocks US IP addresses.

…I wonder if you could use a Proxy to get a semi-legit feed… and how much?

I'm going to do the Game Access this year.

I’m rebelling against DirecTV this year. I canceled them around 4 months ago and I’m not going back to them just because it’s football season. I knew this would be the toughest time. It’s forcing me to be more social. Gonna go watch the games at the club and make an arse of myself in public and embarrass my Bears lovin’ husband among his military peeps. I’m going to have Game Access as a back up for when I know I’m going to get distracted or if someone is talking to me or when the kids need attention, KWIM? LOL. I can go home later and watch the game in peace. At least we have 5 prime time games! http://www.neworleanssaints.com/news-and-events/article-1/NFL-Announces-Saints-2010-Schedule/f3ac6b34-2ced-4c0c-8c77-a96453bd9578

i basically came here for every game i could

and waited for links to pop up. sometimes, i’d luck out and get to watch it on tv. well..no tv this year so it will be bars and the internet for me. usually i have nfl and espn websites on to ensure i have the most up-to-date stats and game progressions but, nothing beats live tv.

hypothetical – if i had access to the games on my hypothetical tv, how do could i broadcast that online?

anyone here at csc do that sort of thing?

by nanvinnie on Aug 9, 2010 5:13 PM CDT reply actions

the concept and implementation are fairly simple. Pretty much anyone with a laptop and internet access can host a stream. There are a variety of websites in place that do most of the work for you (i.e. Justin.tv, ustream, veetle, etc).

That being said, in order to do it “successfully” it can’t just be any joe-schmoe with DSL and a Lenovo Thinkpad. To run a smooth, high quality stream you need, first and foremost, a very good internet connection. I have a better than average 2mbps speed, which is the bare minimum required to host a true 720p resolution stream. Even when I do try, it still lags out occasionally. Secondly, good hardware is necessary as well. You would probably want a dedicated server for the stream itself, so as not to take away necessary resources from the system.

Bottom line (IMO) is if you happen to have an excess of computer hardware lying around, and happen to be in an area where you can tap into a T1 or Fiber Optic line fairly simply. Do it. If not, save the effort and donate a few bucks here and there to the guys that can do it. It keeps them afloat and in my experience, they work really hard to make sure they deliver something worth your cash.

awesome

thanks for the reply. i was just curious if it was something i could just do. i guess that’s a yes and no. i have a macbook pro, but my internet connection isn’t the best and i don’t even have a cable, dish or direct. luckily, i live about 20 yards from a bar so i guess i’ll be there often.

My brother and I use Skype. For computer to computer video calls it's free.

What if I had him put his video camera in front of his TV? I could see and hear the game for free!

Gotta’ make a call.

If he’s going to point a web cam at the screen, he could also use ustream/justin.tv etc.

Not sure what carrier you use

But Verizon has the NFL mobile app that let’s you watch “NFL RedZone, NFL Network, NBC’s Sunday Night Football, and NFL Network’s Thursday Night Football live”. When the season starts it’s $10 a month. I watched part of the draft on my phone while I was bartending and to my surprise the app worked really well.

Now that this exists I can see groups of men in everything from churches to weddings crowded around someone’s phone, hehe.

Been a member of this community for a long time.

Some of you folks may or may not remember me. I used to follow along the game thread every sunday, I’d put in my predictions on what I thought would happen.

Dave (Sainsationsal) has an awesome blog going here on CSC.

In the past I’ve came by to let everyone know about my PRIVATE website. StickTV.Net. I’m the site owner, so you are hearing it straight from the horses mouth. Last year, I offered EVERY saints game broadcast (not including preseason) as well as all but about 5 of ALL the other games last season.

Keep me in mind, when you go on your never-ending search for an online Saints Game. ;-)

Me Too

This morning I did the ESPN Gamecast, and someone turned me onto a site where I could watch the game. I went and checked it out, and the only problem I saw with it was being about 4-6 plays behind Gamecast at all times. On a brighter note, I did get to see Reggie’s 10 yard tilt-a-whirl ending run, and I also got to see him score. If this site is better, I will definitely have an option for when the games don’t come on AFN.
